EXCERPT:

I suspect the younger ones among us will someday point to the Philadelphia speech of Barack Obama as their latter-day version of the “I Have a Dream” speech. This will have become a watershed moment that signifies a leap forward. It will render all those yammering empty-heads, fear-mongers, and hatred-hawks — who insist on obsessing on selected clips of Pastor Wright in full-eruption mode — suddenly passe, so yesterday, so last century or more, so pitiful, small, and small-minded. It’s as though they can’t make the leap. Their feet, like their minds, are fixed and fixated, embedded in a sociological concrete, leaving them unable to rise to the next level. They’ll forever be philosophical groundlings, as though evolution did not allow them to transcend their lizard phase and sprout wings or sailing skins. We all certainly could go there and wallow in that, Obama said. And the Swiftboat 2.0 crowd surely will. But if they insist on embracing the past, the old, the stale, the obsolete, the increasingly irrelevant, fine. Let them. And let’s leave them there, where they’re sadly comfortable. The rest of us need not join them.

Can America Recognize Greatness When it Sees it?

Posted March 18, 2008 | 10:02 PM (EST)
By Harold Pollack

I don’t know whether Senator Obama will prove to be a great politician or a great president. He has made mistakes, like everyone else on the campaign trail. Circumstance sometimes forces him to be a fairly conventional politician. At times, though, the moment leads him to be something more. This morning, Senator Obama needed that something more. Embattled by public outcry over incendiary statements made by his pastor, Reverend Wright, he faced a deadly threat to his candidacy. And he responded.

Dear Annah,

When Michelle and I decided to enter this race more than a year ago, one of our hopes was to bring people back into the political process.

Like so many Americans, we’d been exhausted and frustrated by the slash-and-burn politics that had come to dominate our elections. Smallness and pettiness were the rule, not the exception. And it seemed like every day, more and more Americans were tuning out their democracy.

This election, we’re seeing something different.

Nearly as many people have participated in the Democratic primary this year than in 2000 and 2004 combined. And there are still ten contests left to go.

As we enter the final stretch of elections, we have a unique opportunity to shape the outcome — and the outcome of elections up and down the ballot this November.

The last day to register new voters in Pennsylvania is March 24th. In North Carolina and Indiana, it’s in early April. And in West Virginia and Kentucky, the voter registration deadline is a little more than a month from today.

So today we’re launching a national initiative to register an unprecedented number of voters in each of the upcoming states.

No matter where you live, you can help get people registered in the upcoming states. You can make phone calls from home, reach out to people you know in these states, or even sign up to travel to one of these states to be on the ground for this massive voter registration effort.

Learn more about what you can do to bring as many voters as possible into the political process:

http://my.barackobama.com/morevoices

Young voters have shaped this presidential primary like no other.

In Iowa, South Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and Mississippi, the youth vote has tripled since 2004. And in all other states it has reached record levels. And these young voters are breaking 2-to-1 Democratic.

Statistics show that if we can get young people to vote Democratic now, they are far more likely to vote regularly — and vote for Democrats — throughout their lives.

So by getting involved and helping to register voters, you’re not just increasing the number of voters in this election. You’re increasing the number of people who will be engaged Democratic voters for the rest of their lives.

Sign up to help bring More Voices into the Democratic primary today:

http://my.barackobama.com/morevoices

More than fifteen years ago, after I finished law school, I came back to Chicago and led a voter registration drive on the South Side.

For months, our passionate and hardworking volunteers pounded the pavement — registering folks everywhere they could, from barber shops to grocery stores to apartment building lobbies to local fairs. One particularly enthusiastic woman — who until then had never been involved in politics — made it her personal goal to register 100 voters a day, and ultimately registered 3,000 new voters.

In the end, we made a real difference in Illinois. Our team registered more than 150,000 new voters, not only impacting local elections, but helping to shift the balance in state and national races as well. Illinois went from voting Republican in 1988 to Democratic in 1992.

That lesson has informed how we’ve run this campaign. And now we have an unbelievable opportunity to apply it on a massive scale.

