Local leaders in Karachuonyo constituency, Rachuonyo District are up in arms with Mawego Girls Principal Janet Kasuku for running the school with high handedness.
During a well attended funds drive in aid of St. Martin Oluti Secondary School in Kobuya Mawego, Hippo Komutho who is one of the Board of Governors members (BOG) appealed to the government to immediately intervene and transfer the “under performing principal “ to avert the looming crisis in the school.
Komutho attributed the recent riot by the students to “overwhelming pride and arrogance” from the principal who he alleged is doing things single handedly without consulting board members and other stake holders.
Kasuku is alleged to have hired the services of groundsmen as cooks to the chagrin of students who nearly torched the school, but quick intervention from villagers salvaged the day.
“It worth noting that it’s due to the attitude by this principal which has made us to unceremoniously exit from the board”, Komutho noted.
Agalaxy of board members including the chairman of the board who is also Marie stoppes country Director Cyprian Awiti recently quit their positions on grounds said to be related to how the principal has been managing the school.
When he took the podium during the harambee, the Director however down played the prevailing acrimony and tension between the warring parties.
A whopping Kshs. 1.6 million was raised for the construction of Oluti Secondary school classrooms and administration blocks.
Awiti gave a personal donation of Kshs. 200,000; Komutho Kshs. 100,000, Mumias sugar Managing Director Evans Kidero Kshs. 30,000 among others.

Subject: MAWEGO GIRLS PRINCIPAL UNDER FIRE
I went to Mawego Girls from the year 2001 to 2004.
During my first year, the school was a mess, there was no water, no electricity, save for a generator which only served the upper classes ( form three and four) we used tin lamps and candles to study, the food was terrible, the perfomance was bad. ( the top student in the KCSE had a C (plus).
In my second year, end of first term, the then principle, Mrs. Andelle was transfered and in came Mrs. Kasuku.
Tin lamps were the first to go, then a new generator was put in place. it served not on;y, all the classes but, the dinning hall the dormitories we even had `street lamps. She arranged for the students to fetch water from the nearby church`s boreholes. Everything improved. perfomance, sports, diet. In my last year, we even got a bus.
Mrs. Kasuku had a vision for Mawego Girls, and for the short period that she was there, she managed to do alot more than the principles before her.
I suport Mrs. Kasuku and i know, that Dede Girls will benefit alot.
I thought Jeff could do better than that. However, this is something that happened way back and it should be rested at that.
I went to Mawego Girls from 2005-2007. And Believe me these people are just arrogant men who feared Mrs Kasuku because she was an IRON LADY. The school performance actually improved since she got. She emphasized a lot on Education especially passing the exams.
GO MRS KASUKU, I KNOW U R THE BEST THEIR IS!

The principal in question is a perfomer…right now in a Kisumu school doing so well educatiowise and in terms of development….she is also a lecturer at Bondo university….homabay is loosing brains due to stupid local politics to people who think they are demigods……
MRS. KASUKU IS PERFORMING BEST AT OGADA HIGH WHERE I’M THE PRESIDENT. WE NOW HAVE A SCHOOL BUS, OUR PARENTS CAN NOW MAKE A COMMITMENT BECAUSE THE PRINCIPAL IS MORE THAN UNDERSTANDING & AMONG MANY MORE THINGS THAT SHE IS DOING. #STOP LITTLE POLITICS. MOST OF PEOPLE WHO WERE COMPLAINING AND MAKING NOISE ABOUT KASUKU ARE NOW POLITICAL LEADERS. WHY CAN’T THEY WORK THE WAY THEY WANTED KASUKU TO PERFORM? I SUPPORT YOUR WORK MDM. NOBODY CAN APPRICIATE YOUR WORK WHILE STILL WORKING. CONTINUE DOING YOUR WORK AS THOS TOOTHLESS DOGS THAT CAN DO YOU NOTHING CONTINUE TO BARK.
