WORLD FOOD CRICIS- Kenyans Wake UP!!

The current food crisis is a global phenomenon. There are places where people have gone on strike – Haiti, Philippines and so forth.

Even in US there are retail outlets that have started rations – stock quot, like maximum packets of rice for every shopper.

Some countries in the middle east are negotiating with retail outlets not only because of shortage but also inflation. Some have rice stocks for 6 weeks!!

Back here, we have our own set of problems that compound this shortage. IDPs, bloated government, inadequate attention to agricultural production. Of course the violence led to a lot produce going to waste.

In addition to prayers as Amenya says, lets use the little we have. Lets start with our homes. Lets not waste food by all means. From purchasing, preparation to the way we preserve the leftovers (if there is any).

We shall overcome someday.

In the meantime, can we throw a challenge to people in the ministry of agriculture to return Kenya back in the map as a food surplus nation.

Cheers

Mr. Okoth and the rest,

I personally sometimes do write in luo language to enter deep into our luo elites, but I will apologise now for using the foreign language called Kiengeressa when I am talking to my fellow jokanyanam.

I do personaly believe that Real power must be taken , NOT given; In all the great developments or success on earth here, where great development has been achieved,  things are done like that. So this stupid thing you are speaking like should being a luo must equal extreme poverty does not add up and that is abusing the whole of luo land. It is just like waking up and speaking what James Watson said that all blacks are stupid and inferior to whites which we know is NOT TRUE. Luos do have this thing called social communism, like Harambee business, `wako ji mar doyo`, gero ot`or gero simba together etc. But this has gone too deep and some of our people have not realized that in the real world there is a very stiff competition. Luos should just wake up and walk straight on two feet or if you have one get a stick and go to the bank and take a loan just as all other tribes are doing and start something for yourself.

We luos are lucky that most of us are linked to a specific land somewhere in luo land, but this will not be fore ever, since some of luos are too greedy and are trying to sell luolands to foreigners bit by bit and in the long run we luos will be just like kikuyus who does not have land in central provinces. So bringing developments into luo land are not bad,  BUT make sure  that the locals do gain and gain in a big way that is when it is called DEVELOPMENT, OR ADVANCMENT.

This thing ODM and PNU has done is not real power but we hope they bring us new constitution which will also address the so called foreign investors act and under which term you do business in luoland.

Somebody said these words` THE ONLY THING WE SHALL FEAR IS FEAR ITSELF`….. I DO THINK THAT REAL POWER MUST BE TAKEN, NOT GIVEN.

I will leave you with those: Paul Nyandoto

Okoth

I agree with some of the things you have mentioned in this forum about Dominion Farms.  However, those teething issues which need addressing should be looked into in order for the project / investment to have full confidence of the local community.

Your encouragement of Luos to invest is good but when you use phrases such as ‘Odera Kango to come from the grave’ to realise any meaningful investment, one wonders whether you do really acknowledge and recognise the milestones made by Luos in the last 10 years to develop themselves and Luoland for that matter.  I agree there is a lot to be done but at the same it is important to recognise the current efforts and work people have put in, in order to bring development to our people.  I believe things are changing for the better.

Some people have been asking for a book on central Nyanza Luos by Shadrack Malo.
  I have a copy.
TApindi, the names of Uss in Gem has no special meaning.
They are just names like Nyawara, Muhanda, Ukaya, Uyonga, Akala, Ulumbu, Sagam, Jina etc just to mention a few.
Jo Gem even had chiefs like Odera Ulalo and many more.

Dr Abonyo, It is my strong believe that we as ordinary Kenyans need to concentrate and demand development and delivery of services.  It is more constructive to be asking what is Raila and Kibaki doing about unemployment, health , education, security, bringing the people together and reconciling them.

Look at what happened when people demanded that the cabinet be named.  They named 90 cabinet ministers and assistant ministers.  As a result of that for the first time in many years there was no increase in workers wages.   Now what does this tell you? Ordinary people are fighting for big cats at their own expense and that what I call foolishness.