When new or returning voters participate in the Democratic primary, they are far more likely to come back and participate in the general election.

That’s not just good for presidential candidates; it’s good for Democrats up and down the ticket. More engaged, committed Democratic voters in the primaries means more votes this November in all fifty states — from competitive statewide races to state legislative and city council seats everywhere.

You can make a difference right now. Encourage someone to register in time to participate in the presidential race in their state. Learn more and get involved here:

Thanks for all your hard work,

Barack

P.S. — Here’s an example of how you can get involved right now.

In Pennsylvania, Independent voters must register as Democrats by March 24th
in order to vote in the primary. One supporter made calls this weekend and
reached 10 Independent voters who wanted to vote for us — four of whom needed
information about how to register.

Our team has created an online tool that provides all the information you need
to make calls from home.

Pastor Wright: This Too Shall Pass

Wednesday, March 19, 2008
by Dick Morris

Will the Gospel According to Jeremiah Wright sink the Obama candidacy? Not very likely.

Let’s start with two basic facts:

(a) Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) has already won the Democratic nomination. It’s over. Regardless of how the remaining primaries and caucuses go, including Michigan and even Florida, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) can never catch Obama in elected delegates. His current lead of 170 pledged delegates will not be overcome no matter what happens. Even if Clinton beats him by 10 points in each of these primaries, he will still lead among elected delegates by over 100. The superdelegates will not override the will of the voters unless Obama is in jail. They will not let themselves in for a civil war by overruling a black man who is beloved by the young by going over the heads of the electorate and naming the candidate that lost the primaries as the nominee. Regardless of how damaged Obama may be by the Wright tapes, it will not provide sufficient cover or cause for them to do so.

(b) Wright’s rantings are not reflective of Obama’s views on anything. Why did he stay in the church? Because he’s a black Chicago politician who comes from a mixed marriage and went to Columbia and Harvard. Suspected of not being black enough or sufficiently tied to the minority community, he needed the networking opportunities Wright afforded him in his church to get elected. If he had not risen to the top of Chicago black politics, we would never have heard of him. But obviously, he can’t say that. So what should he say?

Obama in 30 Seconds

Dear MoveOn member,

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: make a 30-second TV ad that tells the nation why Barack Obama should be our next President.

If you and your friends have writing, acting, or video editing talent—whether you’re a total amateur or a total pro—now is the time to use your creativity to help Obama win.

Today, we’re launching an ad contest called “Obama in 30 Seconds.” Anyone can make an ad about Obama between now and April 1. The public will vote on the best ads, and a panel of top artists, film professionals, and netroots heroes will pick a winner from among the finalists. (Judges include Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Naomi Wolf, Oliver Stone, John Legend, Donna Edwards, and Markos Moulitsas. The full list is below.)

We’ll air the winning Obama ad nationally, and the winner will receive a gift certificate for $20,000 in video equipment. Whether you’re definitely interested or need time to think about it, let us know—we’ll keep you in the loop as the contest proceeds. Get contest details, sign up, and watch a short video of MoveOn’s Eli Pariser describing the contest by clicking here:
Every day, political insiders and pundits tell Americans what to think about the presidential race. But now, it’s YOUR turn to take the megaphone. We want to run ads that are of the people, by the people, and for the people. So consider making an ad.

If you have acting or writing talent and have a friend with video skills, join as a team! Or, pass this email to a friend who is good at making videos.  This contest builds on the success of MoveOn’s “Bush in 30 Seconds” contest in 2004—which resulted in thousands of videos and a great winner that aired nationally.

Obama has already inspired many supporters to produce independent videos, and you can now be part of this movement. By combining all of our creative talent with the power of online video, we can help push Obama to victory. Thanks for all you do.

Hillary Clinton’s Experience: Just Words – Text of Greg Craig’s memo

From: Greg Craig, former director, Policy Planning Office, U.S. State Department
RE: Senator Clinton’s claim to be experienced in foreign policy: Just words?

DA: March 11, 2008

When your entire campaign is based upon a claim of experience, it is important that you have evidence to support that claim. Hillary Clinton’s argument that she has passed “the Commander- in-Chief test” is simply not supported by her record.

