Kenya: Postponement of AKR elections

From: Daniel Koech

We have noted as the outgoing committee with great sadness that some Kenyans have decided to circulate email calling for elections of AKR against the advise our high commission with false claims of refusal to be housed!

We are of the view that a leader or one aspiring to be a leader has first to respect others, We wish to request Kenyans of good will to keep off that meeting and follow the advise of postponement of AKR elections as earlier advised.

We also advise Kenyans that anyone wishing to register as a member of AKR should be patient and wait for the contentious issue of membership to be addressed

We urge all Kenyans to stick with our government representatives here in Rwanda because that is our point of unity.

  1. AKR Bona FIDE MEMBER

This is a display of immaturity Mr. Koech and the self styled Kamwenju. The organizing Sectretary and AKR office should have the contacts of those who gave them the mandate to be in office, a mandate which has exired.
1.Why then use this forum if you are an effective Organizing Sectretary?Since you have used this forum, I’m using it to respond to you.
2.Why not seek fresh mandate if you want extension of term
3.Why blame others for not respecting you while you have not respected the membership?
4.Why claim that association membership is not updated while you have been in the office for one year?
5.What is contentious about membership of AKR? A Kenyan resident in Rwanda is eligible for membership after paying registration fee. Why put effort to exclude others just because they are against your evil desire to continue in office.

We have never witnessed this since the inauguration of AKR. People have been serving their terms and call for timely elections. What has changed this year?

We are ashamed and tired of office holders who use the name of AKR to con members and Rwandese of money and engage in illegal activities and you need to be out of office before Kenyans in Rwanda get further embarrasments.

If I was in Kigali, I would have attended. I am informed Kenyans of goodwill in their hundreds attended the meeting yesterday and charted a way forward by making resolutions, resulutions which I am going to sign as soon as I land in Kigali. We thank those who orgainzed the meeting and we will continue to give support to all initiatives aimed at uniting Kenyans in Rwanda.

I am not an aspirant, but we must mobilize all resources to stop this Kamwenju and Koech nonsense. AKR is a member based organization: it neither belongs to the High Commissioner nor officials whose terms have expired.
