Never in my life time has a single event taken place that got so many in the world excited, surprised, hopeful, fearful and yet in agreement that no matter how anyone sees it, indeed history has been made! I am talking about the election of Senator Barack Obama of Illinois,USA, as the 44th president of the United States of America.
To set things in perspective, I need you to know that I wasn’t in this great Nation, during the time of Martin Luther King, when as I have read and heard, his speeches both electrified and annoyed some ,depending of course on what side of the aisle one was. Notwithstanding, listening to his speeches, one can tell that there were certain things happening prior and during his era, that needed to be addressed or rather changed!
I must admit that every time I have listened to his speeches, more particularly the most famous “I have a dream!,” I have found myself crying non stop! Martin Luther King’s life was cut short without living to see his dream come true!
It has been some forty years since then! While I am made to understand that some things have changed, their are many both in this country and beyond, who until November 4th, saw this great country as more of the same! And that explains why the world finds herself discussing literally of one man-President elect, Barack Obama!
The world as it is, expects a lot from president elect Barack Obama! He is seen by some as a Savior who was raised at the fullness of time to give this great country and by extension, the entire world, a different direction! Is it any wonder that many either claim him as a relative, or desire some kind of association. Indeed, the president elect finds himself, a man most admired by the majority of the people!
There is no question that my prayers and thoughts are with the president elect-Barack Obama and his lovely family. I pray that the good Lord grant give him wisdom as He did to Solomon so as to know how to lead this great nation.
As a minister, I have learned a great deal from the recent happenings. Here are a few lessons!
1. A time is coming when those still alive will witness the great making of history-the return of the Lord of the universe!
2. His second coming will usher a new kingdom, that will bring all the un fairness that has been witnessed in the entire world to an end!
3. According to Isaiah 25:9, there are those who will be excited to welcome the new King while according to Revelation 6:15-17, some will prefer rocks to fall on them than witness his Kingship!
4. After His return, the world as we know it will cease to exist! The Lord of the universe will take charge once and for all.
5. I don’t know how much longer we will have to wait before we witness the grand history in the making. Neither do I know whether or not I will be part of it. But this one thing I know, every single day, brings us closer to the grand occurrence! Hallelujah!
Then, it will not be a dream go wrong or a dream delayed, but then a dream fulfilled at the fullness of time! If there is anyone out there who has doubts that this will finally happen, President elect- Obama Barack’s acceptance speech on the evening of November 4th, 2008, before a sea of people, nay, millions world wide might as well be your answer!
I am truly excited to be alive to witness this! However, I will even rejoice more and set tears of joy when the Lord of the universe deems it appropriate to be the focus of the grand making of history! Oh! I can’t wait to be part of it! How about you loved one!
Nothing but the truth!

This is mystic non-sense. It is great indeed that we have President Obama as the first African American head of state of the USA. That this should be a harbinger of the end o the world or rapture or some return of what have you is a scandalous attitude for Africans to take.
It is the beginning of a new way of looking at things: A natural way-that indeed any citizen of USA can be president race notwithstanding. Africans to sustain this fact must continue to push hard for hard won rights and be responsible and avoid excuses like thinking the world is ending in some cosmic mystical fashion.
We have real concrete objective problems with objective solutions eg a fair trading infrastructure can assist Africa reduce poverty. A cancellation of impossible-to-pay debts will assist Africa to alleviate poverty etc….Not magic as told to us by the same people who enslaved us and continue to do so via globalization after passing through the colonization mode.
This is the reality. Period