There is no doubt that Hillary Clinton played an important domestic policy role when she was First Lady. It is well known, for example, that she led the failed effort to pass universal health insurance. There is no reason to believe, however, that she was a key player in foreign policy at any time during the Clinton Administration. She did not sit in on National Security Council meetings. She did not have a security clearance. She did not attend meetings in the Situation Room. She did not manage any part of the national security bureaucracy, nor did she have her own national security staff. She did not do any heavy-lifting with foreign governments, whether they were friendly or not. She never managed a foreign policy crisis, and there is no evidence to suggest that she participated in the decision-making that occurred in connection with any such crisis. As far as the record shows, Senator Clinton never answered the phone either to make a decision on
any pressing national security issue, not at 3 AM or at any other time of day.

When asked to describe her experience, Senator Clinton has cited a handful of international incidents where she says she played a central role. But any fair-minded and objective judge of these claims, i.e., by someone not affiliated with the Clinton campaign, would conclude that Senator Clinton’s claims of foreign policy experience are exaggerated.

Northern Ireland:

Senator Clinton has said, “I helped to bring peace to Northern Ireland.” It is a gross overstatement of the facts for her to claim even partial credit for bringing peace to Northern Ireland. She did travel to Northern Ireland, it is true. First Ladies often travel to places that are a focus of U.S. foreign policy. But at no time did she play any role in the critical negotiations that ultimately produced the peace. As the Associated Press recently reported, “[S]he was not directly involved in negotiating the Good Friday peace accord.” With regard to her main claim that she helped bring women together, she did participate in a meeting with women, but, according to those who know best, she did not play a pivotal role. The person in charge of the negotiations, former Senator George Mitchell, said that “[The First Lady] was one of many people who participated in encouraging women to get involved, not the only one.”

News of Senator Clinton’s claims has raised eyebrows across the ocean. Her reference to an important meeting at the Belfast town hall was debunked. Her only appearance at the Belfast City Hall was to see Christmas lights turned on. She also attended a 50-minute meeting which, according to the Belfast Daily Telegraph’s report at the time, “[was] a little bit stilted, a little prepared at times.” Brian Feeney, an Irish author and former politician, sums it up: “The road to peace was carefully documented, and she wasn’t on it.”

Bosnia:

Senator Clinton has pointed to a March 1996 trip to Bosnia as proof that her foreign travel involved a life-risking mission into a war zone. She has described dodging sniper fire. While she did travel to Bosnia in March 1996, the visit was not a high-stakes mission to a war zone. On March 26, 1996, the New York Times reported that “Hillary Rodham Clinton charmed American troops at a U.S.O. show here, but it didn’t hurt that the singer Sheryl Crow and the comedian Sinbad were also on the stage.”

Kosovo:

Senator Clinton has said, “I negotiated open borders to let fleeing refugees into safety from Kosovo.” It is true that, as First Lady, she traveled to Macedonia and visited a Kosovar refugee camp. It is also true that she met with government officials while she was there. First Ladies frequently meet with government officials. Her claim to have “negotiated open borders to let fleeing refugees into safety from Kosovo,” however, is not true. Her trip to Macedonia took place on May 14, 1999. The borders were opened the day before, on May 13, 1999.

The negotiations that led to the opening of the borders were accomplished by the people who ordinarily conduct negotiations with foreign governments, U.S. diplomats. President Clinton’s top envoy to the Balkans, former Ambassador Robert Gelbard, said, “I cannot recall any involvement by Senator Clinton in this issue.” Ivo Daalder worked on the Clinton Administration’s National Security Council and wrote a definitive history of the Kosovo conflict. He recalls that “she had absolutely no role in the dirty work of negotiations.”

