Thanks Peter,

My problem is with the children. I have always believed that all these horrors happen to other people but after January 2008, I have had to think again. Whoever experienced what happened in our country at that time has lost some innocence and trust in fellow human beings. That it happens with regularity in other places just makes me all the more horrified.

I was in Israel in 2002 and though everyone at home thought I was crazy to go to such a volatile place, I can assure you that the two months I spent there were most tranquil. There was no whiff of war or insecurity and I traversed the country from corner to corner. I only noted some unease when I was on the trunk road past the Gaza where the green line was coming up at the time.

May God truly help us.

Joyce;

These people have been fighting since time immemorial, look at wafilisti na waisraeli fighting all the time in the old testament, including the famous David and Goliath war. Look at how the philistines were strong and always taunting Israelites, in fact according to the bible, these people will always fight regardless of treaties being proposed.

Secondly, they all belong in the Middle East, one cannot claim the other is an immigrant. They have to learn to coexist since even our tribes came from Egypt, meandered to Cameroon, to SA and finally to Kenya, for the Luhyas and the people of western Kenya, it was a shortcut through Congo (western Bantu) and the Sudan (nilotes).

And all of us claim Tunajivunia kuwa WaKenya, with our short history formed less than 200 years ago, why can’t the middle eastern people also feel proud to be their own people having coexisted for thousands or perhaps millions of years? If they rely on saying immigrant every time an Israeli is mentioned, while they know very well they have shared history for thousands and perhaps millions of years, someone is being selfish here.

My take is, everyone has a right to call Middle East a home if they are Israeli or Palestinian (Philistine). After all, they know they have been neighbours since time immemorial. Let no one hurl stones at the others house coz they say their parents do it. Do you live in peace like that?
I hope im right.

Dear Wanabidii,

Many of us do not really understand that actual horrors taking place in Palestine and the toll this current war is taking on both the Israeli and Palestinian sides. The worst is for the little innocent ones with no idea of why this war is being fought.

The pictures here are horrific.
