Kenya: Launch of 3 in 1 waste separation in Nairobi

From: odhiambo okecth

The Hon Lewis Nguyai- the Assistant Minister in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Local Government yesterday- 23rd October 2010 launched the 3 in 1 separation of waste at source during the 2nd Nairobi City Wide Clean-up Initiative at Westlands.

This was the 2nd phase of the City Wide Clean up campaign that His Worship the Mayor Cllr Geoffrey Majiwa launched last month in Eastleigh.

The function was attended by the City Fathers led by Cllr Charles Atula- Chairman of the Environment Committee, the Director of Environment and her colleagues from other departments, the CCNSET Team members and we were hosted by the Westlands Association led by their Chairman Mr. Rashmin Chitnis and their CEO Ms Petronila Nafula.

On behalf of the CCNSET Team Members, I want to urge Kenyans to embrace the Clean Up Exerccise all across the Country. Let us make this our contribution to reclaiming our lost glory.

As much as we pay taxes, we must join hands and demand for service delivery. This can be best achieved by coming into partnerships with the relevant arms of Government where we can engage directly with the concerned officers as we lay down our demands as a country.

Time has come for us Kenyans to become pro active. The 47 years we have given to our political leaders and Chief Officers has been abused because we have all chosen to whine from far. They have taken this void to loot the country dry as they group us into tribes for their own defenses when caught with their hands in the till.

It is our belief and hope that Kenyans can open a new chapter of partnership that is service demand driven. It will help us put the Government and the Chief Officers on toes and Kenya will be propelled to the next phase with ease.

We must use such partnership to demand that all the corrupt people are shown the door, the proceeds from their corrupt deals confiscated, and them jailed. We must stop worshiping the corrupt who seek tribal shelter. We must expose them for what they are; vermins.

The time is now and the time for the corrupt is up. Let them gang up and face Kenyans in the next elections. We will have the opportunity of counting them with ease.

Peace and blessings,