Rwanda:

Last year, former President Clinton asserted that his wife pressed him to intervene with U.S. troops to stop the Rwandan genocide. When asked about this assertion, Hillary Clinton said it was true. There is no evidence, however, to suggest that this ever happened. Even those individuals who were advocating a much more robust U.S. effort to stop the genocide did not argue for the use of U.S. troops. No one recalls hearing that Hillary Clinton had any interest in this course of action. Based on a fair and thorough review of National Security Council deliberations during those tragic months, there is no evidence to suggest that U.S. military intervention was ever discussed. Prudence Bushnell, the Assistant Secretary of State with responsibility for Africa, has recalled that there was no consideration of U.S. military intervention.

At no time prior to her campaign for the presidency did Senator Clinton ever make the claim that she supported intervening militarily to stop the Rwandan genocide. It is noteworthy that she failed to mention this anecdote, urging President Clinton to intervene militarily in Rwanda, in her memoirs. President Clinton makes no mention of such a conversation with his wife in his memoirs. And Madeline Albright, who was Ambassador to the United Nations at the time, makes no mention of any such event in her memoirs.

Hillary Clinton did visit Rwanda in March 1998 and, during that visit, her husband apologized for America’s failure to do more to prevent the genocide.

China:

Senator Clinton also points to a speech that she delivered in Beijing in 1995 as proof of her ability to answer a 3 AM crisis phone call. It is strange that Senator Clinton would base her own foreign policy experience on a speech that she gave over a decade ago, since she so frequently belittles Barack Obama’s speeches opposing the Iraq War six years ago. Let there be no doubt: she gave a good speech in Beijing, and she stood up for women’s rights. But Senator Obama’s opposition to the War in Iraq in 2002 is relevant to the question of whether he, as Commander-in-Chief, will make wise judgments about the use of military force. Senator Clinton’s speech in Beijing is not.

Senator Obama’s speech opposing the war in Iraq shows independence and courage as well as good judgment. In the speech that Senator Clinton says does not qualify him to be Commander in Chief, Obama criticized what he called “a rash war . . . a war based not on reason, but on passion, not on principle, but on politics.” In that speech, he said prophetically: “[E]ven a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences.” He predicted that a U.S. invasion of Iraq would “fan the flames of the Middle East,” and “strengthen the recruitment arm of al Qaeda.” He urged the United States first to “finish the fight with Bin Laden and al Qaeda.”

If the U.S. government had followed Barack Obama’s advice in 2002, we would have avoided one of the greatest foreign policy catastrophes in our nation’s history. Some of the most “experienced” men in national security affairs, Vice President Cheney and Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and others, led this nation into that catastrophe. That lesson should teach us something about the value of judgment over experience. Longevity in Washington, D.C. does not guarantee either wisdom of judgment.

Conclusion:

The Clinton campaign’s argument is nothing more than mere assertion, dramatized in a scary television commercial with a telephone ringing in the middle of the night. There is no support for or substance in the claim that Senator Clinton has passed “the Commander-in-Chief test.” That claim, as the TV ad, consists of nothing more than making the assertion, repeating it frequently to the voters and hoping that they will believe it.

On the most critical foreign policy judgment of our generation, the War in Iraq, Senator Clinton voted in support of a resolution entitled “The Joint Resolution to Authorize the Use of U.S. Military Force Against Iraq.” As she cast that vote, she said: “This is probably the hardest decision I have ever had to make — any vote that may lead to war should be hard — but I cast it with conviction.” In this campaign, Senator Clinton has argued, remarkably, that she wasn’t actually voting for war, she was voting for diplomacy. That claim is no more credible than her other claims of foreign policy experience. The real tragedy is that we are still living with the terrible consequences of her misjudgment. The Bush Administration continues to cite that resolution as its authorization, like a blank check, to fight on with no end in sight.

Barack Obama has a very simple case. On the most important commander in chief test of our generation, he got it right, and Senator Clinton got it wrong. In truth, Senator Obama has much more foreign policy experience than either Bill Clinton or Ronald Reagan had when they were elected. Senator Obama has worked to confront 21st century challenges like proliferation and genocide on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He possesses the personal attributes of a great leader, an even temperament, an open-minded approach to even the most challenging problems, a willingness to listen to all views, clarity of vision, the ability to inspire, conviction and courage.

And Barack Obama does not use false charges and exaggerated claims to play politics with national security.

