A friend of mine told me a very sad story as it was told to him by his friend! It was a story about his brother, that had a painful beginning, then moved to a praise the Lord story before it became a terminal story.
His brother became sick; the kind of sickness that almost every one knew that it was a matter of time before he passed away. But prayer was offered on his behalf. He himself promised the Lord that in case he came out of the hospital, he would change his priorities, forsake his evil ways and serve the Lord for ever! Does it sound familiar!
Like always, the Lord heard the cry of His children and sure answered them. He was cured to the surprise of even the doctors!
On coming out of the hospital, he lived to his promise by starting to go to church. The family was not only thankful but truly excited. Lest did they know that this was short lived. Hardly three months after the miraculous healing, the guy went back to his past life of sin. He started drinking and forgot all about God and the church. He did not last long for shortly afterward, he passed away. If only he would have lived to his promises!
Many of us have been to this game over and over again. Many are the promises we have given to the Lord of the universe, “Lord, if you help me with this problem……then I will sure serve you for ever.” But as soon as that problem is solved, we disappear until another problem strikes.
Ever promised the Lord! What happened to your promise? Tonight, I have asked God not only to forgive me but also help me keep all my promises towards Him! How about you my dear friend?
Just a thought!