That why I emphasis and I cannot emphasis enough our role as Wananchi is to be asking what is in it for us.  Not what is in it for Raila, Kalonzo or Kibaki it is what is in it for us as ordinary Kenyan.

We have bigger problems than the perking order, internally displaced people, poverty, people who live in slums.  Perking order should be the least concern of any progressive mind.

The principals who signed the accord can always talk to one another whenever they have a need otherwise we are going to the toilet for other peoples diarrhea.     Nkuraya

The current resettlement of IDPs in Rift Valley is short term political bandage:

The current resettlement of IDPs in Rift Valley is short term political bandage:

The Kenya post-election violence has been on and off from1992, 1997, 2002 and recently 2007, and therefore, it is equally important to acknowledge that the current crisis of the IDPs should not be addressed on the basis of the disputation of December 2007 election results only.

The Mt Kenya elites are immune political gymnastic cover up players since Kenya became independence, and are the main cause of the current bloodshed and land crisis in the country.

All the historical injustices and socio-economic inequity in Kenya today, is because the Late Jomo Kenyatta greedily grabbed all the Mau Mau freedom fighters ancestral land in the central province, and thus the current post-election displacement crisis is a continuation recurrence stemming from the unresolved political aggravated of land grievances.

It is well documented in Kenya historical books that the home guards led by the late Jomo Kenyatta grabbed large productive parcels of land, originally in the possession of Mau Mau fighter’s ancestors in Central Province from the Colonial masters, and thereafter rendered them landless after coming from the long gorilla war against the British. This is the primary cause of a large pool of landless Kikuyu community in Kenya.

The Late Kenyatta family and their beneficiaries must be forced to return the ancestral land they grabbed from Kikuyu, Mijikenda at the Coast and other communities that initially occupied them prior to colonialism as it was expected in the duration of the independence 1963..

In essence history will harshly judge the Grand Coalition Government if they repeat the dubious assumption that resettling of IDPs without addressing the past land injustice will bring to an end the bloodshed and Land crisis in Kenya.

It will be just a mere short term political bandage over chronic wound.

The late Jaramogi ( Mjaluo), the late Kaggia (Mkikuyu) and the late Seroney (Mkalenjin) all part way with the Late Kenyatta because of the same, and warn that Kenyans will one day demand land justice.

These great men died with dignity and with clear conscious and today we are reaping the bitter fruits of their foresight prediction.

Christian Democratic Movement of Kenya ( CDMK), urge the Kenya government and the International community to go extra mile and find a lasting solution to the land crisis in Kenya, or else the country will still remain on the brink of bloodshed come 2012 general election.

KISUMU MAYOR IN SCAM OVER PM HOUSE REPAIR.

BY DICKENS WASONGA IN KISUMU CITY.

KISUMU MAYOR IN MAJOR SCANDAL.

Kisumu mayor Sam Onyango Okello is embroiled in a massive financial scam over the alleged repair of the prime minister’s posh Milimani home.

Investigations by this journalist reveals that the mayor unprocedurally obtained a staggering ksh.700,000 from the council’s coffers last week to be used in the refurbishment of the said house. The controversy -ridden contract was awarded to his relative from Gem

As per the stipulated procurement procedures, any contract exceeding ksh.500,000 must be advertised for bidders to competitively apply before it is awarded.

Sources at the financially crippled council confided to this scribe that the mayor’s hasty move angered even his chief officers who termed it as an open theft and in-subordination.

” How do we account for this expenditure incase of any financial audit”,wondered one of the chief officers.

The mayor who was in the news recently for ordering the eviction of some tenants from the council houses is currently being blamed as being too expensive for the cash-strapped civic body.

Its worth noting and interesting that the city father, in a bid to generate revenue for the council ,has found a few personalities untouchable even though they also owe the authority large sums of money in rent arrears.

