Dear Sir/Madam,
In the words of John Adams, “facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, or our inclination or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” I cannot agree more with these words of wisdom. For sometime the country has expressed outrage at the idea of some self seeking politicians crafting ethnic alliances to propel them to the helm of the country`s political leadership. Every other time the said political leaders vehemently denied it. But if one cared to scratch up on their rhetoric one would surely see the blatant insult of betrayal of our common good as a country. If you ever had doubted this then the Mau evictions saga lends credence to these banality.
It behooves the intelligence of many that despite the Government, the civil society and the mainstream media explaining with intermittent patience the catastrophic effect of not conserving the country`s largest water tower there are those who are playing politics with the country`s lifeline. This continued malfeasance and dishonesty is a stark testament of politicians bereft of any iota of morality. That is why they have ganged up to construct a reality based on lies. In fact, tale tellers have it that they are even ferrying people from elsewhere to camp on the fringes of the Mau to give an impression to the whole world of the worst form of a government sponsored humanitarian crisis. And from the look of things they are really riding high on a carefully orchestrated political roller-coaster.
Even though they have constantly had their snouts bashed by the right thinking public they are not just ready to give up their deceit. They are the men and women of “great common sense and good taste.” They are not so much interested in being on the right side of history but would rather let opportunism drive them to boring ordinariness in their quest to ascend to the helm of the country`s political leadership in 2012. You have witnessed them snuggle in the guise of a fundraiser. And I also hear that that there are a series of rallies lined up just to denounce the evictions and to slander and vilify their perceived political nemesis. Going back to the fundraiser, I must not hesitate to point out that there is nothing wrong in organizing for a fundraiser to help genuine evictees. However, there is everything wrong in using the fundraiser as a perfect smokescreen for the launching of a neo Ku Klux Klan (commonly referred to as triple K alliance).
Much as I am encouraged by their sudden bout of philanthropy, I am still struggling very hard to understand why majority of the organizers of this fundraiser never shed a single tear for the victims of the Post Election Violence who are to date landless and homeless. Didn`t they not have children, women and the octogenarians sleeping in the biting cold? Didn`t organizers of this fundraiser demand for humane treatment of the IDPs as they are now doing for the Mau Complex illegal settlers? The Mau evictees and the IDPs aside, do these politicians give a hoot to the startling statistics of the landless and homeless in all the four corners of Kenya? Not even a cent has ever been extended to them. Did I hear someone shout subterfuge?
It is the duty of the mainstream media to make these facts stubborn. The media must continually air drop these facts in the current stream of the public`s conscience. Never must the public be oblivious to the history of the degazetment and systematic excision of the Mau complex and the political machination behind the importation of a human shield to protect the politically correct land lords of the Mau complex. If anything it is the yesterday`s oligarchy that must be prosecuted and forced to compensate the illegal settlers of the Mau. It is time they stopped politicking and faced the reality.
Most importantly, the intensifying rhetoric on the Mau eviction exercise must cease. This is because it does not bode well with the post election violence (PEV) conciliatory climate especially in the expansive Rift Valley region. In this rhetoric is a veneer of retaliatory attacks aimed at purging of the Rift Valley off “other ethnic communities.” They want to once more rouse the dreaded monster of negative ethnicity. Political leaders must understand that fear mongering in the guise of political supremacy battles is far from being patriotic.
If they really want the public to believe that parliament and cabinet had agreed on compensating or giving alternative land to the illegal settlers, then, why not urgently convene a cabinet meeting and thrush out misunderstandings on the eviction exercise rather than engage in the protracted poisonous rhetoric? As for the MPs, isn`t the floor of the August House where they are supposed to put the government to task for reneging on such a substantive agreement? Or are they permanently incapable of making sense on the floor of the House? I suspect that the reason why these politicians do not want to engage in reasonable discourses on the floor of the August House is because they know that they are simply politicizing that which they themselves participated in legislating. Kenyans are increasingly dismayed especially by the preposterous behavior of Cabinet ministers who overstep acknowledged protocol of collective responsibility to criticize the policies and decisions ratified in cabinet meetings. This only lends credence to their sinister motives. The two principals must crack the whip now before it is too late. Now than ever before, the country desires President Kibaki`s silence to be broken, at least on the Mau issue.