Enthusiasm Tilts Toward Obama in Pa.

By MICHAEL RUBINKAM
Associated Press Writer

STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) — For Edwin David, who served with the famed World War II unit of black fighters known as the Tuskegee Airmen, Sen. Barack Obama is an easy choice.

“Just let me live till voting time in November,” said David, 83, living in retirement in the Pocono Mountains. “In my lifetime, we just might get to see the first African-American president of the United States!”

Fresh from victories in the big states of Ohio and Texas, and with polls having shown her holding the lead here, even if it has dwindled, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton starts her campaign in Pennsylvania as the favorite to win the April 22 primary.

But in random interviews last week with dozens of voters in swing districts across the state, much of the Democratic voter enthusiasm seemed to tilt toward Obama, not only because he is a fresh face, but because they believe he has the best shot at beating Republican nominee-in-waiting John McCain, whom they call old and out-of-touch.

But unlike David, many said it wasn’t an easy decision.

Obama for America

Annah –

I want to add some more news to David’s note about the state of
the race.

As you know, we’ve won 27 of 41 contests and have maintained our
commanding lead among pledged delegates.

But today I want to share another staggering number: supporters
like you donated more than $55 million to this campaign in the month of February.

That’s a humbling achievement, and I am very grateful for your support.

No campaign has ever raised this much in a single month in the history
of presidential primaries. But more important than the total is how we did
it — more than 90% of donations were $100 or less, and more than 385,000
new donors in February pushed us past our goal of more than 1,000,000 people
owning a piece of this campaign.

From the beginning, this campaign has always been funded by a movement
of grassroots supporters giving whatever they can afford. And unlike Senator
Clinton and Senator McCain, we have never taken money from lobbyists or PACs.

Senator Clinton has decided to use her resources to wage a negative,
throw-everything-including-the-kitchen-sink campaign. John McCain has clinched
the Republican nomination and is attacking us daily. But I will continue
to vigorously defend my record and make the case for change that will improve
the lives of all Americans.

I need your help to continue this battle on two separate fronts.
Now is the time to step up and own a piece of this campaign.

Odundo —

Our projections show the most likely outcome of yesterday’s elections
will be that Hillary Clinton gained 187 delegates, and we gained 183.

That’s a net gain of 4 delegates out of more than 370 delegates
available from all the states that voted.

For comparison, that’s less than half our net gain of 9 delegates
from the District of Columbia alone. It’s also less than our net gain of
8 from Nebraska, or 12 from Washington State. And it’s considerably less
than our net gain of 33 delegates from Georgia.

The task for the Clinton campaign yesterday was clear. In order
to have a plausible path to the nomination, they needed to score huge delegate
victories and cut into our lead.

They failed.

It’s clear, though, that Senator Clinton wants to continue an increasingly
desperate, increasingly negative — and increasingly expensive — campaign
to tear us down.

That’s her decision. But it’s not stopping John McCain, who clinched
the Republican nomination last night, from going on the offensive. He’s already
made news attacking Barack, and that will only become more frequent in the
coming days.

Right now, it’s essential for every single supporter of Barack Obama
to step up and help fight this two-front battle. In the face of attacks from
Hillary Clinton and John McCain, we need to be ready to take them on.

The chatter among pundits may have gotten better for the Clinton
campaign after last night, but by failing to cut into our lead, the math
— and their chances of winning — got considerably worse.

Today, we still have a lead of more than 150 delegates, and there
are only 611 pledged delegates left to win in the upcoming contests.

By a week from today, we will have competed in Wyoming and Mississippi.
Two more states and 45 more delegates will be off the table.

But if Senator Clinton wants to continue this, let’s show that we’re
ready.

This nomination process is an opportunity to decide what our party
needs to stand for in this election.

We can either take on John McCain with a candidate who’s already
united Republicans and Independents against us, or we can do it with a campaign
that’s united Americans from all parties around a common purpose.

We can debate John McCain about who can clean up Washington by nominating
a candidate who’s taken more money from lobbyists than he has, or we can
do it with a campaign that hasn’t taken a dime of their money because we’ve
been funded by you.

