There has always been a need to prayerfully study and re-study the sure word of God, to clearly understand it, to internalize it, and to share it with others with an attitude of willingness to be collected of any misunderstandings! Why so?
In Mathew 5:19, the man of Galilee warned, “Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
1 Peter 3:15-16 cautions, ” Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand which ignorant and unstable people distort as they do the other Scriptures to their own destruction.”
James 2:10 tells us that, “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.”
James 3:1 states, “Not many of you should presume to be teachers my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”
If you have taken time to search the Scriptures at the feet of the cross, then as you hear people preach the word, you are able to tell whether or not their teachings is in line with the word of God! Here, and at all times,as we hear the word of God preached, our approach should be like that of the Bereans. Speaking about them, the apostle Paul wrote, “Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” Acts 17:11
One of the errors that I have heard so often is the idea of “little sins.” In the minds of some people, the sins that are so bad are such sins as stealing, killing, committing adultery and others! The proponents of such teaching will tell you that whoever commits the so called “big sins,” must be punished, and punished hard!
But my understanding of sin, tells me that sin is sin as far as God is concerned. As a matter of fact, the so called “little sins,” may as well be what keeps many from having a good relationship with their Lord and fellow human beings. They include and not limited to : Gossip, jealousy, hatred, and evil thoughts. When the man of Galilee was on earth , He taught and expounded on these and many others as found in Mathew chapter 5.
You and I need to pay more attention to the so called “little sins!” I am willing to do just that. How about you my friend!
