Serious Request Kenya 2012 is kicking off right now, and we’re video-streaming the event round the clock, so come on in now and watch the action.
Serious Request is a DJ event that runs every year from the 19th till the 24th of December, and this is the fifth year in a row that our flagship station, Ghetto Radio Nairobi, is staging the event.
Three DJs, locked in a glass studio in the centre of Nairobi, broadcast round the clock for 6 days, without food, the idea being to raise awareness and stimulate discussions about a chosen social issue.

Kenyans will be going to the polls once again on the 4th of March 2013, hence our theme.

There’ll be lots of music, of course – live performances and DJ requests – but there will also be a range of election-related activities going on every day, such as the issuing of ID cards, a voter registration program and workshops about democracy for young voters.
