Subject: The Invasion of Migingo by the Museveni’s Uganda Government

Folks,

Does this mean the Coalition Government of Kenya gave Museveni full right to own Migingo? How can Uganda Administration take security charge on Migingo? Is Migingo Ugandan property or Kenyan? How can the Coalition Government just watch when its Citizens are being bullied by the Ugandan Government on Kenyan land? and How can the Uganda Security Armed Forces take control of Migingo a Kenyan property without the Coalition Government saying anything or stepping in? Why are the Migingo Fishermen facing such brutality and frustrations in the hands of Ugandan Army when Kenyan army is just watching? Do the Public have the right to sue the Coalitiong Government for not providing the required security? Is there security in Kenya? Does the Coalition Government concerned about providing services including the security to the electorates or not? What can the Citizens of Kenya read between the lines from this kind of action? Are the Armed Forces in Kenya aware such things are happening to Kenyans in Migingo? Why has the Security not been dispatched to Migingo to protect Kenyan Fishermen there? Arent the Fishermen paying taxes to Kenya Government? What is the Parliament saying about all these? Where are the Civil Society and the Human Rights activists in Kenya and what do they have to say about this kind of action by Uganda Government invasion? Does the fishermen of Migingo have the right to sue the Coalition Government for not protecting their livelihood and business in Migingo, yet they pay taxes for their securities and safety? What are the consequences of an illigal invasion to a privacy?

Why has the Kenyan MPs decided to be quite about Migingo invasion?

Why are they throwing cold water on it when peoples lives and businesses for their livelihood is being threatened by the outside forces? Is this a game of Thieving by Public Office, that Public property is sold under table dubiously by the Coalition Government to Museveni? Does the Public have the right to question and to know who the ownership of Migingo is presently, the reason why Kenya Coalition Government is aloof about Migingo? Is Public interest a private affair? Is there a plan for underground mercenery Mafia take over of Migingo as well as other public property being swindled by the Coalition Government? Can the Civil Society, Faith Based, NGOs, Men and Women stand up and protect that which is being stolen from them and make noise? Can they DEMAND for an answer?

People you must not keep quite when your Destiny is corrupted. Even if it is one inch, fight for it, it is your right……no one should take you for granted because you are poor, it is the same politicians who have put you to a sorry situation of poverty you are in today. Go to the bottom of the matter and know the truth, this is because the Word of God says, it is the Truth that shall set you free…….Do not take Gods word for granted people.

The World is Watching……

Take Action……..

Ugandans watch over Migingo tally

By Standard Team

Residents of Migingo Island were counted amid tight security by Uganda police.

Two enumerators, accompanied by two elders, moved door to door on the one-acre island under the watchful eye of Ugandan security officers.

Speaking from the disputed island, chairman of the local Beach Management Unit Juma Ombori said the exercise began well.

He, however, cited the absence of most fishermen from their residences as a major challenge.

“Many fishermen were on the lake at night,” he said adding this forced enumerators to carry on with the exercise Tuesday and Wednesday.

The four, together with a supervisor, arrived on the island on Monday morning and are expected to leave when counting ends on August 31.

Meanwhile, in Migori, heavy rains and lack of adequate census materials affected the exercise. A survey by The Standard showed most residents were yet to encounter the enumerators after the first night. Of 23 residents interviewed, only six had been counted.

“We waited until midnight before giving up,” said Mr William Mandela, a resident.

And contrary to the directive that clubs be shut from 6pm to 10pm, clubs in Migori had a field day, operating throughout the night.

Official word

Bar owners claimed they were yet to get official communication from the Government on the directive to close early.

Elsewhere, US President’s step-grandmother Sarah Obama was among the first to be counted in Siaya District.

Mama Sarah was counted at her Kogelo home.

She praised the exercise and urged fellow villagers to take part in the census.

Supervisor Fransisca Aluoch and enumerator Dora Odhiambo counted Mama Sarah, 89, at 6pm on Monday night. She was asked questions such as the number of livestock she owns and whether she uses firewood or any other type of cooking fuel.

Elsewhere, census failed to take off at Osieko beach on Lake Victoria after enumerators from Bondo and Budalang’i districts clashed over who would conduct the exercise.

Bondo DC Mohamud Salim and local statistical officer John Asudi had to rush to the area yesterday morning to sort out the dispute.

