The Auburn Police Division is investigating a Thursday morning accident involving two tractor trailer trucks that left one driver dead and another with life threatening injuries, according to Auburn Police Division Assistant Chief Tommy Dawson.
At 3:15 a.m., Auburn police responded to an accident on Interstate 85 near the 57 mile marker where they found a tractor trailer stopped on the shoulder of the southbound lanes that had been struck by a second tractor-trailer traveling in the same direction.
Timothy N. Muraguri, 42, of Acworth, Ga., outside the rig at the time of the collision, was killed instantly according to Lee County Chief Deputy Coroner Gene Manning. Muraguri was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:30 a.m. of blunt force injuries.
The female driver of the second tractor-trailer, whose name has not been released, was transported to East Alabama Medical Center and later to UAB Hospital in Birmingham with critical injuries. She was listed in critical but stable condition.
Muraguri’s truck had broken down and he had pulled to the side of the interstate but was unable to get his truck completely out of the roadway when another southbound tractor-trailer struck his semi from behind while he was partially in the roadway, killing him according to a coroner’s report.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the incident, according to Lee County Coroner Bill Harris in a statement.
The accident closed down the southbound lanes of Interstate 85 and caused traffic to be diverted until 9:30 a.m.

Hello sir/madam,
Hello am George founder of slum child foundation children center, the center support children in different ways and among them orphans.
These children i am supporting are the one i rescued in korogocho slums during the kenya 2007 post election violence i landed in the hands of the murderers for the sake of the children. i collected others infront of the bodies of their parents who were slaughtered infront of their eyes, i managed to go through even to the battle field and i rescued a 3 months baby who was left beside the body her dead mum.
This center is situated just some meters way from the battle field to at as a memorial center and a peace and mediating center.
I fund raise to support these children by making a appeal to students, teachers, lecturers welwishers, families and anybody who may be of support to these children to just donate just one dollar or more to these children who i support in the slum, a dollar may seem to be a small amount of money but to these children in the slum it can and will do a lot to them.
so am appealing to the students, mrmbers of staffs and anybody who sees that is of so much help to donate to us just a dollar or more and it will make a great difference in the faces of these children from the slum.
remember a dollar can provide two meals, shoes, trouser, shirt ,a skirt, a blouse, a pair of sandles, a ball can provide them with a good accomodation and many more but just to mention a few.
Thank you in advance as i hope to hear from even prayers and advices will keep me encouraged and boost my morale to continue helping these blessings from God who are now victims of what they did not do.
thank you for taking our request into consideration and we hope you will get back to us. receive greetings from our children in our center please find some pictures from us.