Investigations further reveals that senior and influential individuals in business and political circles forms the list of who occupies the council’s houses without paying rent yet they enjoy immunity of eviction.

Among them includes Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo, CEO Spectra International Israel Agina and professor Larry Gumbe, banking expert a Mr. Mukuria who is also the chairman of the exclusive Nyanza club where the mayor is currently residing at the expense of the council.

It is shocking also that former council employees who landed plum jobs in the neighboring countries a couple of years ago still occupy council’s up-market houses undeterred thus denying the civic body its much needed revenue.

More of a mockery is fresh revelations that the ageless, long serving enforcement officer Erick Hongo who also doubles as the mayor’s point man has got a chain of the council houses located in different estates within the town to his name yet most senior staff are houseless

He is living in a council house at the posh Milimani which he is entitled to as a senior enforcement officer, while collects rent from the rest of the houses he owns illegally at Arina, Anderson and Kibuye estates.

Contacted for comment the clerk to the council Mr. Rashid Mwakiwiwi said the issue was an ‘internal matter’ and would be addressed soon.

The mayor who has been a perennial losser in Muhoroni constituency was imposed by the ODM top hierachy is also accused of purging the entire staff initially attached to the mayor’s office.

The high tempered and ‘a know it all’ civic boss recently fired a long serving manorial secretary Grace Kun’ga over allegations that she was being used by the immediate former mayor cllr.Prisca Auma to spy on him.

He is said to have vowed never to drink tea prepared by Grace , a move which left her frustrated and did not auger well even among other council workers.

Instead, he has employed a tea girl and a private driver who are bagging whooping weekly allowances at a time when hiring of new staff has been frozen.

ENDS.

Brave young woman cuts dirty old man down to size

A “Broken Mirror, True Life Story”, appearing on page 16 of The Standard’s “Crazy Monday” magazine of Monday, 5th May 2008 (www.eastandard.net)

Residents of a village in Baringo are lost for words after a respected village elder almost lost his manhood in a bizarre incident last month. In this village, the word rape is unheard of and the Biblical sanction against adultery is followed to the letter.

Mzee Chepngotei was a man of good repute and was spoken well of. Villagers entrusted him with issues of discipline and other matters that required delicate arbitration. He had helped the village in maintaining law and order, something, that even earned him commendation last year from the area chief.

However, as the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover. Mzee Chepngotei secretly admired peoples’ wives. It is now known that some women had complained that he had made advances at them while arbitrating family cases.

He would secretly lure the women into sleeping with them as payment before rebuking the wayward husband. And indeed for those who submitted to his advances, their husbands reformed . Villagers however dismissed the women as rumuor mongers.

The rumuors subsided for a while, but it was not long before the bug bit him again. This time, with the urge for a much younger woman.

Given his expertise, he had been asked to arbitrate between Mr. Kanyerkil and his newly married wife, Maria. The couple had been married for barely one year
when Kanyerkil started drinking heavily, leaving his young wife and five month-old son in the care of his aging parents. Friends advised Maria to look for Mzee Chepngotei.

He was already aware of her problem when she approached him. He said if she agreed to cook him a meal of ugali, things would be okay. He told her that
the night of the meal should not be the day of the judgement, because he allegedly wanted to get more information from her. His words were well chosen and the tone encouraging. Maria readily agreed.

On the material day, Chepngotei went to Maria’s house. She had prepared brown ugali, to be served with a stew of osuga. He took his meal outside the house,
according to the traditions of the village.

After the meal Chepngotei called Maria and asked for water, not because he was thirsty, but as a way of getting her to join him. She brought the water in one
of the glasses kept only for special guests. He sipped the water, put the glass aside and asked Maria to sit next to him. This surprised Maria, but did not still sound an alarm in her mind.

Chepngotei moved closer to her, breathing heavily and uttering words of love. The reality hit her that Chepngotei wanted to be intimate with her. Her husband was nowhere to be seen. She composed herself and asked him why he was doing this to her and Chepngotei said he was just helping her out because he knew that she was longing for male company.

