Subject: Oil in Migingo?

Wazalendo wenza,

The grapevine has it that Uganda recently established that there are vast quantities of high quality commercial-grade oil and gas in Lake Victoria around Migingo Island. The oil in Migingo is supposedly of a much higher quality than that in mainland Uganda! That is why it has annexed the island and the area around it the way Nigeria did the resource-rich Bakassi peninsula, and the 1600 kilometre-long border area between Cameroon and Nigeria, extending from Lake Chad to the Gulf of Guinea. It took Cameroon 35 years to get its territory back through legal means. And till today Nigeria still has not vacated fully.

Oil or no oil, I don’t think Kenyans like myself are ready to serve legal papers on Uganda in an international court and wait for generations as lawyers outmonouver each other with legalese on such a straight forward issue. Migingo and its environs are Kenyan territory. Even Kibaki’s concession that experts should look at the maps was a negation of Kenyan sovereignty and an act of high treason by non other than the man who swore himself in at night as President of the Republic of Kenya (read the Third Governor of the Kenya Neocolony), and yet he has no clue how to run a cattledip. It is third parties or Uganda who should wax cartographical about maps and compasses. Hapana sisi wenye mali!

Now, though it is against Kenyan Law to raise a militia, this Migingo affront calls for a people’s militia to arise and do the necessary to defend our country’s integrity, since the government is not going to act as it should with economic blokades and surgical military strikes. We are told that Uganda is our major trading partner (trading with Kenya or the homeguards?), so what? Are we going to play second fiddle to those who have money? The Artur brothers were supposed to have brought us loads of money as investors and the Horrible Kibaki made them Police Commissioners…. Are we going to sell our motherland the way we have sold our parastatals?

Anyway, Kenyan citizens in Busia and Teso have no time for Ugandan arrogance and can be mobilised at short notice to impose an effective Road and Rail embargo on Uganda. Ugandans don’t mess around with us.

Are there any like-minded people on this listserve who can help organise a public forum at which we shall serve Kibaki notice to take action on Migingo or be kicked out of office? Kwani yeye ni nani to undermine our soverignty? He can get away calling us mavi ya kuku or being sworn in at night because both are temporary irritants, but not doing an irreversible act as peeing on our sovereignty by allowing even an iota of our country to be annexed…

Look at the resources America deployed recently to rescue one citizen from the Somali pirates!!! It did not matter that the pirates were four teenagers armed with light guns! Naval destroyers and helicoper gunships were deployed, and highly skilled SEALS were parachuted into the theatre to make nonesense of the nononesense situation. What mattered to Americans was that one of their own was facing imminent danger, and their sovereignty was being challenged. The lesson is that you do not negotiate or appease bullies as that only makes them bold, to demand bigger things.

Decades ago Great Britain sailed half-way around the world to kick Argentina in the teeth over the Falklands! When Idi Amin annexed Kagera in Tanzania, Nyerere did what a commander-in-chief does – he not only kicked him out of Tanzanian territory and out of power in Kampala, but he lost his own son in the process who was shot down bombing Amin’s troops. He did not keep his own out of harm’s way as he sent other people’s children to their deaths as some selfish and cowardly leaders in this country do when calling for mass “acsion”.

It is nightmarish to imagine that Ugandan boyscouts are impishly flying their flag over our territory as our soldiers nap away in their barracks, simply because they have a eunuch for a Commander-in-Chief. Please excuse my language but, as John Garang used to say, “we cannot have a law society in a war society!” On many ocassions Ugandan troops have bombed our people in northern Kenya and suffered no consequences, not even just kicking their ambassador out until they learn some good manners. This has made them bold to the point they are now annexing a strategic part of our territory with demonic abandon.

And as all his is happening, all our forests are gone, including Mt. Kenya, and rivers and lakes are drying up across the country. The Kshs 10 trillion per annum economy of our exclusive economic zone in the Indian ocean is dominated by foreign fishing fleets while we don’t have a single deep sea fishing unit worth the name. Why, for example, couldn’t we even use the 400 million assigned the Ministry of Fisheries in the last budget to dig ponds in my home province Western, to pay a deposit for a proper fishing vessal so we could catch the wild fish and not struggle growing some in ponds? No wonder we get 94% of our 70 metric ton fish from our 6% share of Lake Victoria and only 4% from the Indian Ocean, yet the annual yield of fish from our Indian Ocean waters is 200,000 metric tones! This fish is caught by foreigners!!! Why can’t we deploy Mungiki, Sungu Sungu, SLDF, etc. to catch these stocks of fish? WHY? WHY? WHY? Why are most of our resources being abused as poverty ravages and reduces us to wild dogs who kill each other over left overs? WHY? WHY SHOULD MUZUNGUS COME FROM NORWAY AND SPEND SIX MONTHS FISHING AND EXPORTING FISH NONSTOP AS WE WATCH IN AWE ON THE SHORELINE WITH FISHING RODS???

WHAT A DISISTROUS PECKING ORDER!!!

Over to you!

Omtatah,

If a rag tag army is formed by like minded Kenyans like you and I, believe me I will be there to fight, even with slings and stones. I have been to these fish rich Islands like Remba, Ringiti, Migingo and I know how much they matter to the local community, and by extension the Kenyan economy. Large amounts of fish exported from Kenya(especially the Nile perch)come from these Islands.

For Uganda to come over 300Km to claim an Island 15Km away from the Kenyan shoreline(Miuru Bay) is an absurdity that even Kibaki and Wetangula cannot explain what they have been negotiation.

Like I said here before, this Commader -In-Chief,General Kiguoya will not be relied upon to get us back Migingo. Let us serve a 14 day notice to Kibaki to act on Migingo or we shall mobilize the people from Kericho,Awasi, Ahero, Kisumu all the way to Busia to make sure no goods pass through to Uganda, all such goods destined for Uganda should be impounded by the common Mwananchi for the good of Kenyans.

The same way Uganda is defrauding forcefully Kenyans on Migingo, so should the people of Kenya take by forceful means their goods.

Enough time for this nonsense of negotiation from Wetangula and Kibaki.

This word should be spread through email, sms, word of mouth etc and a date set for a peoples action against Uganda’s raping of our sovereignity.

I suggest, a 14 day notice beginning 17th April 2009. Omtatah, with your legal jargon, you can write the notice and pass it on to BiddiAfrica and all Kenyans of good will shall sign.

It is time to act on Migingo!!!

Guys,

Usually I dont comment on Kibaki’s leadership, but his silence over the matter has been bad.