We can present the American people with a candidate who stood shoulder-to-shoulder
with McCain on the worst foreign policy disaster of our generation, and agrees
with him that George Bush deserves the benefit of the doubt on Iran, or we
can nominate someone who opposed the war in Iraq from the beginning and will
not support a march to war with Iran.

John McCain may have a long history of straight talk and independent
thinking, but he has made the decision in this campaign to offer four more
years of the very same policies that have failed us for the last eight.

We need a Democratic candidate who will present the starkest contrast
to those failed policies of the past.

And that candidate is Barack Obama.

We may not know the final outcome of today’s voting until morning,
but the results so far make one thing clear.

When the dust settles from today’s contests, we will maintain our
substantial lead in delegates. And thanks to millions of people standing for
change, we will keep adding delegates and capture the Democratic nomination.

We knew from the day we began this journey that the road would be
long. And we knew what we were up against.

We knew that the closer we got to the change we seek, the more we’d
see of the politics we’re trying to end — the attacks and distortions that
try to distract us from the issues that matter to people’s lives, the stunts
and the tactics that ask us to fear instead of hope.

But this time — this year — it will not work. The challenges
are too great. The stakes are too high.

Americans need real change.

In the coming weeks, we will begin a great debate about the future
of this country with a man who has served it bravely and loves it dearly.
And we will offer two very different visions of the America we see in the
twenty-first century.

John McCain has already dismissed our call for change as eloquent
but empty.

But he should know that it’s a call that did not begin with my words.
It’s the resounding call from every corner of this country, from first-time
voters and lifelong cynics, from Democrats and Republicans alike.

And together you and I are going to grow this movement to deliver
that change in November.

Thank you,

Barack

Annah —

I wanted to get in touch with you one last time before tomorrow’s primary.

We’ve had a long journey together in Ohio. For more than a year, you have been dedicated to the idea that when ordinary people come together, we can do extraordinary things.

Our team put together a special video of our grassroots movement in Ohio — check it out, and share it with anyone who might still be undecided:

Grassroots Movement in Ohio

http://oh.barackobama.com/LookupOH

It’s been inspiring to see the turnout at these events, and it strengthens my faith that the American people — not just here in Ohio, but across the country — are ready to stop settling for what the cynics tell us we must accept and start reaching for what’s possible.

Tomorrow’s our chance to make history.

But the election is going to be close, and it’s vitally important that you vote and bring your family and friends to vote with you.

Find your polling location and vote tomorrow:

http://oh.barackobama.com/LookupOH

When Michelle and I talked about my running for president, one of the core goals we both had for this campaign was to leave the political process better off than we found it.

That’s just what you’ve done in Ohio. You have shaken the political status quo and built a grassroots movement that is sweeping this country.

If you get out and vote tomorrow — and bring others to vote too — our movement will continue to grow. The world will know that Ohio stood up for a different kind of politics. And real change will be within reach.

Find your polling location:

Let’s bring real change tomorrow.

Barack

P.S. — Here are a few details and rules that will help make the voting process run smoothly. Make sure to share these with your friends:

  • Polls are open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you are in line at 7:30 p.m. you have the right to vote.
  • All registered voters can vote in the Democratic Primary, even Republicans and Independents.
  • When you vote, bring ID: Ohio driver’s license or state-issued ID, or any one of the following with your name and current address — utility bill (including cell phone bills), bank statement, paycheck, government check, or government document.
  • If you have any problems or questions, call our voter hotline at 1-866-675-2008 and press 4.

The question of experience!

Any time there is any kind of election, the question of experience emerges.I recently listened to a very hot and charged discussion by the political pundits on whether or not Obama has what it takes to be the president.

This reminds me of comments made by some pastors from Andrews that we had at our church this last Saturday. They noted that back home during camp meetings the conference would send unmarried people to go and speak on the subject of marriage. One pastor made us laugh to tears when he observed that he always gave them something else.

I am sure that you know of places that you will not be hired unless you have experience. May be you have been a victim at one time or the other.

