Friends,
Eldoret Town is going to be the Turning Point as we host the 5th Monthly Nationwide Clean-up Campaign at Huruma Estate on the 21st May 2011 as from 7.00am. We will then move to Sosiani Dam to help plant trees as from 11.30am.
We are very encouraged by the enthusiasm with which the Clean-up Campaign has been received in Eldoret. We are very appreciative with the cooperation we are receiving from the Town Clerk Municipal Council of Eldoret, the County Clerk County Council of Wareng, Chairman Middle Sosiani Water Resources Users Association Mr. Paul Lelei, Chairman Eldoret Green Town Initiative Mr. Mohamed Ali, Secretary General Centre for Community Dialogue and Development Mr. David Busienei, the Executive Officer Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr, Obed Omwenoh, the local corporates and the people of Eldoret Town.
We have made several invitations to our leaders and as at today, we can confirm the attendance of the Town Clerks from Nairobi and Mombasa. You may want to remember that the Monthly Nationwide Clean-up Campaign was first launched in Nairobi along Kibera Drive in a function that had Live-Links with Citizen TV for the One O’clock News in January 2011.
It was then officially launched in Mombasa at Mackinon Market in February by the Rt Hon Prime Minister in a function presided over for him by Hon Amazon Kingi- the Minister for Fisheries Development.
Eldoret Town is our 3rd Town in our Calender of events and it is surely going to make very huge impact on the Campaign.
We have invited the Hon Prof George Saitoti- the Minister for Provincial Administration and Internal Security to be our Chief Guest due to the role and support we have continued to receive from the Provincial Administration in this campaign.
We have invited the 3 local MPs from Eldoret East, South and North, Prof PLO Lumumba and the Permanent Secretaries in the Ministries of Environment, Local Government and Forestry. We are inviting all Kenyans of goodwill to join us then and make the Eldoret Campaign the Turning Point in the Monthly Nationwide Clean-up Campaign.
We are appealing for support, partnership and participation of all Kenyans in the Monthly Nationwide Clean-up Campaign across all the Country.
If it is to be, it is up to me. A Clean Kenya Starts With me. A Peaceful Kenya is my Responsibility.
Peace and blessings,
Odhiambo T Oketch
