Kenyans – we do not need to be spectators! LETS get involved. This is the time to fire leaders who have not delivered on their promises. The scorecard: corruption free, development record, moral values and result oriented. We need leaders who inspire, empower, sensitive, articulate value with vision and are innovative. We need team builders who can bring Kenyans together. Let elect leaders that can act with reason and purpose. They should be Planners, analysts and strategists. Leadership is not necessarily being democratic but have the respect to the tenets of democracy and rule of law. In 2012, lets be weary and admonish one another to vote in leaders who can simply add value and sacrifice their personal interest for the sake of the generations to come. I see that in you, and i know we can overcome the hurdles because we believe in out abilities to deliver and make a little more space for another generation. Today’s leaders are ego centred, and do not pass a moral pass-mark to be in those positions.
Their policies have failed and even they extended their failing attitude to implementing what is in black and white. The have turned Parliament to an open market where MPs are living on handouts from their masters. Decency has been thrown out of the window and shamelessly replaced by political thuggery. Consider the child who watched the mother die during the PEV. Those victims whose bodies were mutilated, women and girls who were raped by gangs of disease infected men. Families that watched their breadwinners hacked to death. While these atrocities were happening, a group of political elites and masterminds were sipping wines in 5-star hotels grappling with power. Why power? It meant wealth, safeguarding personal interests over national issues. And today – as we wait for justice, all major institutions to deliver that justice are subjected to corruption and political jittery. When we asked for re-elections, they gave us a power sharing deal not for the people of Kenya but for the political class!
Who can deliver the ordinary common citizen from such greed? W e keep asking these questions time and again. Political leaders has penetrated and affected all sectors of our lives – thus the economy has been affected. Our social lives have drastically been reduced. We do not access essential services with the freedom we have. All these, just because of a few individual who have turned political leadership as a dynasty that will pass from their relative to another.
Currently, we are witnessing revolutions in Arab world. Citizens of these countries are demanding independence. They never enjoyed their rights to freedom of speech. Their government didn’t encourage democracy. Therefore, they are few up with autocracy that has led to corruption in high offices. They demand independence. While they are want to be independent and be involved in top decision making process, other third world countries like Kenya are grappling daily with political chess-games by their leaders who have stood on the way to stop the nation progressing forward.
The time is now for true revolution. In 2007/08, Kenya failed in her first attempt to a revolt. Revolutions will means blood shed. And when blood is shed, someone has to pay for it. One cannot shed blood and live a free life. We should honour those that died without cause. Not only the victims of PEV, but also men and women who died questioning bad governance, and corruption. The cases are yet to be concluded. We must set these histories straight for the next generation to live a free world. The truth shall set our country free.
Its all about good governance. Therefore, it time to act. I know millions of Kenyans want to act. I know that someone is fed up and want to change. Good governance means reliability, predictability, respect to rule of law and accountability. Current leadership has failed! Good governance will create functional markets, encourage private sector development, strengthen the operation of the civil society and as well increase concern and welfare of the communities and individual citizens. The lifestyle of Kenya is faster on a downward trend as quality of life has been compromised. Good governance will therefore ensure that there is sustained quality of citizens and be a determinant factor of the sustainability and strength of democracy in Kenya.
Its time to act
