Kenya: Poverty, corruption, unemployment rise in Kenya

from Judy Miriga

Folks,

To reply to Paul Nyandoto, this is what I have to say. Paul must understand that Raila is a sleek master planner who knows how to intimidate and deprive people from their rights more specifically his targets are greater people of Luo Nyanza. He wants to be a King amongst the poor of the poor so he can control Luo Nyanza Wealth……….that Raila enjoys seing people suffering engulfed with poverty all around………You can imagine what type of a man this Raila is……….I dont know how Nyangau can be defined, but I know Raila can be the worse leader ever known in the world. In comparison, people who keep animals love their animals and treat them better and fair, except Raila to fellow Luos. Raila’s actions amounts to Slavery which require more and deeper investigation, when his business network and activities are fully dug and exposed.

Signs of times are here with us as we watch PM Raila and Miguna Miguna saga in drama.

We cannot look yonder while answers of corruption and incompetency is right before our nose…….It is not just Miguna Miginua, Raila’s problem with Luos is larger than what people know on the surface. PM Raila is destroying, exterminating and extinguishing the whole of Luo Community in slow death bead pushing them in deeper poverty situation using his unscrupulous business connection and network interest. This begs for more scrutiny of clinical surgery in the matter.

Poverty in Africa is not as a result of Population growth, but are as a result of poor planning with bad African Government Leadership. Marginalization, Power and Control, Corruption, Graft and Impunity is the killer of African Sustainable Development. It is a pathetic system that puts wealth in a few pockets of friends with their agents, leaving the majority with no employment or means for survival. It is as a result of corrupting public resources and diverting them to personal and family with closely nit friends of politically correct. Poverty, Draught and Hunger did not suddenly come into existence, but was systematically organized by corrupt unscrupulous politicians. This is the reason why an overhaul change must take effect in Kenya to disorganize their network and connections.

Miguna is a victim who has been devoured by Raila scheme of man eat man society. We are not going to let Miguna Miguna employment case scenario to die in thin air or go wishy washy………This is how Raila finishes his prey………I am going to dig deeper than Miguna episode and bring more that to the surface……..It is because these are signs of things to come and we cannot afford to keep quite……… desparate circumstances need desparate measures and urgent actions………and what has become of the brutal murder of young upcoming Gospel Musician, the Obama Boy………This cannot wait……….

What has PM Raila as elected leader done to uplift public life over the years with the Constituency Funds for Kibera……He now want to transfer the look of Kibera problem to Luo Nyanza where he is engaged in taking away and Owning Agro Chemical Molasses Plant through the Odinga family, the Yala Swamp and Dominion Farm benefiting the Odinga’s, Muhoroni Sugar is closed down because Kibos Sugar Company was made to eat Muhoroni out of business. Killing the Community Public potential of Muhoroni where a conspiracy of about 900 million small peasant farmers were denied bonuses, later business were transferred to Kibos with the help of some unscrupulous Asian/Indian Businessman lobbyist……Today, Muhoroni Sugar factory remained closed since Kibos factory became operational. What about business going on in Lake Victoria Fishing, Migingo, Osienala, Oluch Kimira, who is benefiting……….why do PM Raila and wife own land extension in South Nyanza at Uriri??? Why is he expanding from Siaya…….Is it a coincidence or he is an expansionist like Museveni, no wonder they have lots in common……….he is equally engaging in River Nile business activities through Minister of Ministry of Water Charity Ngilu, the reason he is protecting her over claims of corruption……….what about Diamond in Odino Falls……….the Granite & Hydro electric power plant in Kisii …….. are these public community resources or personal family wealth…….??? Who is PM Raila fooling……..He is definitely in politics not to serve public but has personal and family interest with those of his cohort, the cartels of the unscrupulous International Special Interest…………Nothing happens without a reason….