In Rarieda District, counting at Magare Island was completed early in the morning as two enumerators and a supervisor spent the whole night on the tiny island.

There is nothing wrong with Africans colonizing Africans. At least Kenyans in Migingo Island may be better off under uganda regime…they will get free bananas for break first!. What is the value of fishermen unless they are related to coalition leaders in this government!. You may want to goggle some of the statements that have been made by these politicians since Migingo began some times ago. …Migingo is only a rock NOT worth fighting for…Kenya will NOT go to war over a rock…. Migingo is map makers problem,..Migingo Island is NOT worth going to war to sacrifiy trade with Uganda”. These are some of the statements that have been made by Kenya military and politicians.

Don’t get disappointed if the questions you are asking here go unanswered. My heart goes out to Kenya public who are led by corrupt/greedy politicians who cannot feed their country fellow men/women. So long as Nairobi is not under Uganda occupation these politicians will NOT give rat ass to protect remote areas like Migingo Island.

I am not sure but I think Kenya for the most part is divided among tribal lines. May be the uncircumcised Luo men /women MPS should borrow play book from Rift Valley MPS in defying Central government from removing their people from Mau forest lands. If “Agwambo” the PM can issue directives to remove or NOT to remove people from Mau forest why can’t he issue the same diretives to Uganda Musevini troops to leave Migingo Island????. There is nothing the public can do to stop Uganda from occupying Migingo Island. Public demonstration will land this people in uganda jails and to their deaths. If Ruto can lead his tribal MPS to protect their people from eviction from Mau forest why can’t Rahila do the same to lead Luo MPS to protect Luos in Migingo Island.????.

The chances of President Kibaki taking Migingo occupation by Uganda seriously is almost zero!. Lastly coalition government have no interest in protecting Kenya territories unless their payroll and hefitty benefits are threatened by foreign occupation.

To Miss. Judy, you should direct your letter and energy on Migingo issue to your stupid/coward Luo MPS to address Migingo Island to their people!

  2. tumwijuke

Are you honestly still going on about this?

It is just a small, dirty rock. I’ve been there – not once, twice! I say it should be blown up and obliterated from the map. I’m sure you are responsible, right-thinking human, but the Migingo debate is exasperatingly stupid.

” To Miss. Judy, you should direct your letter and energy on Migingo issue to your stupid/coward Luo MPS to address Migingo Island to their people! ”

Come on Mr. JD! You are thrashing a good point of your argument. Please no Bad mouthing. Judy does not own the Luo MPs. Those MPs represent the issues for all 42 Kenyan tribes.

So let us have a civil discourse.

Thanks Judy you are raising very important issues.

To An..observer, …sorry if you missed my sarcasm!…”stupid Luos” was meant ingest to call them out to defend people of their region in this dispute!. Also the “uncircumcised” Luos was meant to remind them bout the reasons were be given during last election that Luos cannot be elected president because of this reason!. I hope you will understand where this post was coming from .

To whatever your name is “tumwijuke” I don’t have the name of cave yo have been living in! You can do us this country big favor by crawling back and only come out after Migingo dispute has been solved. By the way it seems like you know a lot about rocks..you can be great hostess for Uganda soldiers occupying Migingo Island now!!!.

What was your purpose of being on Migingo Island?.or you just making things up?. To you and your moron cohorts, Migingo Island may be dirty rock!, To Kenyans, this Island is apart of their territory that must be protected under the international law. It is painful to let you know how your arguments on this issue don’t make sense. You are intellectually challenged in your arguments. When Uganda is claiming this Island to be theirs, are you suggesting they should blow it up????. For your information, Kenya government is spending millions of shillings in joint survey as we speak ,..are you saying the same government should blow it up because “it is dirty rock”? I wish you could come up with plausible reasons to back up your arguments but I know this is asking too much from some one of limited knowledge caliber like you.

Kenya has facts on their side in Migingo Island dispute with Uganda. When the dust settle .. too bad and feel free to crawl back to your cave where logical arguments are of no value to issues dealing with territorial integrity. Just to annoy you, will not silent any post on Migingo dispute with Uganda and for you to bataken seriously by the readers of this blog, you must come up with something stronger than ” dirty rock, stupid, blown Up”!

    On MIGINGO:

Tumwijuke or whatever your name .. your is not worth a reply!

JD Brown we appreciate the sacarcism and i see you grasp the issues here.

