Vs: Re: KENYANs and ECONOMY the Way Forward – HARD FACTS

Folks,

My views about current prompting questions in many peoples MINDS that whether Kenya is on strategic economic growth development for future generation in current political regime i.e. the coalition partnership of government by PNU and ODM ( of the Extraordinary Political Measures) – as well as if there is a different strategy appropriate for the same to be adopted or better still are Kenyans knowledgeable about economy?

Being an EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES faced with an EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES; I may wish to input that the Newly appointed government Ministries will be OFFICIALLY sworn in so the Government may be operational – and in their AGENDA they will have to involve Kenyan Community from the LOCAL VILLAGE COMMUNITY (Chief Baraza’s) into BRAINSTORMING as part of a working team in finding solution to POVERTY ERADICATION, INNOVATIVE CREATIVE THINKING towards Job Creation and SKILLFUL TALENT IMPLEMENTATION and together with work out programs/projects for equitable evolving economy for the benefit of all Kenyans as well as resolving today’s economic challenges facing MILLENIUM. Women being the majority in the Village Level should be given priority slot in the Committee Board of Membership followed by the Youth then the Men. This must be done with a clear mind that CORRUPTION MUST BE WIPED OUT. A clear cut election between Raila and Kibaki be mooted in the next 6 to 12 months so with a
fresh ELECTED ECK Commission, so that Kenyans can have a LEGITIMATE GOVERNMENT with manageable MINISTRIES which Kenyans as Tax-Payers can afford.

I believe Leaders will form council meetings from their localities and will engage the community into Regional process of strategic planning outreach where they will discuss what makes regions stable or unstable and how regional performance will focus on goals for prosperity to compete globally while partnering for common interest on clusters that performs economic development. This will include long term planning, public outreach where inputs will be generated, professionals, colleges, Faith Based, NGOs, businesses, financing institutions and lobbyists. They will look at needs assessments and what drives economy to growth or makes it stalls. They will DISCOVER, DEVELOP AND DEPLOY through innovative technology and adjusts according to changing needs. They will mobilize and utilize all available human resources and skills to fix physical infrastructures as necessary e.g. (human skills includes performing arts, special talents, promotion of cultural and traditional local music, theatrical traditional African family middle or low class outlook entertainment opportunity for everyone alongside the village day-to-day lifestyle) and together identify the direct and indirect economic development goals as available in EVERY GOVERNMENT MINISTRIES to Enhance older commercial corridors that have not been implemented or done shoddy in order to build a neighborhood connection to economic vitality. Leaders with the help of others will develop a unique and distinct vision for e.g. KISUMU CITY, establish in the District Level, libraries and workforce development for school leavers, internships, research etc., provide an environment that promotes quality living and challenges that will provide for expansion to a sustainable achievable economic development. Ensure that all Kenyans live in a safe and affordable housing. Several common sense and themes will emerge from these Chief Camp Committees e.g.

• Continually Improve Higher Quality of Life for Constituents. This will attract residents and businesses to the City.
• Participate in Regional Economic Dynamics. Understand economic clusters driving the Region, embrace businesses that choose to locate near the Localities instead of in the City, and continue to seek opportunities to diversify the City’s economy away from the Headquarters.
• Identify City’s Role in Promoting Economic Development. Move away from direct subsidy, and instead focus on infrastructure improvements and deregulation (permitting, air quality, and other constraints) to help with business attraction and retention.
• Promote Workforce Development. Match/develop employee skills with desired firms and industries.
• Develop Vision, Identity, and Destination for Downtown Kisumu Strengthen position as the hub of the Region by facilitating more Regional cultural, civic, entertainment, and economic activities Downtown.
• Redevelop Commercial Corridors, especially Older Corridors. Evaluate ability to accommodate mix of housing, retail and other uses. Also, create identity for different neighborhoods.
• Prioritize NGOs and Faith Based Activities. focus on more strategies from Local Level Chief’s Camp Committee. Also, examine funding sources for NGOs and its relationship with the Redevelopment Agency.

REGIONAL ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE

Region’s economy has been stagnant BUT can be salvaged from its traditional role in Government Ministries and Agriculture to include a more diversified base utilizing inputs from especially Professional and Business Services and Education and Health Services. Investors would want to reflect on past performances from the Region’s recorded economy.

