Press Release
5th June 2008
KCDN Embakasi Peace Run; 15th June 2008
Theme; National Healing and Reconciliation with a bias to the Kenyan Child.
Following the postponement of the KCDN Embakasi Peace Run which was scheduled to take place on 31st May 2008, we have set the new dates for 15th June 2008.
Venue and time remain the same.
In conjunction with Peace Building, Reconciliation and Conflict Management Committee, Nairobi East District, and with technical support from Athletics Kenya, Komarocks Community Development Network will be hosting this Peace Run. As we do this, we want to make the following appeals to fellow Kenyans;
1] To the Ministers;
Can we stop talking at cross purposes. Can we have a cabinet position on
amnesty and talk about it with one voice.
2] Pointing fingers;
Can we stop pointing fingers. By pointing fingers, we are not helping in creating an enabling environment for Peace, National Healing and Reconciliation.
3] Electoral Commission of Kenya;
Kenya almost came to her knees because of how you handled the electoral process. Can you ensure that we have an efficient process this time around in the forthcoming by-elections. Can we have a free and fair elections.
4] To the Judiciary; Many
Kenyans languish in the cells and remands for very long periods. Ultimately, most get acquitted for luck of evidence. Does it prick your conscience that Mr Joseph Kisilu was in remand for 43 years before being acquitted for luck of evidence? Can you release all the people who have been arrested for no reasons, so that, we can fast track the process of Peace, National Healing and Reconciliation with a clear conscience?
5] Sports as a unifying factor;
As we hold the KCDN Embakasi Peace Run on 15th June 2008, can we all turn to each other for support. Just like sportsmen behave, can we all embrace each other in that same spirit of Peace, Love and Reconciliation?
6] To the people of Kenya;
Can we vote in credible leaders in the forthcoming by-elections with a clear conscience? Let us exercise our call to duty with love for one another. Let politics not divide us.
As we welcome all persons who are able to be with us on the 15th, we would like to call upon all Kenyans from all the areas where by-elections will be held, to vote with love for each other. Let us remember that Kenya is more important than any of us. Let us mind about the future of our children, so that at the end of the day, we all shake hands either in victory or in defeat.
Let us not fight. Politics is not worth fighting and dying for. Kenya is. May the best candidates win in the forthcoming by-elections.
Peace and goodwill to all mankind. And as Martin Luther King Junior said, true peace is not merely the absence of tension. It is the presence of justice.

Charles Mac Aluodo,

NOTE;
because we are expecting 15 athletics clubs, 10 primary schools, 6 secondary schools and the general public, we are still in short supply of T-shirts which will help us spread some more the peace message.
In the spirit of National Healing and Reconciliation, we invite any person of good will who can sponsor the buying and printing of T-shirts to so support us. We need to have all these ready by Thursady 12th June 2008.