An Observer, me thinks you are shallow on this one ( maybe tribal i dont know) coz this Island happens to be in Kenyan territory so its not a Luo-MP-only matter.

Judy Miriga, youre obviously a concerned and patriotic Kenyan. But heres my two cents on this one.
    1. You address the GNG ( coalition) gov., fair, but realize that even though its coalition on paper its security forces are still PNU. No matter how much the PM or Luo MPs will shout or cry nothing will happen. And by the way they have done both and its on record. Even other patriotic MPs Kalwales. Ababus, Wamalwas have been outspoken. NOTHING will move unless the occupants of the big house of state decide that its worthwhile. These are the products of a not-evenly distributed cabinet. The price is being paid!
    2. Me thinks a deal was cut over this island between the two houses of state. Or the bully-Museveni is doing what he is best at, intimidating a community or person that he feels is a future threat. Remember that his hands has been full with the cousins ie Kony. Also he is aware that the occupants of our house on the hill has no balls.
    3. so i think the reaction of those whom you address MPs and their people is the most logical. IGNORE him ( Museveni) maybe until 2012 hoping that there will be change of guard and that forces could be sent there forthwith then to secure and reassure the rightful owners. That or pray that the is a commited change of heart from the occupants of the house. Dont keep your hopes high on that one. For now we may end up wasting our breath and energy yet we have more pressing matters… REFORM!

  6. An Observer

Rindi, You missed my point, I was quoting Mr. JD. Read my comment once again. Tribal is not part of it. I disagreed with Respectable JD!

    An Observer

  7. JD Brown

    Mr. An Observer:
I don’t think any body is going tribal on you on Mgingo Island article post. I have made clear the gist of my article and if you can’t get it, we will agree to disagaree on this one. I don’t have “a dog in this fight” my interest in Africa affairs are personal and academic in nature. I was not attacking Miss Judy instead I was directing her to get attention of representatives from this region on this matter..what is tribal about this!. In your nose, I gave you an example of “Rift Valley MPS” meeting with Mr. Kibaki over Mau forest issue…this is the same spirit I was point Miss Judy to demand from Luos MPS to try to do the same for the interest on their people in this region.

You might have missed many articles I have written on Migingo dispute with Uganda, if you have the time research them and you will find them objective and nothing tribal about them. Again, Please, accept my apology for misunderstanding my point on this issue. Migingo Island is Kenya problem NOT Luo problem!. You will find out that Kenya national interest on Migingo Island has been made by many bloggers on this site. Other MPS from non lake regions like : Kalwale, Ababus and Wamalwa well mentioned by Rindi were also given credits on this issue in previous articles by other bloggers. I assume all of us.. you included believe the facts on Migingo Island that it is Kenyan territory and what we are quibling about is how to get Uganda out of this Island!… and there is nothing wrong debating and having different opinions to achieve this common objective!..Peace!

  8. Rindi

    On MIGINGO:

To An OBSERVER, i may have missed your point there, my appology.

To JD BROWN, here are just a few points that i wanted to mention but didnt.

    1. I have followed keenly the unfolding issues over the MIGINGO and for a fact the PM has tried twice to seek audience with M-Seven without success. If there is one person M-Seven will not give direct audience ( probably out of fear of issues that will be dealt with) its the PM. So none can say he does care about the island. Also being the PM protocal limits the extent that he can mobilize the locals to mass action against a foreign head of state and neighbor, as some have suggested.

    2. A comparison was made that the PM should take cue from Ruto and “fight for his people” the way Ruto is doing one the Mau. Well, well, well. Me thinks many have not understood Ruto. i mean the real Ruto. This man is fighting for his life, his survival politically. NOT FOR ANY KALENJIN sorry! On the one hand there is the Tribunal threat as a result of the PEV and on the other his future prospect within ODM seeing that currently he is # 3 in the pecking order. And in his desperation he is fumbling left , right and center. Keep watch on this man as matters evolve. But please dont give us that crap about him fighting for the mwananchi. These are the cabals who grapped all sorts of land all over the place under the tutillage of one “professor of politics”. And of course like any other politician he is ambitious and have no problem with that. But many of us have a problem with what he is doing within ODM currently.

    Rindi

  9. JD Brown

    Mr. Rindi:
Thank you for your insight on the big picture!…these issues are complicated!!. I appreciate your local knowledge on Mr. Ruto..I wait to hear some more from you.