Which leads me to this question. Is experience necessary? What will you advise on the following:

1. Would you rather chose as the president a personwith experience or give someone else a chance?

2. If your church wanted to do a seminar on family life, whom would your choice be?

3. If you fell ill and went to the hospital where there is a new Doctor and one with experience whom will you chose?

Where can one draw the line?

Just wondering.

Blessings.

The U.S. presidential front runners!

My attention has been drawn on the 2008 American front runners. As the the race to the nomination nears the end, there is talk of getting nasty and very negative on the front runners. There is an intensive and exhaustive search of all available records to see if
at any time, they did or said something that can be counted against them. Wow! Will they find something? Only time will tell.

I know of one, the Prophet Daniel, whose both public and private records were searched but nothing was found to accuse him other than doing the right things for his Lord. Praise God!

I am glad that I will never seek the public office. That said, privately and deep in my heart, I have found myself wondering, if all my public and private records were scrutinized, will I be able to stand?

Will you?

As I prepare to leave for work this morning, I have but this resolve: While I may have done or said things that hurt someone and, therefore, will most definitely disqualify me in many ways, I have purposed in my heart from now on to live in such a way that all those
who come across me will say ” This Pr Birai used to be like this and this—–but of late, he has totally changed.” Oh how I truly yearn for that! Lord, please help me to achieve this goal before I go the way of my forefathers! Is that your desire too?

Just a thought.

Dear Annah,

I wanted to respond to Paul’s
message about becoming a Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Captain in Ohio.

We have seen record turnout
in the contests held so far — folks are coming out and making their voices
heard like never before across the country — and it’s thanks to supporters
like you.

We’ve won 23 of 34 contests,
including the last 8 in a row. But this campaign is far from over, and we
can’t take anything for granted.

We need every vote and every
delegate we can get in Ohio on March 4th. And to do that, we need to get
organized on a local level.

Sign up to lead the effort
to Get Out The Vote in your community — become an Ohio GOTV Captain today:

http://my.barackobama.com/OHgotvcaptain

The Ohio primary is only a
couple weeks away. We have this window of opportunity, and we need you now
to step up and get involved.

Precinct captains have a special
place in my heart. My dad, an avid Democrat, was a precinct captain in Chicago.
He was a blue collar city worker, worked to put two kids through college,
and was stricken with multiple sclerosis in the prime of his life.

My dad got up every day, driven
to create a better life for our family and our community. And one way he
worked for change was by serving as a precinct captain. It’s such an important
job, and I hope we can count on you to sign on and help out.

Read the details in Paul’s
message below, and sign up to be a part of our campaign in Ohio.

Thank you for everything you’re
are doing,

Michelle

Dear Odundo,

Become an Obama GOTV Captain

You can play a major role in our Ohio campaign for Barack.

Signing up as an Obama GOTV
Captain means taking the next step and making a personal commitment to the
campaign. But along with that commitment comes the opportunity to be a major
part of our strategy in Ohio.

Here’s what an Obama GOTV Captain
needs to do:

  • Work with local Obama Staff
to lead Get Out The Vote efforts in your community
  • Organize canvasses in your
area and help make phone calls to reach potential supporters
  • Recruit other Obama supporters
to help turn out voters for Barack

You don’t need any
previous experience to be a GOTV Captain.

You just need to support Barack and be ready to turn your energy and enthusiasm
into action.

It requires some responsibility,
but don’t worry — we’ll be here with all of the materials, training, and
support you’ll need every step of the way.

supporters are knocking on doors, making phone calls, and spreading the word
about our movement for change in their communities.

Barack won the most states and the most delegates on Super Tuesday,
and he has won every contest since. But the race for the Democratic nomination
is still extremely close.

Ohio is one of the largest and closest of the remaining states, and
we need to win every vote and every delegate we can.

Early voting is a great way to show your family, friends, and neighbors
that you’ve made up your mind and you’re supporting Barack Obama.

And, if you plan to volunteer for the campaign on Election Day, early
voting is a great way to make sure you are free all day long.