Migingo island is creating a rift even outside here with our Ugandan colleagues. Who is cheating who? The kenyan delegation went to kampala and they agreed on some raft measures to be undertaken which included;
– The uganda forces withdraw from the island
– The ugandans lower their flag.
– The Ugandan authorities npt to levy any charges on the kenyan fishermen.

Minister for Foreign affairs conveyed the message to the Kenyans who were very happy. Of course the measures were to be undertaken as the profesionals in the field for both countries decides who owns the island .

What we heard they following day after they met from a one ombori(the kenyan chairman of the beach) was not good. Instead the ugandans reinforced their forces on the island.

Then Kibaki meets Museveni in Lusaka, the same promise was made , this time by the chief commander himself that those guys are withdrawing- what they do- museveni sent more Army!!! who is fooling who- ? categorically i will say it is kibaki and the kenya delegation.

My suggestion;
– In Nyanza we ave enough ragtag army who can do the job- The chinkororo of Kisii, Baghdadboys of kisumu, the Kuria redhat army assisted by the Transmara morans and of course the Kalenjins warriors.
.If the Government is not protecting its citizens then the people ought to protect themselves.

Kudos to the Thai people who have the guts to teach their government on how to perform their duties.

John Kerina,

You also forgot the Taliban and Angola-Musumbiji that can be revived and funded, with our very own contribitions if need be to fight for our dignity if General Kibaki Kiguoya is trying to embarrass Kenyans by not deploying our army to do what we pay them to do given Uganda has shown clearly that they are not going to give up on Migingo with negotiations, these armies should be used tactfully.

The first tactic is to “employ” the armies to “levy taxes” on all goods headed to Uganda via Nairobi-Busia road.

This will be in retaliation to Uganda levying taxes on kenyan fishermen on Kenyan soil. If Uganda still continues to be obstinate, there should be an all out blockade of any good heading to Uganda.

Kiguoya Kibaki should not think Kenyans shall look as he sells our motherland. The armies will keep his forces very busy at home along the Nairobi-Busia Highway because as sure as sunrise, Kiguoya shall deploy them on Kenyans fighting for their very own sovereignity.

In retrospect, the army will be “doing something” for what we pay them,if they cannot engage our enermies, they will be deployed, as has been the case, on innocent citizens.

As things stand, all our bubble Generals are doing nothing that I can call worthwhile.

Triple O,
I agree with your sentiments without any reservations. Waiting for Kibaki admin to act on this serious issue may be a realy long long wait.
Let us mobilise our resources ( both human and material ) and defend ourselves.I bet the first option may be the modalities for crafting this people`s army.
We can then see how to contribute in order to make the army in force. It is illegal but I guess we are left with no any other options.Meanwhile , the embargo on goods to Uganda
should be effected as soon as the notice to Kibaki is over.

Masira and Omtatah and all patriots,

I suggest that the notice to Kibaki be given now to expire on the 30th of April 2009.

On the 1st of May 2009( May Day), the People’s Army should start by “levying taxes” on all goods destined for Uganda. This should continue for a whole month and it should be immaterial how many “toll stations” our boys shall erect between Nairobi and Busia.

If Uganda does not relinquish the Island in two weeks from May 1st 2009, an all out blockade should be imposed when all the goods destined for Uganda are “Nationalised” by the people of Kenya as payback for the taxes they collect from Kenyans on Migingo illegally.

This should continue until Museveni and General Kiguoya reach an understanding on why Museveni should annex parts of Kenya and expect to get away with it.

Subject: WE must reclaim our country!!!!

Dear Citizen,

Owing to our President’s refusal to deal with the matter of Uganda annexing Kenya’s Island of Migingo, the citizens plan to reclaim their land back. The Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces has abdicated his duties but as Kenyans we cannot abdicate our duties as patriots of Kenya. Like Kenyatta did when Idi Amin tried to annex parts of Kenya, we must stand up and fight with all means available this blatant greed by Yoweri Museveni, the greed to take Migingo which is rich in Nile perch, the main fish exported from Lake Voctoria and a potential for oil production on the island.

Museveni knows this, unfortunately for us, Kibaki is still playing the tribal politics with Migingo simply because it is not in an area that supports him.Soon, Museveni will lay claim to other Islands rich in Nile Perch like Remba, Ringiti,Rusinga among many others.

The resources of Migingo are necessary for this economy, moreso, our sovereignity cannot be compromised, right now, it is a great stake!!

What exactly is Kibaki and Wetangula “negotiating” over Migingo? How can you “negotiate” your own territory?

Britain fought a war with Argentina over a similar small rocky Island, the Faulklands, not for its economic potential but for the dignity and sovereignity of the British people.Argentina got a bloody nose and they have never played around again, till the Island issue was resolved amicably. Just like Amin never played around again after Jommo Kenyatta(RIP) behaved like a President should, protect is country, we must rise to the occasion.

If we let our neigbours start laying claims on our land, soon we will be “negotiating” with Somalia over Nothern parts of Kenya and God knows who else. This is a precedent that must be stopped.

The plan of action to hit Uganda where it hurts most, to have a blockade on all goods to Uganda in the next two weeks until Uganda relinquishes it’s claim on Migingo. The blockade should begin on May 1st(May Day).
Migingo is 15Km from Miuru Bay,on the Kenyan shoreline, there is no way it can be in Uganda whose shoreline is over 300Km away!!!

Because Kibaki is procrastinating on this, and every time they “reach and agreement” with Uganda, Museveni sends in more troops. Now Migingo is being patrolled by foot soldiers, helicopter and sea boats from Uganda. This is an act of war!!!!

Uganda is collecting taxes from Kenyans on Kenyan soil and Kenyans now need visas to travel to and from the mainland to visit their families from the Island where they earn a living!!!!

If it is disputed, then there should be forces from both sides and flags from both sides flying till ownership is established, why is it Uganda soldiers patrolling, flags flying and taxes levied??

As a patriot, send this email to as many patriotic Kenyans as yourself, that together as a people, we shall stand up and fight for our country even if our leader lets us down. Right now we are on our own on this, but we have what can hurt Uganda most, our port of Mombasa.

If we block their goods for over a month, along the route to Uganda in places like Kericho, Kisumu all the way to Busia, Uganda will soon come back to their senses. We may as well “nationalise” all goods to Uganda given they too are illegally collecting taxes from Kenyans. Our “boys on the road” should set up “toll stations” to collect these “taxes” from Ugandan bound hauliers. If Uganda wants to play dirty, we can play ditier!!!!

The struggle to reclaim our country has just begun. This will be a people of Kenya’s Innitiative to reclaim their territory.Where Kibaki has failed, we shall succeed.

