Kenya: Artists United against Corruption

from odhiambo okecth

Friends,

Kenyan artists have come together and they are in serious vocal practice and rehearsals in preparations for the 22nd October 2010. This team is being led by Mr. Alphamaton- A Kisima Award Winner in 2007- Social Responsibility Category.

We also have the youth from Kariobangi who have been in practice and they will present a verse. You will not want to miss it.

We are also happy to note that Nairobi People’s Settlement Network have confirmed their participation.This beefs up our numbers.

Corruption is a social evil that we must exorcise from amongst us. As Kenyans, we face many challenges that are a direct consequence of the vice. 47 years into Independence, we still have challenges in land distribution and ownership, Judiciary, education, water sector, electricity etc, and many of these challenges are by design.

Corruption affects our lives daily and it is time we did something about it. It is not just enough to sit and wait as we lay blame somewhere else. It is time we took to the centre of this and joined hands in the campaign.

If we all become goodwill ambassadors and agents against corruption, we shall have made the first step. This is what we are calling you to be part of; being part of the front line team member in the fight against corruption.

In all we do, and in all our lives, let us make Kenya a better place to live in.

Lastly, I must thank the following groups for confirming their participation;

Artists United against Corruption
Kenya University Students Association
Matatu Drivers and Conductors Welfare Association
Nairobi Peoples Settlement Network,
Bunge La Mwananchi
Kizazi Kipya Initiative
Safer Nairobi Coalition- SANA
Matatu Welfare Association
Muungano Wa Wanavijiji

We must also keep thanking the following people for their support besides their participation;

Transparency International
Mugumo Communications Ltd
Emergency Medical Services
There are Friends whose participation and support we will announce immediately that is confirmed.

We are looking forward to an enjoyable walk on Friday.

Blow the whistle on corruption.

Peace and blessings,
