The Situation Report By Leo Odera Omolo In Kisumu.

This city of one million people , which is located in the eastern shore of Nyanza gulf in the tip of Lake Victoria is today wash with what appeared to be an Obamania mood and phenomenon as huge and unusual crowd gathered in key part of the town, while other glued themselves next to the television sets in hotels, stadium and nearly al the pubs and all eating houses.

The traders are in for a booming business between today and tomorrow as the US election results is eagerly being awaited here.

The Obama family members have donated several bulls, he goats and rams to be slaughtered during the festive moods. Some of the animals have bneen donated by well wishers and supporters.

Salim Obama, the Senator’s step brother said all family members have gathered at home from all over the world for prayers and vigil, and all those wished to join the family in what looked like an inevitable election victory of Sen Obama jnr, are welcome to the home.

The Bishops have appealed to the population to maintain peace and tranquility law and order in the next forty eight hours as they wait for the “Big News” from Washington .

At the same time the police in Nyanza Province remained alert and vigilant ready to cope up with any eventuality after the word went round that some disgruntled youth had hatched a secret plan to cause mayhem in an unlikely event of Barrack Obama losing the US election to his arch-rival Sen. John Mcain.

For security and their town safety, most foreigners, particularly the whites residents of this lakeside city have been advised to remain indoor and to keep away from crowded streets for the next twenty four hours.

The region is prone for politically motivated, similar to the post-election violence that engulfed this City. It witnessed massive looting and destruction of property wlorth billions of shillings by the enraged youths who were protesting against the suspected rigging of presidential election results. It provoked sharp counter-measures by police, resulting in death of close 69 people who died as the result of police gunfire.

Fears persist that of political thugs could take the advantage of the US election mix up and cause another round of mayhem due to the fact that the populations here support Sen Barrack Obama on man-to-man basis.

At the same time a large number of Anglican and bishops and Archbishops from all the religious denomination in the region have converged at the home of Mama Sarah Obama, the surviving 86 year old step grandmother of Sen Obama to conduct the all night vigil and prayers at the tiny village in Alego Kogelo, where the US Democratic Party presidential candidate’s father the late Barrack Obama snr is buried.

The Bishops are lead by the head of the Powers of Jesus Round the World Bishop Dr. Washington Ogonyo Ngede and Archbishop Silas Owiti of ther Healing Salvation Church . The group consist of bishops, priests and clergymen and women from all the denominations of Christian churches in the region.

Although the US presidential hopeful Barrack Obama was born of a Kenyan father and an American mother, he was bred, brought, educated in America and he is true citizen whose total loyalty lies in the US, many ordinary Kenyan, particularly members of the Luo community, consider him as one of their own. This belief has given the US presidential hopeful a near fanatic following in this Luo predominantly region.

Sen.Obama’s enthusiasm support also come from nearly all the Kenyan communities and Africa in general as his victory and accession to the throne of one of the most powerful nation on the earth is considered by many is a victory to all mankind against the hither to massive oppression and suppressions of black people by the white supremacies.

Obama’s election victory in the US is expected to bring the sanity among the mankind world over the universe, apart from ending up pockets of racial discrimination in some parts of the world, it is expected to bring people together for the mutual of all citizens of the world.

Obama’s supporters have also issued a stern warning to media house and website who were bent on making a quick kill by publishing concocted and distorted articles against him during the electioneering campaign that their heinous activities and schemes were well recorded been noted down “Those who have been hired to write rubbish against the Democrat Party presidential candidate would pay dearly for their mercenaries activities.

, and they would be dealt a heavy blow. Some foreign press and even Kenyan journalist based in foreign capitals who are nursing satiable sinister motive against the Luo community, have been publishing a lot of rubbish and discrediting both Obvama and Raila in the recent past, said the Bishop.

What the overzealous Obama supporters in Kenya seemed to be unaware of is the strict budgetary of the US presidential expenditure, which are strictly controlled by the Congress and Senate’s various financial committees unlike the Kenyan system whereby a President in office can easily cough out a substantial of money top his staunch party supporters and individual, though many believes that with Obama in the White House this continent stands to reap the mutual benefits of his administration due to his roots in the continent.

But given the US buoyant economy Kenya stand to gain a lot though bilateral trade agreements, grants, collaborations in anti-terrorists, massive US funding towards the country’s poverty eradication program, donations for the anti-HIV/Aids and anti-malarial control drugs.

Kenya and the US have the standing military collaboration pacts as well as anti-terrorism pacts that has seen many terrorist suspect flushed out of their hideouts and fished away to the US controlled interrogations camps in both Cuba and Ethiopia.

Bishop Dr. Washington Ogonyo Ngede told me during a brief interview at a coffee restaurant that the clergymen will remain in the Obama family home for the next twenty four hours, and churches will open their doors for the all night vigil prayers to night in most part of the regions.

With Barrack Obama jnr at ther White Hiouse, Kenyans have good reasons of the future increased bilateral co-operation in trades, funding for the country’s budgetary support and donations and funding for the country socio-economic activities.

He, however gave a stern warning to anybody bent on mischief and acts of thuggery. People should go home early and indulge in all night prayers for Obama. He said if the Illinois Senate win the Us election, the Bishops and other leaders in the region will charter several plane loads of local leaders, civic, church elders and prominent persons who will be flown to the US to witness the Obama swearing in ceremony in Washing early next year.