Let as many Kenyans know of this initiative and when the call comes, let the people of Kenya arise to bring back our dignity and self esteem that right now Uganda is dragging in the mud and spiting us!! The day is May 1st 2009 when the action begins!!!!

Kibaki met Museveni only a few days and they agreed Ugandan flags would be lowered and soldiers withdrawn as they seek a solution, what did he do soon after? Send in more troops, a helicopter and patrol boats!!!!!

We have a Presidend only on paper, otherwise we are all alone, Kibaki as is known in some circles, is a General Kiguoya(coward!!)

Omtatah,

I was pissed off watching The Chief of the General Staff, ‘General’ Kianga dismiss the Migingo Island as a non issue.

This was a very sad day for me.

He said again that they have not been given any orders to act, confirming our fears that Migingo is a deal between Kibaki and Museveni.

Lastly he said that if anything, we are going for a Federation and as much, we must not fight over small issues.

My goodness! That is the Chief of the General Staff talking.

1] How come to Uganda Migingo is a non issue?
2] The ‘General’ confirmed that they have no orders to act. I do not know why they get their salaries anyway.
3] If we are supposed to go the Federation way, is it only applicable to Kenya? It does not bind Uganda.

I join Okiyah Omtatah in defense of Kenya. And in recognition of that, welcome to the team. I assign you number 2, Right Fullback , in defense of Kenya. We still have a team to make;
1] The Goal Keeper;
2] Right full back; Okiya Omtatah Okoiti
3] Left full back; J O Mamboleo
4] Central defender;
5] Stopper; Kuria Mwangi
6] Midfielder; Odhiambo T Oketch
7] Right winger;
8] Central Midfielder; Judy Miriga
9] Striker; James Nduko
10] Distributor;
11] Left winger;Nicholas Oyoo

Then we will have the reserve team and the spectators.

They all make up the team. A truly Kenyan Team for Kenyans and by Kenyans.

Oketch,

These men you call Generals are not real “Generals”, these are political psychophants who are quickly moved up the ranks and others “retired” to create room for them so that they can lick ass.

True General are the likes of Mulinge, Tonge and Sumbeiywo, men of uniform whose alligience to country and constitution is above reproach.

Remember our gallant Generals refused plans by the Biwotts and company to refuse a peaceful hand-over to Kibaki in 2003. The ones you have today? These ones can sell the country and their wives if the price is right!!!

So our plan of action, fight Uganda our own way, mobilise our young Kenyans to blockade Uganda from May 1st 2009 till Uganda gives back Migingo.

If we fought the 2007 stolen elections and overwhelmed the election thieves, who is Museveni to stand in our way and rape our sovereignity? This message should spread like bushfire, soon the boys in Nyalenda and Kondele,Manyatta and Migosi will stand in the way of Museveni, the economic backlash will be so great he will not know what hit him!!!

The struggle must not be left to cowards like Kianga and Kibaki,we do not need a Federation with a country that disrespects us>

Uganda is flying its flags on Kenyan soil, patrolling land, lake and air right now in Kenya, this is an act of aggression and and hostility and an actual declaration of war…if Kianga does not think so, maybe it is time some young fellows replaced him!!!!

Subject: Saying the bare truth about Migingo

This is why Migingo is not a Kenya Government Affair

1. It is and has been an official state policy since 12th Dec. 1963 to sideline Nyanza Province and its people more so those who speak Dholuo in all it activities, Little wonder they keep on refering to it as the sleeping giant. Kenyatta began it, Moi perfected it and now Kibaki proves the point. He has served in all the three regimes from the above date.

2. It is very possible that this Island has been sold to the Ugandans but no body wants to tell Kenyans the truth. The consideration can be anything from a petty cash reward to the back-up Kibaki received from the Ugandan army in Jan 2007. We all know they came into Kenya and Killed a lot of innocent Kenyans in the name of quelling post election Violence- why did they wear Kenya police uniforms?

3. A certain school of thought suggests that there could be oil in that part of the world. After their Lake Albert find they are hungry for more sites, The reason more why Kenya should be weary.

4. The composition of the armed forces. Are we seeing what in Moi’s days was refered to as home guards? You do not want to send your children to war! You’d rather hire outsiders. However you need them to keep you in office. Perhaps the deaths of 20 homeguards is more painful than that of 200 citizens in West Pokot.

5. Kenya does not know its own Military capacity. It is unable to measure its own capability. What we see is just an ornamental army that can only be pitted against its own unarmed citizenry like they did in Mt. Elgon.

6. The powers that be do not have a direct benefit from Migingo. They do not have fish processing factories in the region and if they do, they have positioned them on the Ugandan part of the lake.

7. Somebody is sleeping on the Job.

It is understandable the Kenyan Luo are a frustrated lot. What made Orengo to start backbiting Ugandan officials in Luo? Doesn’t Orengo know that there are more Luo speakers in Uganda than even Kenya and Tanzania?

And how much of Lake Victoria does Kenya own anyway? The fish that Kenyan fishermen are lamenting about are from Ugandan side. Odinga admits that Kenya owns on 6% of the lake. Compare it with 43% that Uganda owns. And even if Bugiri is far from Migingo, and Migingo is much nearer the Kenyan shore, please have a glimpse at the map, then you guys will know that the island is Uganda’s.

Some misguided folks are talking about oil in Migingo? There is nothing like that. Uganda has oil all the way from Lake Albert, along the River Nile to Luo Alur are up to Amuru in Luo Acholi area.

Kenyan Luo, wake up. Physical sovereignty is mythy. Moreover, Kenya is disintegrating and they have to cling to Migingo in order to quarrel with Uganda to divert from the internal problems and lack of a meaninful government in Nairobi that is in a political marriage that is on the rocks. Odinga is already a lame duck. By now the Kenyan Luo know this. He is trying to recover and has to have a go at Uganda so that Kenyan Luo can purpot that his still bites. But, his teeth have been pulled out by joining a political marriage thus missing the opportunity to lead the country.

    YPS_Ke,
It is indeed very saddening that we have a moribund president who takes a laid back approach to issues, even when they are important.

I ask why Uganda has gained such courage to annex an isle that for years has been inhabited by Kenyans. The issue of Migingo island is something “not so small” as the Chief of General staff put it the other day. It seems there is something wrong with our leaders. In case the government cannot protect its own citizens, then they are right in coming up with ways of protecting themselves.

That we have Ugandan soldiers taxing and demanding that anyone who wants to access Migingo Island to produce a passport? This government is not serious.

Is it because the inhabitants of that isle are luos – have always been opposed to the powers that be since independence? Am saddened to learn that this would be true! In fact, am sick of being a Kenyan!