This is the reason PM Raila and Kibaki do not want to implement the New Constitution as is…..the reason he sneaks behind others and he truely does not want Devolution of power to be handed over to public…….He is an expansionist trying to accumulate public wealth to himself and his family……He has colluded, connived and conspired to defraud public whom they took oath to serve faithfully and protect………the reason why Anglo Leasing, Goldenberg with other cases as was endorsed in Akiwumi Reports cannot be resolved. We demand for justice………..we want problem of poverty, corruption, impunity, graft with other crime and violation of Human Rights documented and put in public for all to see, we want statements of facts how donor funds have been utilized in funding these programs, we want to know who benefited and who did not and why…….!!!

We want to know who is responsible and or participated in colluding and/or conspired for Human loses, pain and sufferings driving poverty in Kenya as well as Congo, Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda and South Sudan; Without which, the country is falling into anarchy, and we will not sit back and watch.

The Miguna Miguna factor is just a tip of an iceberg……..You cannot put a lion to watch over a goat or a lamb, knowing so well that, before you know it, the goat and lamb will have been consumed. These are problems we must fix to avoid repetition of the same from any quarters if our destiny, future for our children mean anything to us.

We want investigation to give report on who is eating what and from where, who is responsible for the poverty explosion in Kenya and generally in Africa……specifically so
when funds were made available. Where has these funds disappeared to. These are public taxpayer money and we demand for answers.

We demand for IIRR’s environmental audit account to be made public …………Funds that were made available for Disaster Risk Reduction which was meant and supposed to be under Community management in Kenya……..This is because……..Large scale hazard is expected to hit a highly vulnerable community with law capacity to cope with the disaster and Funds were equally made available, we demand for reports how funds were disbursed to reduce vulnerabilities through popular development Action Plan to avoid the effect of the disaster. These funds were made available for Lake Victoria and Indian Ociean.

Diaspora is not just a name that can be contained in an enclosure, it Represents Broader Diversity of Opinion with critical thinking that are necessary to provide solution in such cases as these. When Kenya Government begins to engage, the doors are open to all without discrimination, and once the doors are open, they cannot be closed. We will engage and demand for fact finding justified transparency and accountability, and this is what I demand for, expecting an early response.

I want msema kweli, I want an immediate investigation with documented facts how all
these public Taxpayer & Natural resources, Minerals, Gold and Diamond, utilities, facilities, land, with other information of investment policies.

We demand for facts of Business Opportunities that were funded for Youth program, “Kazi Kwa Vijana”, Micro Finance Credit for the poor to start small business through individual skills and local NGOs, Education Funding with other Social income generating funds from Millennium Development Funds meant to curb risks in Africa.

How and where did the coalition Government get money in billions to pay for lobbyist to clean image of Kenya abroad, leaving the local poor to die from hunger and poverty….if taxpayer money was not unconstitutionally short-changed or corrupted………where do they get all the money carelessly spent and paid for Ministers and Permanent Secretaries to Hoover around overseas in matters of insignificant that can be resolved through a phone call away……….can these funds be accounted for……??? How could Kalonzo Musyoka put up a multi-billion housing if it is not public money mismanaged and utilized while the poor are dying from poverty and draught…..where is the justification..?

I hope to hear early and urgent response from the Authorities or Agents or otherwise.

With this kind of concern, we demand that the UN, Leaders of the World, World Bank, IMF, IFAD, the African Development Bank with other COMESA, ECOSOC, with other related International Financial Institutions, as well as Friends and Sympathizers, we appeal that funds should not be disbursed to Kenya before the above facts are made public so Diaspora can get fully committed to the realistic cause of sustainable Partnership engagement in Africa. The engagement must be supported by constitutional policy where measurable results are used to manage successful development programs without being shortchanged or corrupted by politically correct personalities.

This is a situation if not watched carefully and resolved urgently, have reached a tipping point, a situation which can easily spiral out of control just like situation in Somalia. Many people are angry and frustrated to the limit from excessive pain and sufferings………people already know their sufferings are created by Politicians crave for Control and Power, while these unscrupulous leaders are busy engaging in multiplier of more schemes to take away and destroy the society.