He tried to wrestle her down again but Maria asked him to go slow as she was willing to sleep with him. Chepngotei got excited and lavished praises on her.

Maria asked him to undress as she also prepared herself. This disarmed him completely. She then asked him to lie on his back, which he did. The old man was beside himself with excitement as she touched him.

Seeing that she had disarmed him, Maria went for the offending organ. She held it between her hands and twisted it so hard, the old man almost went limp with
pain. She held it firmly as Chepngotei asked for forgiveness. Blood spurted from the injured member. He lay lame and helpless as Maria bombarded him with
insults.

A neighbour responded to the old man’s cries for mercy. On seeing what was happening, he was tongue-tied and ran to call other villagers. The old man was rescued and rushed to hospital. On recovery, he did not even press charges against Maria.

It was unbelievable that Chepngotei could do such a thing. He has been cut down to size and does not talk about womens’ issues. He lost his dignity and his ego suffered miserably.

Ref Kenya

After smarting from ballots to bullets scene,Kenyans are now faced with another worst problem of loomimg starvation where food levels in Kenya are at low and the government warning is everything will be finished by august 2008.

We are left to wonder how are we going to handle this putting in mind that we have the challenges of relocating of IDPs Internally Dispalced People due to elections violence that occured in Kenya 2007 general elections.

Hunger or starvation is never a good thing to joke about as it.

SHOULD BEING A LUO MUST EQUALS EXTREME POVERTY IN KENYA ?

Rev Okoth, Odhiambo and all with that good intention.

There is more to Dominion that I have come to understand by going through past efforts to put the issue straight.

We must stop exchanging in the negative about Dominion investments in Yala. We must also not close our eyes to the excesses of the project.

Well, Rev Okoth and his team and / or allies – we all need an economic empowerment and I believe we should direct that energy in the same way Bwana Nyandoto or K’Onyiego suggested in one of their letters calling for ‘unity of purpose’.

I want to believe that Mr Odhiambo’s correspondances with Mr Calvin were in good faith to protect what is rightfully ours. We should not try to distort facts. Dominion is an investor and must seek informed, knowledgeable and selfless allies from the community to be able to explain their cause and proceed with the project without interference.

And again it is all voluntary and for KCDN to ask that some resources should be invested in them by Dominion to help facilitate the former rally support for the project should not be misconstrued to be extortion.

Rev Otura I sincerely agree with you in some of your emails but it does not help to issue threats to our own. We may have varying opinions but that should not be reason for mudslinging.

Chris Owalla’s action is informed by several environmental and social studies about the project and its impact on the locals. We can only try to correct him but not abuse.

As for me I am supporting the cause but will never subscribe to excesses of Dominion.

Hallo Atha,

I am not trying to threated anyone but I will maintain that it is unlawful for an individual to seek US $ 12 000 bribe from an investor to defend legal investment enacted by the Parliament laws such as Dominion Farms.

In addition many people do not understand that in the Canada / USA / EU it is illegal for investors to bribe their way to invest anywhere in the world, by doing such would subject them to criminal prosecution.

Dominion Farms went though all the government process to have the project installed and therefore it is upon the government to protect all its investment initiatives from detractors and schemers such as Odhiambo Oketch and Owalla.

Nyanza and Kisumu City investment opportunities:

Right now in Kisumu even the boda boda bicycles, bikes, tug-tug and taxis are own by the Asians / Kikuyus / Kissis. The rental houses in Kisumu belongs to the Asians/Kikuyus/Kissi, motels and Hotels entrainment joints are mostly own by the outsiders.

Every Sunday Asians / Kikuyus / Kissi drive large trucks full of merchandise and food stuff to Kisumu-Kibuye markets for sales to luos consumers, while the entire shops in Nyanza are owned by the Asians / Chinese / Kikiyus / Kissis.

