A highly esteemed Kasarani.com member has asked a valid question. Is Kasarani committed to free press?
The Kasarani team would like to take this opportunity, first to thank our active bloggers for the brilliant work they have done to build this site. To answer our esteemed member Joram Ragem, Kasarani.com is committed to a *responsible free press*.
Kasarani.com provides a genuine service to members: providing tools for social networking and expression of thoughts and ideas. However, we have responsibilities and terms of service that writers in particular should be aware of. Here is a link to the Kasarani.com site terms of service http://www.kasarani.com/help_tos.php. Here is a link to the Kasarani Blogs Editorial Policy http://www.kasarani.com/blogs_editorial_policy.php
For those members who missed it, there were a couple of bloggers who posted blogs that crossed the line. They advocated *killing* members of a particular tribe in Kenya for ruining the economy.Kenyans are still hurting from the post elections violence and we do not want Kasarani to be used in anyway to promote violence. The blogs were online for about 2 hours. That is irresponsible blogging that is against the Kasarani.com terms of service.
We implemented a new filtering system that unfortunately had a bug that prevented members from posting blogs. We only realized this after one of our key bloggers, Alen Wekesa, informed the site developers. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
Thank you for being a Kasarani.com member.
P/S – Kasarani is a work in progress, we are building the site everyday. If you notice something missing or have a suggestion, please let us know http://www.kasarani.com/help_contact.php.