Time has come that things must be done differently to save a bad situation gone nuts…..

Youth unemployment and politics

The home coming rally for the Hague 6 might have turned out to be a battle of who has many supporters between the ODM and the PNU party
But as politicians continue to weigh their strengths in terms of attendance at rallies, one nagging issue is often swept under the carpet, unemployment.
The Uhuru Park rally , held on a weekday was perhaps a success according to organizers but also served as a stark reminder of the serious unemployment especially among the youth.

This is a worldwide phenomena from the hittistes in Tunisia to the shabab atileen in Egypt, the NEETS in the UK, freeters in Japan… Unemployed youths with no hope for the future. Kenya and SS-Africa by extension seems to? suffer a chronic case of this due to corruption and arrested economic development (Businessweek Feb 2011). Something’s got to give and I hope that our dear anointed leaders are shopping for exile locations.

Hidden Hunger in Kenya Part 1

Uploaded by HiddenHungerKE on Sep 20, 2011
Millicent Mukinda’s story in the Korogocho slum is a living example of the impact of high food prices on the lives of the urban poor in Kenya. Soaring food prices and unemployment has made basic needs beyond the reach of many urban poor in Kenya. Something needs to be done if children like Millicent are to survive.

The Unemployment Time Bomb

Uploaded by kenyacitizentv on Apr 18, 2011
The unbearable costs of living have cast a gloomy cloud on the times ahead for the population whose incomes remain largely unchanged. But the situation is even grimmer for the thousands of others who have no source of income to rely on. Statistics indicate that 45 % of the Kenyan population remains unemployed, with these numbers expected to hit even more highs. Faced with a dilemma of an idle population, Kenya could be sitting on a time bomb, if the situation remains unaddressed.

Poverty, corruption, unemployment rise in Kenya

Kenyas vulnerability to the global crisis is primarily due to inherent domestic factors such as years of poor infrastructure investment, rampant corruption, government profligacy, and the high cost of doing business in the region among a litany of ills hampering the countrys ability to mitigate the effects of the crisis. Poverty levels are also bound to rise as lack of employment continues to bite; thousands might also lose jobs as foreign firms contemplate of closing down due to the recession that has affected their operations. Those living in rural areas are the most affected as the country faces famine due to inadequate rainfall in the last 2 years since they solely depend on their farm products for upkeep.

Kibera is located in Nairobi, Kenya. Kibera is known as an illegal settlement, and is therefore not included in Nairobi’s public services. Over 1 million people are not receiving the healthcare, schools, city cleanup, adequate restrooms, etc., because they are part of an “illegal settlement.”

People in Kibera live in 12ftx12ft homes. These homes house up to 8 people or more. At any one time, 50% of all women 16-25 years old living in Kibera are pregnant. Most of these pregnancies are unwanted, resulting in abortions, but not in clinics of course.

Here are some websites you can visit and donate to to help the people of Kibera.

I have had a walking tour with Peter – the person who lead the filming crew in the movie Constant Gardener. There are more than 1 million people living in this area.

I just visited the Kibera Slums last fall and if there are only 130,000 people there, there must be lots of empty houses. I have also read that there is no accurate way to determine how many people? live in this slum. I just know my movies of the slums show no end in sight no matter which way I looked. I visited one mother who has 10 people sleeping in her house. She washes water cans to make some money. Her house is about the size of my living room.

The best advice I would give to my fellow Luo youths is :”if you have a piece of land anywhere in Nyanza, go back there and take care of it before it is confisticated”,

The elites in power are computerizing land title deeds in order to settle the loans they took from WORLD BANK, IMF and othe foreign lenders. They have converted these loans to personal use with nothing left to show the citizens! There is tax-based land grabs are in the works by these elites to settle these massive foreign they took in the name of developments that never took off the ground! Now they are prepared to confisticate peoples’ land titles to pay for the loans!! Run and secure your land if you have any!!!!!