While luos residing in other parts of Kenya, majority are laborers working in tea or coffee farms in Central or Rift Valley.

In the major cities luos are the occupants of the inhumane slams shanties and laborers in all the Industrial areas in Nairobi, Mombasa and Nakuru.

The recent post election violence should have been a lesson but it seems it will take someone like “Odera Kango to come from the grave” to have luos set up new development agenda.

The worse enemy of luos are the luos themselves. The late Roudh Goro, Mzee Adala Otuko, once told me that late Kenyatta thwarted the Luo Thrift Trade Union and made a secret economy policy that “BEING A LUO MUST EQUALS EXTREME POVERTY” .

Did the late Adala bought that ? NO ! NO ! He and the late Jaramogi believe that luoland is sleeping economical giant and will one day wake up to take its roll in Kenyan economical power. However, it will take luos to dying to themselves to bring about such dream to a reality.

My team here in diaspora will continue seeking major investments to the luoland and no amount of intimidation will stop us from economically transforming the luoland. Any attempt will be met with an equal defensive mechanism.

Meanwhile, I will urge the luos to start just with any small investments such as boda boda bicycles, bikes, tug-tug, taxis and matatu.

Jothurwa, weche to be jowa ose wacho ndi, to koro sani wan e loch kar ka joma goyo koko otemie okelie investment moko wakony godo luo. Penjo: SHOULD BEING A LUO MUST EQUALS EXTREME POVERTY IN KENYA ?

PEACE AND RECONCILIATION CONFERENCE IN SOUTHERN SUDAN
BY JOSEPH ADERO NGALA
NAIROBI – KENYA
APRIL 30, 2008

SUDAN TAKE 2

It is a sunny morning and a team of facilitators has gathered at People for Peace in Africa’s Westlands office in readiness for a trip to Torit Catholic Diocese, Southern Sudan.

The team consisting of Bishop Linus Okok of Kisumu, five men and two ladies leaves Jomo Kenyatta International Airport aboard East African Air Lines shortly after 3.30 pm local time and landed safely at Lokichoggio air strip before chattering another plane which took off shortly after 5.20 pm to Torit Catholic Diocese where the reconciliation workshop is to take place.

The plane touched down at exactly 6.07 pm at Torit airstrip and the team is met by hundreds of Torit residents who for a week have been longing to welcome them in their territory. Southern Sudanese love visitors, especially those who come to share with them their joy and sorrows.

Like other parts of southern Sudan, Torit is one of the areas that have suffered a great deal. People have suffered since 1983, when the Khartoum regime’s troops invaded the area. The ensuing battles between government troops and the rebel SPLA forces caused the displacement of thousands, internally as well as externally.

Among the people who suffered with them include Bishop emeritus Paride Taban who for more than fifteen years of suffering, imprisonment, bombing and fleeing has courageously continued ministering to and fighting for his displaced flock.

The fighting which pits the north, mostly Islamic and Arab and much better developed, against the south, which is Christian and animist. The war has contributed to a famine in 1988 that caused an estimated 250,000 deaths.

Teoddy Achilo Lotto, the diocesan secretary while introducing us to the conference hall at Bishop’s residence gave a little history of People for Peace in Africa (PPA) who has collaborated with the diocese for a very long time.

Some of the collaboration she said is working with women group, some of whom lost their husbands and relatives during the war. PPA took a key role to train trainers of trainers (TOTs) in Peace and Justice, Trauma healing and Reconciliation.

Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek, a Sudanese bishop for Torit known for his strong stand on Justice and Peace issue in southern Sudan introduced the workshop and remarked that a number of traumatized people in Torit and the entire south were alarming.

In 2000 bishops of Sudan were in Kenya’s coastal town of Mombasa and it took time for people to understand what trauma was all about. Tension is everywhere and just a click lights the fire, for people who have enjoyed 8 years of peace since 1972.

