Warsama,

There are no permanent enemies in Politics. I use that principle allthe time. That is why whenever it is not about Politics against ODM, you and me are the best of Friends. But, when you touch my beloved ODM, daggers of mouth get drawn very quickly.

Equally the same, I apply this principle to the die-hard UDF fans like Wa Mwangi; particularly when he and other people start singing loudly about UDF instead ODM. Away from this Siasa we are very good buddies. Politics is like those who take beer: when they are in the Bar and after taking one too many for the road and excess for the Bar, you may see folks who will argue and abuse one another. Yet when they sober up, they will be asking one another, eti, kwani jana ni nini ilifanyika? Mzee, nilikuwa nimelewa mpaka hata sijui nilifikaje nyumbani. With that you will see them head back to the Bar for more drink.

Politics also intoxicates in the same manner. Moi came and went, together with his Total Man. Kibaki also is there but behind the scene, UK is pulling the strings. Sooner or later, they will be gone. Raila Odinga will also come with another yet to be known Total man; who will be pulling strings behind the scene. But, in the end, they will also pave way to another Leadership. Despite all this, Voters still live on; bedeviled by either bad Governance or good Governance

It is with that in mind that some of us have seen the light and found it fit to avoid creating Social enemies. Neither must Kenyans create permanent political enemies. It only helps to lead the country towards retrogressive development. Au siyoo?

What pro-democracy reformers would go out of their way to seek the company of ex-retired President Moi whose regime was ruthless in cracking down on activists in the Second Liberation ?

Can you imagine Martha Karua having a church date with Moi ? Come to think of it, I have never seen her pictures taken in the company of the retired President.

But here was Raila and a whole retinue of party loyalists including – wonders will never cease ! – Lands Minister James Orengo in Kabarak University Sunday Service with the former Prezzo.

The Man From Sacho took care to instruct Raila not to talk politics at the service and the PM agreed. But he could not resist lavishing praise on Moi calling him a nationalist whose contributions to Kenya were valued.

Said Raila: “Mzee Moi we appreciate your contribution to the country when you were in power and even now in retirement I am proud of what you did. You are still giving a lot of hopeless Kenyans a lot of hope even long after your retirement.” He said Moi’s decision to donate 1,000 acresof his land to learning institutions was a milestone.

Raila and Ida, who chatted animatedly with Moi, said they were pleased to worship with him at Kabarak.Moi escorted Raila to his car and then chatted with Orengo of all people !

Raila later conveyed to a rally in Eldama Ravine greetings from Mzee Moi. Beneath a picture on front page showing Raila and Moi chatting and smiling in church, The Star said Raila was planning analliance with the former President that would see Kanu cooperate with ODM at the next polls.

In exchange, Raila will back Gideon Moi’s political ambitions.

How does that square with Raila’s July 7 statement that he is best placed man for carrying out reforms?

Ironically alongside it was a report quoting Infotrack’s latest opinion poll that majority of Kenyans favour a man of high integrity as next President.
