Amos Kimunya, the architect of Grand Regency Hotel saga has resigned.
This comes in the wake of his having raised ethnic emotions to support his thieving ways at the Treasury.
As much as I want to congratulate him for having stepped aside, we must now question the role of the police in the fight against graft. It is interesting to note that the Director-General of NSIS, Major Gichangi played an active role in the Grand Regency rip-off. It is also interesting to note that the late Kanyotu, having been the Director-General of the same body, also actively played a leading role in the Goldenberg Saga.
Are our police trained to forestall such crime? Or are they trained to be the masterminds of such crimes?
Kenyans must now ask the question; why do we have the police force? It is surprising that the Commissioner of Police has kept a studious silence on the many white color rip off under the presidency of Hon Mwai Kibaki.
Kenyans must ask the question; why do we have the police force? Are they only meant to arrest petty thieves? While the people who are economically raping Kenya sit and dine with the police?
Time has come for heads to role. We cannot have a saga of such magnitude unfolding, and the police, the CID and the NSIS keep off as if that is not their responsibility.
We would like to see Kimunya taken to court and charged with abuse of office. In the same vain, we are keenly following the case of Chris Kirubi and others as they unfold in the courts.
It is instructive to note that Kenatco came down under the watch of some of these characters, and yet, no one has ever been charged with economically raping Kenatco!
In the whole, can heads role in the police force so that we have a police force that pays allegiance to the law, and not to ones station in life.