Well for that I beg to digress and have my professional hat off for a moment! Why is President Kibaki silent on matters affecting territorial issues and even willing to tell us in a press conference that he has one wife?

I think the migingo matter has a lot more to it than what meets the eye? Either it was given as ransom for Museveni sending his troops into Western Kenya(Nyanza, Rifvalley, Western) to beef up over stretched Kenya police forces following marred election process in December 2007 or Museveni knows something about the island that Kenya does not know!

In any case, Uganda is a land locked country who depends on us to feed their economy with goods and services etc…….what is he up to?

I am sorry to be Kenyan……why should our brothers and sisters be harrased by foreign soldiers from a neighboring country?

    Hi Triple O,
You remembered everything, comrade, but just 4got one little question we should our Gen Kiguoya (the Coward-in-Chief). What the hell are all those battle tanks and artillery pieces (that Somali pirates temporarily stole) for-if they are truly ours- when Museveni can treat us as if we are Lesotho and he is South Africa or we are Solomon Islands and he is Australia.

But even if he were these mighty states and we were a tiny one, when it comes to sovereignty, it does not matter how powerful you are. Even if it were ten big nations encroaching on our soil, we would still fight to defend our nation to the last man standing, if necessary. That is what it simply means to be a sovereign nation. The privilege of sovereignty comes with the obligation to defend it with your blood when circumstances so dictate.

If Cuba has held off America for five decades, who is Mueveni to us when he is so hopelessly dependent on us for even the fuel and spares supply lines to the tanks, jets and all military vehicles that he would presumably use to fight us?

We dont want war, but anybody who takes away our soil brings war to our doorstep and we have no choice at all. It is time our navy, army air force and all other armed forces shake down the rust from their heavily underutilised military wares in readiness.

There is no need to prove anything about Migingo, just go by the name and dont take us that route, you are upseting us now, you should have asked about its proof 45 years ago not now. It is obvious, and dont ask what is obvious. It has always been and it will remain to be Kenya’s property. Yoweri and Uganda better not ignit the wrath of Luo and Nyanza community. No one has ever claimed ownership of land especially Luos as a tradition, that which do not belong to them, especially as sensitive as land is. Moi confirmed that Migingo is Kenya’s land on Nyanza soil, what has Kibaki done, sold it? Why dont you tell us you seem to know too much, are you a share holder in this? If you are with us on the same page to protect and preserve that which belong to Kenya, then you are a true spirited Kenya, otherwise, know the days of MWIZI ni arubaini. We are crushing corruption and graft just like one would crash the head of a snake. So, make up your mind, you are with us or not, but consequences are big for those bend on corruption. No Kenyan small or big should play with Kenya’s Public Property, that is and will be treated as a very big sin ever known.

Mr. Mungai..you are quite right Sir… any government and army that CANNOT PROTECT THE COUNTRY AND THE PEOPLE in NOTHING GOVERNMENT to put politely! Who are these jokers in Kenya government: when they with Uganda ministers in conference in Nairobi they “fall’ issue will be solved peacefully”.In private, the same Uganda ministers are telling Standard that Migingo belonged to Uganda ..no matter what Kenya says”. The Kenya Ministers who I saw with Uganda ministers CANNOT even speak forcefully on this subject..they are always seconding what Uganda ministers are saying. These Kenya ministers seem to be condeming the press and the public who are concern with Migingo issue. These useless Kenya ministers who are holding and kissing Uganda minister’s ring fingers should know that the public is not going to give up on Migingo as they have have!

The public may “stupid..but not damn” like they think!. It is laughable when Kenya government spokesperson says that ” they are no Uganda troops in Migingo, Kenya fishermen are not under curfew and not paying taxes to Uganda..how stupid does these so called official thinks the public is?. Kenya officials whether be ministers or spokesman reminds us of ” Baghdad Bob” who declared victory for Iraq while US troops we entering the city” Long time ago news in this country was controlled by the government..you remember Voice of Kenya radio was the only sources of news and information. These Kenya ministers think that the days state controlled news never left when they lie to the PUBLIC.. For your information, the public now has access to : cell phone on Migingo Island, internet and Google earth map to tell and show them what is going on Migingo Island on time. The days of relying on government official to as the only source of information are over..a lesson that has NOT reached Kenya gov. officials.

We know one thing,Kenya people will NOT be divided in Migingo Island wether these politicians like or NOT. We are one people and one nation when it comes to defending the motherland. Mr. Museveni should get this message loud and clear. Or to put in another way:Mwangi, otieno , mutiso, Ahamad, Salat, Wamalwa and all other Kenya tribes will stand together to fight Uganda on: the Islands and on land. We hope these Kenya ministers will convey this message to their Uganda counter parts Some there is feeling that Kibaki government will not protect Luoland territory, “this house will not be dived” ALL Kenyans will fight to defend this country regardless of tribal affliations Yes, Kenya has: domestic politics, tribal and party politics that sometimes divide the people but when it come to the intergrity of protecting our bordres we will stand together to face off the aggressor…and Uganda must know this!

There is no need for public officials to lie to the people on this issue. No body want to be personal but some of these officials cannot even speak in complete sentence or never mastered the use of diplomatic language in public forums yet they are paraded to speak for the government on this issues. No wonder when they are with Uganda ministers they get dominated.. you don’t even know what the hell Kenya officials are saying when it is there turn to speak.

It is huge mistake for Kenya government even to fall on the trap of supporting the new map survey for the Island that has been suggested by Uganda and they have agreed too. The British have the original maps showing Kenya ownership of this Island…oridinary people too can Google Migingo Island and see for themselves!. What Kenya officials these Kenya officials calling for new survey don’t understand is that the Uganda DOES NOT LIKE OR AGREE WITH THE EXISTING MAP!. When the new survey is done mark my word!… Uganda will say that ” but we don’t agree with the the old map that placed this Island on Kenya side”…then what will Kenya government do at this time???. I have said before and Iwill say it here again!..possesion is 9/10 of the law..remember secquaters right theory! ..Uganda troops will be still in full of control of Migingo as they are today. To President Kibaki goes without say, it is your responsibility to protect the borders and the the citizens of this country. Mr. Museveni is misleading you and your government officials on Migingo Island. It is time you send your armed forces like Uganda is currently doing to protect your country and our citizens. That the police were on high alert in Kisumu,Kakamega Eldoret, Mombasa, Nairobi because they thought kenyans are tired of this Museveni imbecile behavior of trading uganda killers in Kisumu in 2007 for fish in Migingo.Kenyans do not want to take action on their own because they have a government they are watching.Otherwise people have many ways of solving this problem just in one day and Museveni will surrender. How much Fish did Meseveni ask for to pay him back for his support in 2007 Kenya’s elections violence.I NEVER THOUGHT HUMAN LIFE COULD BE TRADED FOR FISH.
By the way what was the joint press conference for. What does alfred mutua know about West Kenya?.How do you negotiate with someone who has invaded your home?.

