I am a staunch supporter of Raila Odinga and for that reason i have taken keen interest in all matters that affect him.In my opinion the recent accord, though best alternative under the circumstances is disadvantaged on the part of Raila since he can be removed from office by a simple majority.

With the scramble for cabinet positions it is apparent that discontent will show its ugly face in ODM hence the genesis of problems for Raila.

How will Raila deal with dissentents in a manner that doesnt affect his tenure in office.

What is all this nonsense Francis Muthaura is trying to say? This mt kenya mafia people have not even learn the lesson. Now they are already trying to diminish the prime minister position to just a mere mininstry. I can smell danger because this is not going to go well with ODM. This was supposed to be a real power sharing deal. What Francis Muthaura is outlining is not a power sharing deal. Yes indeed the President is still the head of state and government, but the prime minister has be ranked next to the president for there to be any sort of power sharing deal. It needs to be President, Prime Minister, Vice President and then deputy prime ministers. If this Mt kenya mafia again start taking over, this whole coalition government is doomed.

First and far most, the days where Mutua and Muthaura used to come up with policy statements from state house are gone. Any mojar policy statements like the one Muthaura just announced, must go through the prime minister’s office for consent before they are made public. Both the president and prime minister have to appear to speak with one voice. From the look of things, ODM was caught unaware of today’s annnouncement. This is going to be a very delicate balance of power and if the two (president and Prime minister) do not check with each other, this coalition is going to fail.

The prime minister is responsible for supervising the government and in this role he should be leader of government business. How can the prime minister surpervise ministries when he has a ministry to run. If anything there should be a ministry in the office of the prime minister just like we have ministries in the office of the president. And this minstry should be ministry of cordination and development. How can the vice president be ranked higher than the Prime minister and yet the prime minister is supposed to supervise him in his capacity as minister for home affairs?

Instead of Mt kenya mafia trying to find common ground to make this power sharing deal work, they have already started exploring for loopholes in the deal that was signed to their advantage. The same way they did with the MOU. If this continues, Kenya will be back to January 1st 2008 by the end of the week. Raila is not going to be relagated to a powerless prime minister position. This has been his stand from the get go. There has to be a real power sharing deal. Which means the president sharing power with the prime minister. If the vice president does not share any power with the president how can he be ranked higher than someone who actually has some executive power?

Please mt kenya mafia. Save us from further distruction. We are just beggining to heal. We are just about to reach caanan, dont return us back to Egypt. Now everyone can see why Raila refused to negotiate with Kibaki directly. KIBaki is not a man of his word.
