Reports Leo Odera Omolo In Kisumu City.

A prominent Luo technocrat has warned the current members of Parliament from the community not to concentrate on campaign for the new positions created by the establishment of Counties.

Premature campaign would hamper the services, and even squander the government revolved money for economic infrastructure. There is problem in the proper utilization of CDF money and between this and next years each constituency would have received close of Kshs 120 million, this colossal amount of money is meant for development.

But there is now the tendencies whereby the MPs appeared to have abandoned their responsibilities of supervising the projects being undertaken by the local community and which are funded with CDF money.

Mark Matunga, prominent politician from Mbita district was speaking at the St.Catholic Church, Simenya9in Ugenya during a fund drive for the church. Matunga acted as the Chief Guest and had replayed the former Marie Stoppie Clinics country director Cyprian Otieno Awiti, who at the time was presiding over Harambee for the burial of the top polygamist the Late Ancentus Akuku Danger in Ndhiwa.

Matunga who has already declared his interest in the Homa-Bay County governorship and friends gave Kshs 120,000n Ugenya constituency, the Lands Minister James Orengo gave Kshs 150,000 while the managing director of Mumias Sugar Company Dr. Evans Kidero gave Kshs 50,000 and Mrs Mary Onyango the vice chairperson of the Cohesion Commission gave Kshs 200,000.

Matunga said between this year and next year, each constituency would have received Kshs 120 million for development activities. This money must be utilized to the maximum, and MPs as the patron of the CDF fund must ensure the proper utilization of the same before jumping into campaign for the positions created in the Counties.

The .Abandoning the project for the campaign would mean abdication from duties and responsibility. He advised the MPs to discharge their duties diligently. They are one who in charge and if they abandon the project, local committees could possibly vandalize the project. The MP’s mandate is still in force until the end of the year 2012. As for now, the MPS are the one answerable for any slightest mistake..

The MPs should concentrate on delivery of the services to the electorate as their promised in 2007 and must not ump the ships, running for position created in the new Counties by the new constitution.