The people of Sudan reflected on the 1975-78 memories of what had happen earlier regarding slavery and this brought a lot of problems. It was difficult to preach in church about forgiveness and the way forward since silence only brought a lot of forgiveness and built in anger.

Later after the bombing of the diocesan headquarter into ruins and the youth came to build the whole place believing God would make changes, the revenge would not solve any problems and that education of the children was important so that they learn what happened in the past, experience they wish should not happen again.

Among the trainers included Fr Tom McDonnell, a Maryknoll missionary and native of New York a well known psychotherapist who has worked with traumatized people after Rwanda Genocide and also with Kenya in 1991 during the famous ethnic clashes.

He said the concept of justice that we see through our eyes people killing one another with Machetes is not God ways of justice. The riots and the fighting he said is destroying peace and brings about trauma. “I am here to do the beginning of healing with all the brothers and sisters in Sudan”, he said.

Day two of the conference was Fr Joachim Omolo’s, a member of the Apostles of Jesus to train. In his own right he told the participants that the teaching is not only for adults but also for the youth and children so that as they grow their consciences are well formed.

Peace Education father Omolo said is an attempt to respond to problems of conflict and violence. Justice and peace Education is not solution to the conflicts and violence and that is why it is an attempt to solve problems.

Father Omolo adds when we talk about conflicts it’s simply defined the conflicts and as Global National and Personal. He cited example in Kenya when there was post election violence with people claiming their votes were stolen and this brought conflict and violence.

It affected the neighboring countries especially Uganda, Rwanda where a liter of fuel was Ksh 100 and with the violence and conflict the fuel went to Ksh 400. So it was not only nationally but globally, as people were affected at the same time.

He also said that Justice and Peace education becomes meaningful when it adopts the social and cultural way to built and have a one nation, the question that arises is how can we utilize that and come to social growth.

He pointed out that Justice and Peace \Education is an educational response to human violence and aims at protecting children’s mind, build a peaceful world, necessary knowledge attitude and skills of how they can handle conflicts and how they can talk of justice and peace at schools, homes, churches and mosques.

He gave good examples of many African societies where conflicts have resulted to internal displacement and refugees have flee their country with the most vulnerable propelled being women and their children. Women have also been raped in such situations. Which is why we should not only talk about peace education but also look for solutions to the problem, there should be conflict management and resolutions so that justice is done, without which there is no peace.

The results from group discussion sessions raised most important issues such as exploitation of natural resources, lack of clear policy on oil sector and land ownership. Sudan is the biggest country in Africa in oil production.

They said donors have been very helpful especially in building hospitals, schools and more important for the Geneva Global Inc fund which through PPA was able to organize this big peace conference in Sudan. PPA has a long background with Sudan and also acted as the main mediator during the peace agreement which started off in 1991.

The topic for the third and fourth day was: community out reach, sensitization and education presented by Tanzanian born Mrs. Wasa Shoo, a graduate in Gender studies from University of Nairobi and expert in peace education and community out reach.

She said peace education that enable people living together, sharing, communion, coming together to fulfill the will of God, come together with a cultural background with a common purpose was the only way forward for a lasting peace.

During the training workshop one thing came very clearly that CPA didn’t address the ownership of land and subterranean natural resources however, the parties agreed to institute process’s /to progressively develop and amend the relevant laws to incorporate customary laws and practices, local heritage and international trends.

While the leader is active in defining agendas and setting out its terms, it is also paying, greater attention to addressing almost every aspect of peoples lives. This can be seen in the minute detail of the compressive peace Agreement (CPA) which the SPLM has signed with the Islamist government.

The most important political success of the CPA is that it has practically and effectively discredited the racist, religious propaganda of the NIF in wider regions in southern Sudan, while bringing dignity and freedom of expression to northern Sudanese armed movements in Darfur have taken a similar line, and wealth-sharing deals which Sudan, the SPLM/(GOS/SPLM 2004) and recently the Sudanese Liberation movement (SLM) of Darfur signed with government have effectively decreased the power of the ruling lslamists elite.