Military is no might. Evidence: see what the Talibans and teenage pirates are doing to the mightiest Army in the world in the Afghan war and the sea war in the Indian Ocean.
On the military side also the man should not just take our Army for granted. Our Army should immediately under take military manouvres around lake Victoria to deter Museveni and a permanent Naval base should be established on Lake Victoria because it is now apparrent that threats to our maritime territory does not just come form the sea but from rogue states like Uganda.
If the EAC dies for the second time then the killer will be Museveni yet the man made an extensive tour of Kentanzania campaigning to be the first EAFEDERATION President. What does this expansionist really want or is he taking advantage of the political confusion that is Kenya today.

Guys, I do not agree that we need to be careless about calling for WAR. The cost of the cheapest war is way higher than the most expensive diplomatic engagement. The extend of human and property loss and life disruption and perennial instability that will be experience in case of war, is unimaginable. We must be careful what we agitate for. However long it takes, we can resolve this diplomatically. That is the only option available to us. The remote thought of war or any manner of aggression must be eliminated completely. Migingo is not worth a single Kenyan life…

We will not form a people’s mlitia to fight Museveni because we should first form a people-power political force to remove the bure Grand Coalition government if they cannot use our taxes to protect us from regional bullies with bloated egos like Museveni.

Please excuse my language but, as John Garang used to say, “we cannot have a law society in a war society!” On many ocassions Ugandan troops have bombed our people in northern Kenya and suffered no consequences, not even just kicking their ambassador out until they learn some good man

    Dear All,

As you may well know, a group of Kenyans proceeded to Nairobi’s Central Police Station to serve the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) a notification of our intention to hold a public rally (remember Kenyatta’s Mandamano?) to demand an immediate end to this Migingo circus, or a new leadership which can lead this country in a manner that Kenya istahili heshima…

The OCS gave us a slip and left instructions that nobody should receive the letter. We tricked his Deputy into receiving a copy by challenging him to show us which part was offensive. As soon as he received it from us we told him that we had served the notification. We then pinned a copy on the door to the office of the OCS. We then began addressing the press right on the verandah of the police station. We went on for about 15 minutes then we heard blaring sirens approaching the Station. The OCS’s offical car and a chase car were tearing through the heavy traffic back towards the station. They jumped out of their vehicles guns and teragas at the ready but it looks like they were rendered helpless that a handful of civilians were holding a press conference right inside their hallowed grounds.

I moved towards the speechless OCS who had frozen halfway out of his front passenger’s seat. All he could mutter was, “Omtatah, mbona untaka kunifuta kazi na sisi ni marafiki?”

I told him all my colleagues and I wanted was to serve a notification to the station but he had vanished when we approached. He said, “Kama ni hiyo tu, lete. Nitawajibu.” He took the letter in his shaking hands and we left.

Attached herewith below is the notification we served on the OCS, Central Police Station. I hope those of you on this listseve who live in Nairobi will join us for the 10.00 am to 4.00 pm Uhuru Park rally on Saturday, April 25, 2009. We are not calling for war, but emanding that Uganda respects us. Failure to do that, Kibaki should do what both Kenyatta and Moi did to frustrate similar designs by Uganda.

    Dear Sir,

RE: NOTIFICATION TO HOLD A PEACEFUL PUBLIC RALLY OVER THE MIGINGO ISLAND ISSUE BY PATRIOTIC CITIZENS OF KENYA AT UHURU PARK ON SATURDAY APRIL 25, 2009

We, the undersigned and other Patriotic Kenyans, hereby bring to your notice our intention to hold a public rally as subjected above. We request you to provide adequate security and to control traffic as Kenyans peacefully congregate at Uhuru Park for the rally on Saturday, April 25, 2009, from 10 am to 4 pm, to:

Publicly and plainly reaffirm our unwavering stand that Migingo Island is and has always been an integral part of the territory of the Republic of Kenya , and that it is equal to any other part of Kenya , and we will not allow it to be marginalised and discriminated against.
Demand the unconditional removal of the Ugandan flag from, and the evacuation of Migingo Island by the occupying armed forces of the Republic of Uganda , within 24 hours of the rally.
If they do not do so, the Ugandan Ambassador to Kenya should be kicked out and ours recalled from Kampala upon the expiry of the 24 hour ultimatum, and a punitive economic blockade be imposed on Uganda .
Demand the immediate suspension of the East African integration talks and the immediate withdrawal of the Kenyan delegation from the said sham talks.
Demand that General Jeremiah Kianga, the incompetent Chief of General Staff, immediately vacates office for playing politics with the sovereignty and security of the Republic of Kenya .

We consider it an act of HIGH TREASON for President Kibaki to side with the invading Ugandans by speaking and acting in a manner to suggest that Migingo Island is not clearly an integral part of Kenya . Which constitution did he swear to protect if he doesn’t know such basics? Which country does he purport to rule if Kenya ’s boundaries are a matter for negotiation with expansionist neighbours?

Mr. Kibaki has no mandate to renegotiate Kenya ’s boarders? By purporting to do so, irrespective of whether he uses surveyors or whatever experts as a concession mechanism, he is endangering the security and sovereignty of the Republic. If Migingo is negotiable so is any part of the Republic! That is extremely dangerous and we will not be spectators in our destruction.

We are hereby serving a 14 day notice on President Kibaki to immediately discharge his oath of office to defend the Constitution of Kenya by reclaiming Migingo islands. Failure to which, he should vacate office immediately to pave way for a more able Kenyan to take charge in the spirit of our National Anthem which in part states:

Daily Nation on Migingo 19th April 2009

In the edition of the Nation yesterday, their editorial talked about the issue of ‘Mijinjo’ Island. They said and I quote; ‘Museveni correctly think it is a shame to wrangle over a small territorial dispute when we should be fighting for the creation of an East African Federation.’

Check who is talking. Who is it that has invaded another country? If Museveni correctly believe that it is a shame to wrangle over small territorial disputes, why then has he invaded Migingo Islands?

Did the person who authored this editorial at the Nation put his mind to proper use before coming up with such an absurdity? Can the Nation quote Museveni on this issue and add the term ‘correctly’?

