It is Hon. Raila Odinga’s job to protect his flock at the time of persecution. As a Prime Minister he certainly has no excuse not to be addressing the real issues affecting his political base. Amongst this is economic sabotage – Miwani Sugar Company sale, disenfranchisement, discrimination, political murders etc.
Why would two top Luo Army Officers be retired or fired adhoc without any tangible reasons.
Are you sure Maj. General Okanga is a Luo? But that is not important anyway. We as Luos should desist from dragging an entire community into a purely personal affair. Although there could be evidence of nepotism and favouritism in allocating jobs in our key national instituitions, a better of way out would be to mindful of other Kenyans and present grievances as a national affair.
Raila’s method of leadership is different from what we have been accustomed to. Kenyatta ruled by decree, Moi was the embodiment of mediocrity, and Kibakis aloofness, belies a rudderless stewardship of the state. Raila is a national leader, who has taken the task of uniting Kenyans after the rough period we went through. In this task he has performed admirably, so what if two Luo officers have been retired? This is a non issue, Kibaki will encourage nepotism, but what else is new? Let Kibaki create his legacy, Raila is already curving out his legacy.

I can bet my life on Maj. Okanga not being from the Kikuyu. Do not pretend to be out of touch with the today’s Kenya, replacing the military top brass with those of his own ethnic group should surely get even those with nothing between the ears thinking about the possible ulterior motives.
All in all I am against the blatant inequitable distribution of “national” resources that kenya has witnessed post 2002 AD. All positions from top to bottom should reflec with power.
Now a joke. A colleague from work recently told me that after the plunder of public assets in Kenya, the latest being the Grand Regency, the plunderers shall sell all your souls to Gadaffi and like. I replied that were lucky, Tippu tip is no more.