Why can we NOT move forward and instead keep revolving in this 50-year old time warp???

At the recent KDFC

(www.kenyadevelopmentfundcorp.com) launch in Florida, I witnessed first hand how friends of Kenya admire the intelligence and resolve of a NEW GENERATION of Jokanyanam. LET US MOVE FORWARD and live the CYNICS behind.

DOMINION IS HERE TO STAY!!! Those individuals from Siaya and Bondo Districts (councilors???) who have been compromised should face the FULL FORCE of the law.

My two cents worth…

Jokanyanam,

I think it is a high time that Jokanyanam must think critically our economic destiny. I am not coming from the neighborhood of Siaya and Bondo but if anything we have witnessed, the DOMINION Project has changed the community around these areas to the better.

I wish like-minded people term up with local community to form a lobby group to prtect the project from red-eyed councilors from messing up with the project.

MANY ARE LIKELY TO JOIN & SUPPORT SUCH A LOBBY Group.

But just If the DOMINION managers have decided to move why try WEST KANO Irrigation?

Action speaks louder than words. Why dont we come together to form organizations, pool money together, then collectively bargain for Loans with banks that can enable usrevive these projects or start new ones.

If any of you dont believe that Action speaks louder than words and togetherness can bring huge changes then I would refer you to check what is happening at Komarocks Community Development Network. It is all action. Without that kind of move then JJ (Jaluo Jeuri) will keep writing history and history for ever and ever AMEN. But one thing is for sure that the people will continue to be poor.

So LET us move either by supporting and pooling money in those organizations started by Jaluos and which are already in motion to make a difference, or alternatively, You can come together and start New ones. The bottom line is that, in all cases you must move your Butt out there to creat some action.

Press Release: Memorandum from Nyanza church leaders to Nyanza Provincial Commissioner

A Success of Capital Investment in Nyanza has been a serious concern to the leaders and residents of this region for long. This matter has made us, Nyanza Church Leaders, to make an urgent and passionate appeal to the government and leaders especially from this region to ensure that Economic growth of the residents were placed as a priority.

It is on this ground that we feel it is crucial for us as religious leaders to present this Memorandum to the government through you as PC of Nyanza in a bid to attracting more investments to Nyanza and safeguarding those we already have in this region.

We feel it is important for leaders from this region, residents and the investors who have put huge sums of money into projects especially in Nyanza to have confidence in one another if the projects are to fully benefit the people.

One of these key investors is Dominion farms who have a huge project in Siaya/Bondo Districts of Nyanza Province in Kenya. Currently, there is a debate about the farms operations in the area, a situation we feel is unnecessary as we believe it is just geared towards scaring away investors from region.

The church is aware that there are under hand maneuvers by certain local leaders in Siaya and outside who are engaging Dominion Farms seeking financial favors and are threatening the farm with unwarranted measures or actions.

The church has intercepted certain letters written by some councilors from Siaya County Council (Names withheld) who have colluded to demand huge kickbacks and other favors pretending that they can protect the interest of Dominion farms.

We as the Nyanza Church Leaders condemn the actions of these local leaders and call upon the government to investigate this circus of corruption immediately and the culprits brought to book and justice to be seen to be done in this matter.

We have reliable information that the investor at Dominion Farms is being coerced into paying monies to the Siaya County Council for services that are dubious.

The church has in custody of such payment proceeds and is alarmed at the rising corruption at the council.

We heard from the investor that he paid Siaya County Council the sum of 6 million shillings and that money was deposited in a bank in Kisumu and can not be traced.

We, the church uphold transparency, accountability and honesty in the dispensation of public services and promotion of investor interest, wherever such investment take place in the Nation of Kenya.

It would be in bad taste for our local leaders to be seen as frustrating the efforts made by the Government of the Republic of Kenya of attracting Foreign and Local Investments. Particularly our leaders in Nyanza will come out to protect and attract investors from wherever.

