KENYA: A KISUMU WOMAN NOW ALLEGES THAT RAILA ODINGA’S YOUNGER BROTHER HAD CONNED HER A COLOSSAL AMOUNT OF MONEY BY PROMISING EMPLOYMENT CHANCES FOR HER TWO COUSINS.

Report by a Special Correspondent.

A Kisumu a young woman has made startling allegation how she had been conned a large sums of money by the younger brother of the Prime Minister Raila Odinga on understanding tat he was to offer her two cousins the employment opportunities in the Kisumu Muncipal Council.

Isaack Omondi Oginga, the younger step brother of Raila Odinga is an elected civic leader in the Council representing the posh Milimani Ward.

Whereas Ms Eunice Atieno is an employee of the Council attached at the Lumumba Health Center where she I working as a laboratory technician.

Accompanied by that Kisumu County ODM branch chairman Dave Okwatch, Eunice narrated ho the transaction took place sometime in April lat year. A friend of the civic leader working with a commercial bank in the town had introduced her to the Councilor. The same bank worker helped her to secure a bank loan after the Councilor had agreed to employ two of her siblings.

The deal did not materialize and the councilor has since been avoiding her not even to answer her phone calls. At one time she alleged that the Councilor had sent her a stern warning threatening her that he would ensure he is put to jail for scandalizing his name.

Contacted Coun. Omondi Oginga readily admitted having received the money from the young lady. He said the Council had offered each civic leader two chances for employment. But the matter came during the campaign for the re-election of the mayor. He was allied to the group that was vehemently opposed to the mayor’s re-election. As a result the two chances allocated to members of his group were withdrawn at the behest of the Mayor’s instructions.

It was during this time, Omondi Oinga said, when one of his colleagues who told him he had nobody to front for employment, but would be willing to dispose the two chances offered to him on payment of certain amount of money.

It was due to this that he took cash money from Eunice and handed it to his colleague, who, however, did not honor the deal after receiving the money. He said more chances are on the offing and when the opportunity comes, he would ensure that the two of Eunice Atieno’s cousin are considered for employment and pleaded with the young woman to be patient and wait.

In tentative demand letter written April 12, 2012, Eunice wrote. I have given you a seven days notice to pay back the money. This follows my several attempt of calling you on phone to negotiate over the same, but you have always failed to answer my phones calls.

“I borrowed that money as a loan from a bank and you agreed to offer me two chances of employment in exchange of the same amount.”

The promise of employment is gone yet still you do hold on my money and I am repaying the bank loan so dearly that I cannot even be able to meet my daily basic needs. It’s my prayer that the law should favor me in my effort to get my money back,” says Eunice in the hand-written letter whose copy is safe in our hand.

Coun Omondi Odinga the estranged step brother of Raila Odinga who of late has been flirting with the G7 group of politician allied to the DPM Uhuru Kenyatta and the Eldoret North Mp William Ruto told this writer that he loves t tell the truth and therefore he cannot deny having received the money, but wanted the young woman to give him time so that her problem would be sorted out soon.

But Eunce Atieno said he had waited for the matter to be resolved for too long and as a result had chosen to go public.

This person is not worth being elected to any leadership in kenya. He is material for
prison which should be along sentence.

  2. Otondi

After listening to the allegations above I strongly recommend that , the parties involved to be arrested immediately and put in jail. They are the people who are encouraging impunity in this country. How could you take a loan to bribe for a job!, that job is yours if you did qualify for it, if all positions are to be bribed in order to be employed, then how about the poor who may not be able to take a loan from the bank where will they go?