ECONOMIC CLUSTERS

A region’s economic performance is driven by its ‘portfolio’ of economic clusters. Clusters are concentrations of related sectors and industries, their shared suppliers, and supporting public and private providers of economic inputs, such as human resources, technology and innovation, finance, infrastructure, and governance. Clusters typically export their products and services from the region (bringing in new sterling pounds and dollars). A healthy economy has a diverse portfolio of competitive and newly emerging clusters. Clusters succeed through their use of formal and informal networks which link producing firms, suppliers, and economic input providers. Experience and research from around the world has demonstrated that tight localized networks of companies, which collaborate as well as compete, are better able to foster innovation and adapt to rapid market changes than isolated companies. Clusters are important to a region for two reasons. First, clusters comprise a value chain of economic activities that generate high multipliers in a regional economy. This is called “cluster depth.” For this reason clusters are more valuable to a region than individual plants. Second, clusters typically comprise a diverse array of output sectors (that is, they serve different end markets with similar product technologies and skills) and for this reason can help a region weather economic cycles.

CLUSTERS OF OPPORTUNITY

Workforce and Development Agency, defines clusters of opportunity as clusters that are driven by population growth and offer employment opportunities for regional residents.

We would classify Health & Medical Services being the largest cluster of opportunity, followed by Energy, Cooperative, Agriculture, Land, Tourism, Immigration, Management and the transfer of quality manpower, Creative and Business Services, and Computer, and Electronic Manufacturing e.g.
project/Program Strategy
Small Business will thrive from penetrating to Community outreach while resources coordination together with dissemination of multiple project facilitation, business resources and programs from Marketing and Financial Incentives. Retention and expansion will follow from Attraction. Measurable timetable by the GOVERNMENT MINISTRIES will attract International Investors.

Lack of financial incentives limits effectiveness in Economic Development reality. Confidence in commitment to improve small business development relations will provide incentives to INVESTORS to commit to Business Development Relations. These programs when taken seriously as stated will help develop and create market interest activities from its stagnation.

God Bless you all,

Best of Luck!!!!!!!!

Nyamera,

I must start by defending the men. We seem to be the lost group, the forsaken, the wretched of the earth, simply because, all agencies, be they government or donor, are only talking of the girl child, the youth (most probably the girl youth), and the women.

They never talk about the men.

Be that as it may, we have gotten used to it, and we give all the women that much needed access to equal opportunities. That is also firmly my desire, all these grand standings not withstanding.

You have raised some very serious issues that need clarity of thought. As we now have it, the Grand National Coalition must be made to work. It must be our responsibility to make it work. We must not countenance a situation where we are going back to the ballot sooner.

This government must serve her full five year term. And many reasons call for this.

The first issue we have is the issue of our brothers and sisters who have been displaced in that unnecessary strife that followed on the botched process that was the General Election. Let us have these people resettled and compensated and made to feel as part of Kenyans once more.

We need their votes in any contest.

Secondly, we must clear the issue of the new constitutional dispensation. This will come with clear time frames. In the envisaged changes, institutions must be given full autonomy.

The Judiciary must be made clearly independent. Judges must be appointed strictly on their ability to pay homage to the law, not to the appointing authorities.

The Kenya Police must be retrained. We have incidences where the police are serving personal interests instead of enforcing the law as is laid out. We have incidences where terror gangs plan mayhem and the police are as surprised as the ordinary citizen.

This calls for retraining of the CID and NSIS officers. Maybe the whole departments ought to be demolished and set up a new.

The prices of essential commodities has gone way beyond the reach of the common man. We need this government to rein on this, and make life a bit more bearable once more to the common man.

The cost of fuel has been on the rise surely as the suns comes from the east and sets on the west. Immediate measures must be taken to forestall this. Just like the cost of renting a house has been on the rise.

The new government must come up with affordable and spacious housing scheme that will make Kenyans live in dignity.

We have no road to Western Kenya, and it is imperative that this government builds one immediately. I would want to drive to my home in Yimbo Othach, in Bondo District in 3 hours.

I cannot do that now, simply because we have no road.

We have something called Free Primary Education. I can tell you that it has never been free. I used to pay only Kshs 20 for a whole term when I was in school. And that ensured me free books and utilities.

With the current FPE, parents are still as burdened as hunters are. The new government must address this.

Plus a myriad of other things, this government needs the whole of that 5 year mandate to have this settled. After that, Kenyans can be called out to pass judgement, and make new appointments.

To fulfill the areas you have mentioned, time is of essence. And we cannot fix those issues within 12 months as we will be pre occupied with electoral politics at the expense of service delivery.

If you read the Captains job application, he points out that infrastructure will be the first, the second and the third priority of his government. He says that he is the Bridge to the Kenya we all want.

We cannot build that Kenya with prospects of uncertainty hanging on our shoulders.

