The small, but busy Rodi-Kopany town, which is located at the junction of Ndhiwa-Rongo and Homay road on Tuesday morning witnessed a peaceful demonstration staged by the ODM youth against the area Senate representative Gerald Otieno Kajwang’ over his remarks against the Nairobi governor Dr Evans Odhiambo Kidero.
The placard waving youth numbering about 500 told the senator to leave Dr kideroalone and concentrating his mandate of serving the people ofHoma-Bay County. Kajwang’ had warnedthe governor that he would be impeached for expressing his opion that the party shod support Okello in hid bid for the party nominatin inNyando and also the embattled migori governor Okoth Obado if the Supreme Court order for the by-elections to be held in the two places after the hearing and judgement of appeal cases currently lodged before the court.
The you demanded that Otieno Kajwang’ should account for development projects he had initiated for the mutual benefits of the electorate in Mbita constituency, which he had represented for close to 19years ever since 1992 when he first won the elections on a Ford-Kenya ticket.
The youth claimed in one of the placards Kajwang’ had left the Mbita people unceremoniously after failing to deliver the goods in two decades. He had actually absconded and took refugee in the Homa-Bay county senate seat knowingly that the had let down the Mbita people would not get any votes there.
The youth sung and an danced on the road and briefly blocked the road stopping motorists before giving way.about Kidero’s attractive record of helping the poor by way of donating his hard earned money to wards the socio-economic projects in various locations in Luo-Nyanza and elsewhere.
If there is anyone who should be impeached that man should be Otieno Kajwang’ who is only credited for his lyric of “Bado Kuna Mapambano” which has no valued added in as far as the war r against abject poverty in the region is concern. “This time around this kind of political deceits in Luo-Nyanza must come to an end if the community is to realize its ambition of voting Raila Odinga as the next President of Kenya in 2017.
One of the youths who requested not to be named alleged that it was the likes of Otieno Kajwang who caused the mass exodus of most of the former Pentagon members of ODM. They forced the likes of William Ruto, Musalia Muadavadi, Charity Ngilu and others out of ODM.
The party lost the March 4, 2013 election to the jubilee due to the laxity and poor performance by those who surrounded Raila Odinga as his close kitchen cabinet and advisers.
The demonstrating youth alleged that the Senator is known for bad-mouthing other politicians, especially those politicians from out side the Luo community. He should double check his loose tank.
Instead of trying to gaggle Dr Kidero,Kajwang and his friends should put their act together and work out the election winning strategies for 2017, which should be different from his usual singing lyrics.