Anyway, I do not want to doubt the intentions that inspired the Nation to come up with such an editorial.

It brought me to ask myself a few questions. What are the roles of the police and the Army? When they graduate from their respective training colleges, the police swear to uphold and enforce the rule of law in the country. To this extent, when they are on patrol and they come across crime, they do not wait for any orders from anybody else. They act on the spot and the law takes its course.

Similarly, when the members of the Armed Forces graduate from their training colleges, they swear to protect the territorial integrity of Kenya from any external aggression. This is their cardinal responsibility. This is why we feed them that lavishly at the barracks. What I would have expected from our armed forces was a report that they had beaten the hell out of these Ugandans and then they wait for orders from their Commander-in-Chief.

I did not expect that members of our armed forces will plead luck of orders when Kenya is invaded, while, that is the reason for which they exist.

It makes the whole issue of Migingo look very silly.

Can Kenyans remember how Museveni took the Okellos in circle during their fight in 1986? Museveni was signing a peace deal with the Okellos and at the same time, tightening his grip on Uganda inch by inch. That is what he is doing with Kenya now.

Our ministers travel to Uganda to negotiate about our Island and immediately they return, Museveni adds to more solders to the Island bringing the number to 4. Our ministers and his go to Migingo and an official from the Fisheries Department in Uganda shuts down our Minister in the presence of 2 Provincial Commissioners and Police Commanders, and all hell breaks loose.

Our team run to their boat and comes back to safety and immediately Museveni sends in some 2 more police making the number to 6. He then goes to Zambia and meets with our CinC and they agree on spending Kshs 140 million to confirm what we all know; where Migingo is. Immediately they come back, Museveni sends in a Brigadier to take command of the Island and levy new taxes. Thereafter, he sends his spin doctor Mr. Opolot to come and bully our own spin doctor Mr. Alfred Mutura. Opolot made our Mutua tremble with fear at KICC in a charade of a press conference.

The following day, he sends his Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mr. Isaac Isanga Musumba to come and tell us in Nairobi that if we doubt where Migingo is, we can go to hell, sorry, Hague.

Surely, can the Nation in their Editorial quote Museveni as correctly thinking that it is a shame to wrangle over a small territorial dispute?

Things must be very elephant at the Nation. Or do they know the secret that Mutua and Kibaki are privy to?

    Odhiambo T Oketch,
    Komarock Nairobi.

Kenyans must demand action over Migingo 2nd April 2009

The world must know that for the last eight months, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has been levying taxes on Kenyans leaving at Migingo Island, an Island in Kenya, 15 Kilometres from Muhuru mainland of Kenya and 260 Kilometres from the nearest mainland in Uganda. This is an act of aggression.

During all that time, the world famed ruthlessness of the Kenya Police against Kenyans and the brutality exhibited by the Kenya Army in Mt Elgon and Wagir against Kenyans has been conspicuously absent. The Kenya Police even took off from Migingo at the first sight of 2 armed Police Officers from Uganda.

Yesterday, Migosi Raila Odinga was emphatic that Migingo belongs to Kenya and that the Ugandan flag that has been hoisted there for the last eight months must be lowered immediately. He went on to say that only 6% of Lake Victoria belongs to Kenya. As a partner in this government, I would have wanted to hear from him that all those Ugandans at Migingo have been arrested for being in Kenya illegally, and are been detained at Kodiaga Prisons awaiting to appear in Court.

If 94% of the Lake belongs to Uganda and Tanzania, then, johana mane ma ooro Museveni mondo okaw Migingo Islands? [What is this madness that has made Museveni invade Kenya?]

Why are we negotiating with Museveni? If the Army, the Police and the politicians can not reclaim Migingo, the people will, the people of Kenya must. We will stop all transit vehicles to Uganda, either through rail or road transport. We must stop all transit vehicles either by rail or road into Uganda with immediate effect.

    It is very simple;

1] The Kenya Police must immediately arrest all those people masquerading as Ugandan Police at Migingo. They are in Kenya illegally. Do not negotiate this. It is so sad when an invader shuts down our Minister in the presence of 2 Provincial Commissioners, the Police Commanders and the press. Why is the Police Commissioner being sent to Uganda to negotiate with the invaders? Why has he never been sent to negotiate with Kenyans in areas of conflict? They cannot fool us!

2] The Armed Forces of Kenya must cease being ornaments best used for passing out parades. They must defend the territorial space of Kenya. They must not negotiate with Museveni over any bit of an inch of Kenya. They must repulse those invaders with the full force that they can. Why move into Elgon and Wagalla with such might and force, and put your tails between your legs when your services are most needed? When Kenya has been invaded?

3] The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Kenya must know that Kenya has been invaded. He must act to protect Kenya and Kenyans. We do not eat new Districts. We eat the fish that Museveni is now controlling at Migingo. For Gods sake, can those people who meet Kibaki daily tell him that Migingo has been invaded and has been under the firm grip of Museveni for the last 8 months? And that he is the Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Armed Forces, as Mutula and Kalonzo likes reminding us.

Unless he and they know something that we do not know.

The Commander-in-Chief’s response to the Migingo crisis, now in its eighth month, leads most of us to confirm that there is a deal between him and Museveni. This deal is a fulfillment of favours earlier extended, or a deal expected in future. And that future is 2012.

If we look at how Kibaki has bestrowed Kenya in the past 6 years, I am convinced that the president does not mean well for Kenya. If a part of Kenya can be invaded by a country like Uganda and he keeps silent, then his leadership is wanting. It is also not by surprise that the President has refused to visit that same part of Kenya for the entire period he has been President of Kenya.

Museveni had invaded Rwanda and Kagame beat him so quickly and so ruthlessly that he cannot try again. He invaded DRC and again, Kagame came to the rescue of DRC and beat him there. He tried Tanzania and he knew the repercussions. He knows that Tanzanians will beat him and follow him to Kampala and topple him, the way they did with Idi Amin Dada.

He tried South Sudan, and the rag tag army of the southern Sudan dared him. They were ready for him any time, day or night. He cannot dare Ethiopia. He knows that Menes Zenawi does not take those kinds of jokes lightly.

He then turned to Kenya and invaded Migingo and for eight months, his flag has been high as he collects taxes from Kenyans.

The fact that our trigger happy police force could fold their tail and take off speaks volumes. What is the rationale of unleashing too much force on students who are just rioting while you turn a blind eye to an invader?

Where is the force needed? Against our own or against the invaders? I cannot believe that our normally ruthless police force could have left Migingo in fear of Museveni. There must have been an order to withdraw.