As the church leaders we will always invite investors such as Calvin Burgess of Dominion Farms to feel and appreciate the need of consulting before going public.

We welcome investors around the world to come and invest in Kisumu and other parts of Nyanza and Kenya at large and their interest will be fully protected.

Subject: Dominion will not leave Luoland !!!

– – – – – – – – – – –

To all the Winam Jimbo !

Kindly be informed that everything is now in control, “DOMINION WILL NOT LEAVE LUOLAND”, in fact we have several major investors planing to join us to inject billions of shillings in our region once the Majimbo Constitution is enacted.

The battle has been won, and some of the Dominion employees have been reinstated back to work, while the suspects are helping police with investigation.

We have weathered many storms in the past and current wave is desperation attempt from our detractors to derail economical transformation in luoland.

Further more, the feasibility studies to have similar projects with the Luos in Tanzania and South Sudan is at advance stage with the said two governments.

The late Jaramogi said that “luoland is capable to be food basket for East Africa” and since Kisumu is rapidly becoming the business and transport hub of the Great Lake Region, it is upon the developmental conscience luos to take advantage and join the economical transformation before outsiders take up the strategic and lucrative business opportunities.

This is not the first time for such viable project to be opposed, (“kod adhoke mag jo-luo”) we were called names when we were fund raising for the revival of “Molasses Plant” but that did not stop Spectre International to partner with Canadian and the South African inventors to revived the project.

Now that we are in the government, we must move swiftly to empower our people economically. It is time for luos to engage in constructive and developmental politics not theories or activism.

The staunch diaspora luo patriots, our homeland elected leaders, professionals and appropriate development partners cross the world, are in campaign trail to revise the provocative saying from Okuche kod Kisiche ni “BEING A LUO EQUALS EXTREME POVERTY”

Ref Biofuels

The best incovinience truth about energy crisis facing the world is basicaly inability of mankind to plan well

The fate of resolving fuel crisis lies in the hands of our politicians, media and businessmen.

-if the politicians worldwide can make good laws then we may perhaps stifle this unprecented fuel price rises

-If the media educate the public the need to conserve the energy then we may reduce wastage of energy a

Lastly If the last category business people ,if they can reduce their appetite for big profit margins I believe we shall solve this crisis

Statistics shows that energy consumptions are rising so fast that nobody knows what will happen. I may say we are in era of ‘oilflation’

We do not need binoculars to undertsand what multiplier effects that oil crisis has brought, everything is up up

I may kindly ask will clamour for biofuels solve this crisis?

Maybe Genetically Modified Organisms(GMOs) will be a solution if not a problem?

Observe news of business & politics of our world concerning future resources supplies (notably energy), environment, economic health. An initial look at the reported info suggests that organized planning capabilities (inside institutions for businesses & governments at least) seems to have declined to very low levels.

Further scrutiny though, informed by reference to info and views found in publications outside the media main stream, suggests an updated interpretation.  You may thus uncover speculations or claims as to subtle manipulations of current affairs trends and planning by some other entities, according to motives or values not in keeping with most citizens’ interests or values.

Biofuels do have merit.  So do many other innovations which have the strong potential to improve economic prosperity for most people, not merely the top tip of an economic pyramid.

On this world, and in the bountiful realms of outer space there can be obtained resource supplies in abundance.  Energy and materials intensive manufacturing in space away from our biosphere has the potential to yield plentiful goods and services, while decreasing environmental impacts here in this biosphere.

Bio-tech and nanometer scale manufacturing likewise can be further developed and applied in ways to enhance general public well-being, environmental quality, and moves toward domestic and international tranquility.

These alternate directions are far better than maintenance of the petroleum energy dependance and associated gunboats & Sabre rattling old style business as usual.  It may take great effort by those who share this desire for building cultural & economic improvements to win out despite apparent malicious selfish influences which hinder movement toward these aims.
