Subject: Traffic jams in Nairobi-People sleeping on jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The traffic situation in nairobi is quickly moving into the realm of a crisis. Can we have a delegation pay a visit to the minister? I have some concrete proposals that will help. For example, traffic lights cannot continue to be run jua kali. They must be real time and open and close according to traffic density and flow in the various lanes. There’s a mathematical and accurate formula for that and must be applied because while flow is dense in one lane at 5pm it could very well be light in the opposite lane.

I shudder to imagine the loss in fuel shillings and man hours if we were to compute 300,000 cars and trucks sitting in fuel over a 4 hour period!

The leadership in this country must awake from their slumber, with ideas and energy

The traffic jams in Nairobi are becoming something that is being accepted as normal while this should not be the case. There are people tasked with managing our transport. There is a whole Ministry dealing with transport, there is the a whole police unit dealing with traffic.

There are people sleeping in their jobs big time, this must not be acceptable. For one to spend over 4 hours to get to destination within Nairobi is a big joke!!

If John Michuki managed to create order in our roads when he was Minister for Transport, and we are back to such disorder with abandon, it can only mean the people at the same Ministry, led by the Minister are sleeping on the job, it means it can be done but because no one is asking with seriousness to see order on our roads, those tasked, beginning with the Police Commissioner down the line to the Traffic Commandant are just sleelping on the job.

Kenyans need to begin asking why it was possible then and not now, why is matatu madness back on our roads? Why are the rules not being followed?

It can only mean that our police bosses are asleep, and it took Michuki to momentarily wake them up and when he left, they went back into their deep slumber again.