Odhis,

As much as I agree with what you say, my concern is based on tricky sneeky schemes by Uhuru Kenyatta, John Michuki, Wetangula, Martha Karua, Mt. Kenya Mafia etc., who have presently bankrolled Mungiki to disorganize smooth running of the government and the disturbance of peace Kenyans badly needs; the bulking of Raila and Kibaki to face the doors after this term ending in order to pave way for Uhuru come next election, the consolidation and concentration of power and finances (an OPEN CHECK) by the Mt. Kenya Mafia – the terrorism and marginalization as well as manipulation of the rest of Kenyans who are not of Kikuyu tribe so to live in fear but to bow down to Kikuyu leadership, the rest of the country to be made squarters for survival of the few terrorists as supremacy Kingship in Kenya, the Kikuyus to remain International Economic negotiators and Stock Exchange Brokers for Kenyan National Resources – the list is endless.

This being so, my worry is with the now BLOATED CABINET the reason is to drive Kenyans squeezed to the BONE so they can give up DEMOCRATIC struggle and succumb to striken death bed poverty. Kenyans MORAL has been destroyed UNLESS someone comes to CHALLENGE this cooperation at the earliest convenience before its too late. ODM did not receive 50 by 50 CABINET share though the Leadership of ODM have wholly accepted the SLAP ON THE FACE – for the sake of PEACE as it is, their acceptance therefore, can only be respected with a CALL for 6 to 12 months election after its ESTABLISHMENT since the formation of the government according to KENYANS is NOT LEGITIMATE and they Kenyans have no faith in it.

In this case and in a foreseable future, THIS BLOATED ILLIGITIMATE GOVERNMENT cannot work to accomplish any meaningful Economic Development in a badly wounded and fractured Socia/political environment however willingly the Citizens of Kenya would want to especially as it is in KENYA TODAY. There is already no MOTIVATION from the rest of Kenyans whatsover to create any conducive atmosphere. There HOPE has been dashed. Presently and in this incidence, Kenyans are faced with a TITANIAN AUTHORITATIVE DICTATORSHIP – WHILE the International Community were ready to assist and help Kenyans get rid of this IMPASSE, ODM have decided to succumb to PNU – BUT as a BELIEVER of my FAITH I TRUST that Kenya will be salvaged by somebodyelse if not RAILA. I dont blame RAILA for what he has done so far for Kenyans, maybe he has run out of Ideas or has been BEATEN DOWN. God will not want Kenya to fall out with all the WEALTH of ENDOWMENT of its CITIZENRY – someone will be raised from the DUST to LEAD Kenyans. People are tired of living in an inhuman, underprivilleged without dignity.

Why I Leave MEN LAST is BECAUSE they have time and time again LET KENYANS DOWN. This time round, WOMEN will struggle for WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP for a MEANINGFUL CHANGE – BECAUSE they have no IDEA what MOTHERS go through in the torture of making sure that their children have a meaningful education to face challenges of the future in a life long socio/economic survival development opportunity free from poverty, marginalization and corruption.

Can you imagine?

God Bless you,

Judy,

Your points are good but please listen to my advice. I think that you are not approaching this problem from a good angle. You should try to use simple economic language and avoid giving advice as if you are giving a lecture. You know very well what type of community you want to develop, or you intend to help. So try to approach the problem from the people`s down there prospective of thinking, view, resources and mostly knowledge. Please leave out things like sterling pounds, clusters etc. Because those are written in British books and no where on earth here people use sterling pounds a part from England. I know you have good intentions of upbringing our people up and please try to put yourselves on those mothers, sisters or brothers in Uriri, or Yala, or nyalenda, Kaksingri, Homabay, Rongo, Kanyada etc, how can you enter their brains and uplift their lives, or how can you enter into their brains to make them think and become who you are.

Remember that the present industrial revolution we do see in USA or Europe has taken hundreds of generations to build, and a lot of investment, which includes manforce, machineforce, discoveries, toiling, a lot of brains , a lot of money and finally alot of years to accomplish. I do think the first best way to help Africa is to make an African to start thinking like europeans or USA elites or middle class. Once you have that mind of thinking you will help a lot, we need somebody to wake up people. I still think that even if somebody put a lot of money down there if people do not change their way of thinking very little will happen. Get information on how much USAs or Europeans alone have placed money in AFRICA and you will agree with me. Not all money Europeans has placed in African are taken by politicians or swindled to foreign banks, some have been just put right into peoples food, medicine, clothes, education in Africa. Look very deeply why South Africa is doing well and the other African countries are still behind?. I know you have clear mind and brain but remember your subjects you want to help. This is like a battle ground, in any battle ground you use the simplest language and words to instruct your army, if you make mistakes of using a language some do not understand then you will lose a lot of people in the battle ground and some will end up shooting each other instead of shooting the enemy.

Thanks
Paul Nyandoto.
