Mr. Kibaki…No Amnesty for Kimunya!

Dear Kenyans and friends of Kenya,

First, action call: Please join us on 8-7-2008 at 10am, Garden Square KICC and thereafter in street protest as we deliver dismissal letter to Kimunya from the citizens of Kenya.

If the events of the paid advertisers’ rally aired on Citizen television this past weekend are anything to go by, the grand mess by the grand government on the Grand Regency is only getting grander!

The Kipipiri constituency rally where Uhuru Kenyatta was taking stock of the members of parliament from Central Province who are with Kimunya cannot be anything else than political strategy to dig an escape tunnel in the mountain of Grand Regency saga by making the fight a “PNU vs ODM affair” or “our people vs them” fight.

As matter of fact, Kenyans saw and heard Kimunya turn to old politics of whipping up tribal emotions that: “this is a plan to finish our people” that preceded the December 31st 2007 events. This isn’t the talks we would expect from our politicians in post Accord. We cannot talk of national reconciliation and at the same time play up tribal sentiments. This is despotic and opportunistic politics. Surely, Kimunya did not eat the grand loot from De la Rue, Mobitelea, Safaricom IPO and Grand Regency with the over 4 million Kenyans from his tribe or region. How can he use the public money he looted to pay up adverts on television to fan up ethnic disquiet?

On the question of his accomplices, what Kenyans want from Kimunya is to show us evidence of the official communiqués Raila, Orengo and the AG he refers to. For the time being we are going to concentrate on him our energy for exorcism of corruption in our country.

As we carryouy this exercise, Kenyans must guard themselves against politicians who run to their tribes or region when things are thick at national level to seek a political base to fight back on. I am positive that people from his tribe or region did not benefit from Kimunya’s scandals and therefore he should stop using them for trade. In parliament, Kimunya told us that he was calm in the midst of the grand storm because of his wife, daughter and friends ( read powerful individuals) and that must suffice as evidence that they are the beneficiaries of his grand scam.

Cognizant of the above, I am urgently appealing to all patriotic Kenyans to be vigilant against political opportunists who are turning the fight against corruption into an Ethnic war.

In a related matter, I wish not to debate the conduct of the Vice President Kalonzo simply because as you are aware that is a man who follows the wind. Kimunya has given him a familiar ground of defending the corrupt and that is what he spent doing over 20 years with former President Moi. We will remind him of today in 2012 when he will be invoking his christianity to woe votes for presidency.

Lastly, on Uhuru Kenyatta, we Kenyans must tell him, that he should prepared to be shaved too. When we are done with Kimunya we are going to demand implementation of the Ndung’u Land Report so that Uhuru Kenyatta and family can give us back our land to resettle the IDPs, squarters and landless. On that note, we put notice to all corrupt individuals – even the ones helping us to fight Kimunya, like Cyrus Jirongo.

I must not close this letter without making this demand – that all laws that support culture of impunity such as section 25A of Economic crime Act must be repealed; that all money swindled in corrupt deals should be recovered; and that President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila must show leadership by zero tolerance to corruption by sacking Kimunya by the close of the date 7/7!