I also do not believe that our ceremonial ornaments in the barracks are that cowardly. They invaded Mt Elgon and beat our own Saboat people ruthlessly. There must have been an order for non interference. If our Army can beat people senseless in Mount Elgon and in Wagir, what can stop them from beating these Ugandans from Migingo?

Or, is it that our police and army are at their best against civilians, people who have no guns? People who cannot defend themselves?

Surely, if the Police could cordon off Uhuru Park for a whole one month in January 2007, can they surely be so afraid of Museveni and his team at Migingo? If the Police could kill so many Kenyans just to ensure that Kibaki became our President, can they not kill these 2 Ugandans at Migingo? Can they surely be so afraid in Migingo?

No. It is not the Police, it is not the Army. It is the Commander-in-Chief.

If the President does not want to take action, Kenyans must now defend their territorial integrity. We did it before by uprooting the Railway line to Uganda. We did it before by stopping all transit vehicles through Busia and Malaba.

If Uganda has invaded Kenya, and the Kenya Police and Army are under instructions not to intervene, Kenyans must take the law into their hands and protect our boundaries.

It is a shame that a rag tag army in Somali can act so swiftly whenever there is territorial violations while an Independent Kenya, cries baby.

It is sad to note that the President is doing nothing to promote peace, national healing and reconciliation in Kenya. He is refusing, for purposes of expediency, to be the symbol of national unity.

It looks to me like Migongo is an advance post for 2012, and we must view it as such. Kenya must not loose any inch of land, more so to Yoweri Museveni.

If the Army and the Police are under instructions not to defend us, let us defend ourselves. Sijivuni kuwa Mkenya!

Subject: Minister says Migingo probe waste of money – OCPD Simon Kiragu Dares NCCK Bishop Koyo

    Folks,

The OCPD Simon Kiragu is too arrogant and confrontational so he must be shown the door and must be gotten rid of from Kisumu because he cannot and have no right to dare angry citizens by way of threat. These are the hardcore police from Kibaki’s blood line who who uses iron fists and causes mayhem against innocent citizens of Kenya. He is braging to Wanainchi because he has been authorized by Kibaki’s henchmen to use authoritative on Kisumu people and silence them by firearm considering the citizens are disarmed.

He has no right to dare public who are genuinely making demands for their stolen property Migingo the sale which was privately engineered in a conspiracy by President Kibaki. He must therefore be removed from that station immediately before matters get worse than it has already become. The World knows what is going on in Migingo and have factual records of the same, so we all know what Kibaki is after by instigating the Kisumu people.

We are just wondering, was this Kiragu put in Kisumu-Nyanza station intentionally in preparation for eventual reactions from the local inhabitants when the heat gets hotter? And knowing too well what they have done, stealing, selling and acquiring public land falsely and corruptly so he Simon Kiragu can use his office authority to intimidate and by use of threat to silence poor people of Kisumu-Nyanza, with an intention of using public utility, police and arms in the armed force to cover and protect a conspiracy in an unscrupulous behaviour of Kibaki’s thuggery, theft and killings of and from innocent poor?

Please….. OCPD Simon Kiragu, do not stir an already physically and spiritually wounded peace loving Kenyans in that region by your stupid threats. We already know you have plans and are geared to commit serious more damages to destroy Kenyans who are opposed to your stupidity, foolish, silly and uncultured behaviour but we will not let you. The likes of you are all stationed strategically expecting outpour reactions so you can hit your targets en mass to silence them because you know what you have already done to Kenyans is unacceptable, illigal, unconstitutional, incorrect, dubious, malicious, primitive, inconsequential and absurd – things you cannot do to fellow Citizens and Kenyan brothers, just because of your selfishness and gluttonness quest for power.

The pain you are causing to good Citizen of Kenyan is as bad as those of the Mutua’s, Muthaura’s, Muhoho’s etc., in the occupancy of public office using public utilities to suppress, frustrate and intimidate Kenyans in their struggle to acquire meaningful democratic rule of governance with a responsible sustainable judicial legal system in the government. You are all running the system of government as a failed state with no respect or honor to the Kenyan public needs and demands. This is where ODM needs to stand firm and act objectively and protect the interest of their electorates without wavering.

You do not talk to your bosses or your employer who are the people public with such kind of slack attitude. You have no manners or discipline. Get your acts right. You have failed your test as a public servant and better step down and leave that Office peacefully before your employer hand you a summarily dismissal notice. You are too arrogant and boastful to continue to be in that office serving very hurting community with attitudinal stance. You better quit……

Minister says Migingo probe waste of money

    Updated 17 hr(s) 6 min(s) ago
By Joel Okwayo And Peter Atsiaya

Cabinet Minister William Ruto and two other ODM leaders have dismissed the planned survey to determine Migingo Island location.

Ruto, Assistant minister Charles Keter and Mumias MP Ben Washiali said the island is Kenya’s and asked Ugandan authorities to keep off. “Carrying out a survey to ascertain whether the island belongs to Kenya is a waste of time,” said the Agriculture minister.
Ruto said negotiations going on between Kenya and Uganda should not change the boundaries. Washiali claimed the island has been sold to Uganda.

“This is going to be another Grand Regency saga if the matter is not resolved in time,” said Washiali, who is also Mumias MP.

The three ODM politicians were speaking at a funds drive in aid of Maraba Secondary School in Mumias District.

Meanwhile, religious leaders from Nyanza Province have insisted they will mobilise residents to paralyse rail and road transport from Kenya to Uganda, unless the Migingo dispute is resolved.

Bishops Joshua Koyo, Winnie Owiti, Haningtone Olambo and Canon Joshua Owiti faulted the Government plan to spend Sh140 million on a survey to establish who owns the island.
“Kenyan boundaries have not been changed to facilitate fresh survey. The money should be spent on feeding starving Kenyans,” said Koyo, who is the National Council of Churches of Kenya regional chairman.

But Kisumu OCPD Simon Kiragu dared the religious leaders to make good their threats. “What they are planning is criminal and they will face the law,” said Kiragu.

Raila rules out military intervention in Migingo

    By Kepher Otieno

Prime Minister Raila Odinga has ruled out military intervention to
resolve the dispute over Migingo Island.

“Migingo row will be resolved diplomatically and not through the gun.
The fight over the island is not about land, but its about fish,”
    Raila said.

Some politicians last week called for the forceful eviction of the
    Ugandan Police from the island.

Raila asked Kenyans not be emotional about the tiny piece of land,
    which has sparked public acrimony.

“We cannot fight over ownership of Migingo Island with Uganda. Even
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni knows the island is ours, but is
merely taking us for a ride, ” said the PM.

