KENYA: DISTURBING ISSUES

From: Jonah Ogaro

(i) Raila and Shebesh are latest Kenyan MPs to go to Uganda to campaign for Museveni. Isn’t this meddling with Uganda. We should ne non-partisan and let Ugandans choose their leaders. It appears that Raila and Museveni are now friends. WE should in turn not be surprised in 2012 when Museveni comes to Kenya in 2012 to campaign for some people.

(ii)ODM top leadership is supporting its two members who appear in the Ocampo list. Yet peple expected ODM to change Kenya for the better. This is a dream. We should look elsewhere for help BUT not in ODM or PNU. Who will stand with those who were directly affected by PEV in form of rapes, displacement, deaths etc. Apparently most MPs are ready to stand by their own i.e. the five (excluding the KASS FM journalist) BUT stand by the over 40 million Kenyans.

(iii) Supporters of Uhuru protest against his inclusion in the list. WE expect the same from supporters of other suspects. The so called demonstrators are said to be ‘IDPs’ and were led by people like Sonko and Waititu. Could it be that they have been paid to demonstrate? The beauty is that, the demonstrators will not accompany them to the Hague for grilling.

(iv) Waititu was to appear in Court for incitement. But it is reported this did not happen because a telephone call to a top cop stopped his arraignment in Court. The reason is that if he could been arraigned in Court, Waititu could have been forced to step aside as Assistant Minister as per the requirements of the new constitution. Isn’t this impunity?

To all Kenyans, we are all alone. None of these current MPs have the interests of the over 40 million Kenyans at heart. Let us do the best thing- send them home in

Whereas it is said that there are no permanent enemies in politics, I was surprised and shuddered in fear to see Raila Amollo Odinga accompanying president Museveni aboad an open landrover in a campaign trail in Uganda. First, Museveni fraudulently and defiantly against the wishes of Ugandans changed the Ugandan constitution, literally granting him the life presidency. That shows he is not a democrat and does not believe in democracy at all. Believe me, he will swear himself in as the president even if his able opponent Kiza Bessigye beats him. Fishermen, majority being Luos are harrashed and tortured daily at Migingo Island by Museveni forces and attempts to demarcate the Island boundary to bring long lasting peace has been thwarted by Museveni. Museveni’s forces are also reported to have invaded kisumu at the heart of post election violence and killed several Luo civilians, besides belittling our people as mad wajaruos. He also went a head and congratulated kibaki after the bungled elections of 2007 to the utter dismay of the international community who termed the elections a sham. His action only fuelled the violence and several lives were lost as a result. Summarily, I do not see the virtue of a good friend in Museveni and cannot comprehend what dragged Raila into campaigning for him, leave a lone paying him a visit. Could Raila have dropped his crusade for democratic ideals so as to be seen in that undemocratic company? Did he ever imagine he was meddling in the affairs of the Ugandans and have already earned hate from majority ugandans in the opposition? Did he see putting majority of ugandans who are brothers to the Luos at risk of oppresion should the opposition win? What has suddenly made these two former foes friends? Blunder after blunder seem to be Raila’s constant companion of late and may deny him a lot of votes should he subject himself to future elections. As someone who has always supported his cause I call upon his handlers to be advisinging him appropriately.

True, Raila has no business overtly campaigning for a presidential candidate in a neighbouring country. To make matters worse this presidential candidate not only just finished a ‘kisanja’ termbut wants another ‘kisanja’