He cautioned youths in Nairobi’s Kibera slums against uprooting
railway line linking the two countries to protest at continued
occupation of the island by Ugandan soldiers.

“We want the issue to be solved amicably. We have tangible documents
dating back to 1904, 1947 and 1963 that clearly shows Migingo is
    ours,” he said.

“We do a lot of trade with Uganda. And the fight is therefore
unnecessary more so over an acre piece of land,” he said.

Raila was speaking during the burial of Hellen Odero Ngede, mother of
Bishop Ogonyo Ngede, chairman of Nyanza Church leaders at Rabuor in
    Kisumu East constituency.

“We can’t destroy our resources over Migingo. The issue is being
handled by a team of experts from both sides and we are sure they will
    resolve it amicably,” he said.

    Quoting Paul Nyandoto :

    Dear Kenyans,

THIS PAUL M MWANGI is still sleeping even when the sun has risen very
high above the mountain. Migingo might be a rock to him to day, but

tomorrow or in some years to come might be even an oil drilling ground.
So will he be happy when Kenyans are buying oil from Ugandans being
drilled from our territory or what?. Short sightedness and stupidity
must be differentiated in this particular case. So this Mwangi which one of these your are suffering from?.

    Thanks guys: Paul Nyandoto

    >>>> odhiambo okecth 04/23/09 11:58 >>>
Paul M Mwangi, an advocate of the High
Courts of Kenya, in his article titled ‘Tussle over Migingo’ in
today’s Daily Nation page 11 makes a rather interesting and
    uninformed opinion over Migingo Island.

This comes just a few days after the
Daily Nation in their editorial seemed to share in the view that
Migingo could be a non-issue, the same sentiments expressed by the
Chief of the General Staff of our cowards in the barracks.

Mr. Mwangi said, ‘So far, Migingo
appears to be worth nothing more than our sentimental and patriotic
regards [whatever that means]. For the country, it
appears to be of little economic value.’ Surely! What of the 5
tones of fish that Migingo generates over every 3 days? Is that of no
    economic value?

Surely, and this is a lawyer. He goes
down to make some very interesting observations. He says that Migingo
is such a useless piece that even Museveni calls it a rock. That it
cannot settle even a few hundred Kenyans or Ugandans. My foot and
    this is a lawyer!

Mr. Mwangi, it does not matter even if
it were a rock. It is Kenyan rock and nobody must take it from Kenya.
If Museveni calls it a rock, then why has he sent his Army to take
it? Why can he not wait for arbitration to determine if the rock is
Kenyan rock or Ugandan rock? Museveni has seen something useful in
the Kenyan rock and the lawyer in Mwangi is seeing nothing!

Mwangi wants us to give the rock to
Uganda in exchange of trade with Uganda. My. Do you defecate on your
sovereignty in exchange of trade? That all goods to Uganda pass
through Kenya and as such, we must give Uganda our Migingo! Surely
this lawyer has missed it all. Somebody invades your territory and
takes your land and you cower because of trade and the prospects of
loosing in that trade. Go to hell Mr. Mwangi.

Mr. Mwangi must know that Migingo is a
hub of fishing activities. It generates almost 5 tones of fish every
3 days. That is very serious business for your information. Migingo
is a source of livelihood to many families in Kenya. Many children
are taken to school by money from the proceeds of fish business. Many
families in Kenya put bread on the table courtesy of Migingo.

By the way, do you cede your land
because of trade? We will cede Migingo today, Pokot tomorrow, Busia
the next day, Malaba the following day, Kisumu the next day, all
because we must appease Uganda on the strength of trade and commerce.
We will cede Kericho, Kisii, Kakamega, Eldoret, peace by peace
because we must please Uganda on the strength of trade and commerce!
We will then cede Kabarnet, Nakuru, Gilgil, Naivasha and Limuru
because of trade and commerce. And Mr. Mwangi will be a happy man
because the strength of trade and commerce supersedes our
sovereignty. And he is a lawyer.

Soon Ugandans will be at Nairobi, and
they will take Machakos and move to Mombasa. And Kenya will be no
more because this lawyer wants us to cede our land on the strength of
trade and commerce. It reminds me of Nazi Germany where a priest kept
silent when his neighbours were being taken to the gallows.

The Nazis came for the communists and
he kept silent because he was not a communist. They then came for the
Jews and he kept silent because he was not a Jew. They next came for
the Trade Unionists and he kept silent because he was not a Trade
Unionist. Next they came for the Cat
holics and he kept silent because
    he was not a Catholic.

When they came for him, there was no
one to talk for him. And this is the prescription this lawyer is
giving Kenyans; that in exchange of trade and commerce, we can let
    Migingo go.

And this is a lawyer arguing so
stupidly. No. We must not cede any inch of our land to anybody on the
strength of trade and commerce. I would rather we uproot the rail
to Uganda and dig trenches on the road to Uganda so that we reclaim
our rock. I would rather I die hungry than to appease Museveni
over what Mwangi calls a peace of rock.

That peace of rock is Kenyan rock and
    nobody must claim it.

If that rock is so worthless, why is
Museveni so desperate for it? Can this lawyer think about this? And
by the way, why is the Daily Nation giving this kind of thinking such
prominence? Is it meant to spite the people around Lake Victoria?

Does the Nation Media Group envisage
that this kind of reporting can be taken as being hostile to the
people and that it can affect its sales in the whole country? It is
    an affront to our sovereignty.

Dear People, you are mistaken. You have forgotten that Mr. Kibaki was not duly elected the President of Kenya. He is therefore under no obligation to protect the Country’s sovereignity. The sooner we organize fresh elections the better. You do not expect an election thief to guard you poor people.

I’m sorry for Zimbabweans too, a similar mistake is being committed.

    Hi East Africans

Most of you have written very passionately about Migingo. However non of you has geographic mappings and proof that this is Kenyan land.

Yes Kenyans have inhabited it for years but that does not make it Kenyan. This is Island has always been administered by the Ugandan government, hence the Ugandan police and Flag posted there.

I can see this is largely a Luo VS Kikuyu fight in which Uganda has been dragged.

If I may ask before we get worked up over Migingo how have our leaders helped us benefit from the resources held in our areas which are not under dispute?

The geographical survey is going to show that this is Ugandan land and am telling you that this wont mean the end of the LUO tribes in both countries.

Kenyans hold most of the top corporate jobs in Uganda and has very big investments here. Individual Kenyans lands bigger than Migingo here in Uganda and no one is taking that away.

There is going to be no war between the two countries. I would advise that we live in peace and develope our region. Any one calling for war must be mad and should be warned that war has never been a problem where i come from.