TOME FRANCIS,
BUMULA CONSTITUENCY.
What i have learnt from the current Kenyan politicians is that those who created problems are now placing the burden on inocent citizens. The larger percentage of these people claiming to be the sympathizers of the evictees are part of those who grabbed lands in the name of buying from the white settlers, while the white settlers never bought them from owners, who are now the victims of rift valley land clashes.
In the early days, clashes have been happening but we could not understand why. At long last, we are almost knowing why. In several rallies recently, we had them say in public that Raila was defeated in 2007 election. The question is,why were they fighting there neighbors?
If i am not far from the truth, the waki commission`s inquiry have been justified by the same people. And automatically Ocampo now has evidence, sighted in broad daylight, by the same people.
Recently one of them went to curt to clear his name. Now we want to see if the court will say a spoon has two names.
Bro. Nyagilo, We do read this web site, at this times more so than ever before. We, (the people of Kalenjin ) I for one wish the current climate did not exist!
I felt that I should let you know that, calling us, the KU Klux Klan does help to heal the Rift in Kenya. what we now want with greater urgency, is a dialogue and understanding as to why people are angry.
Articles such as this are not going to endear your man-Raila into the hearts of Kalenjin. It would be of greater service to him if you-The Luos, kept your feelings within. Every one knows how you all support him. Loud obnoxious attacks and bursts from your tribes-men make matters only worse for the Prime Minister.
It is noble to save Mau, all of us ( The Kalenjin ) want it too! But we will not accept to be thrown out into the highway. It has happened before in Embobut-Cherangany’. Till today, since 2005, we have seen no resettlements or compensations. The Kalenjin were evicted also from Tinet and there has never been any compensations either.
We want water too, but why are we blamed for every ilk that is facing the world as a whole? There is a world climate change taking place, it is not Kenya only! Besides, why no Luyias were evicted from Kakamega forest? why the Kikuyus were not evicted from Mt Kenya forest lands? Why is it only the Kalenjins who are evicted every now and then? This is how the Kalenjin feel.
What do we want? We, want to leave Mau, if that is what you all want, we did it right? But first we want to be compensated, and we want to harvest our crops-our food, left on our plots.
Two, there ought to be orderly evacuation, where the government and Raila, make sure people have a place to go. Not on Mau Road side! And Stupid and contemptuous utterances from the types of Wekesa, should not be used on people facing homelessness.
Every one should be resettled, and if not, they should be compensated properly. They must be paid the true market value price for their lands, not the robbery price. Is that really too much to ask? These poor settlers are not asking anything that is even remotely close to the 11 thousand dollars that Raila gets a month!
If the Prime Minister was intelligent, he would have seen this coming, because no one, regardless of the level of want that they are in, can accept to be treated in the manner that these people have been treated!
What we have heard, including what you have jotted down, we shall keep it in our hearts, and believe me we shall never give our loyalty to any one in a manner in which we gave Raila in 2007. We did it because we yearned for change and a better Kenya.
In as much as I want to support Raila, I can not when he has made it his goal to persecute my people! I can not! Twice is enough to learn from. But thrice is more than enough.
Beside that, when I read articles such as this one you wrote, I obviously do not need a decipher to tell me how you, the Luos, feel about my people-The Kalenjin. We, (The Kalenjin ) love Kenya dearly, but with as much love as we do, our people-the Kalenjin, comes first, when there is persecution directed towards them!
I do not support Mr. Ruto, I never even voted for him, but just to remind you, the leader was Raila. During the Chaos, he is the one who called on the followers and supporters to take action and to come out to demonstrate against the election results.
Will your Raila account for his actions? Is he ready to be prosecuted? We all know how partly you, and the many Raila followers wish to bundle William Ruto out to the Hague to discredit him for insubordination!
Well, he is a survivor-He reads the people and he listens to them. If Raila were not keen in pleasing the world opinion, he might have benefited a lot.
If the Ocampo list was genuine, it would have been out in public domain! why secrecy? People like Waki knows exactly who caused all the trouble, and that begins from Kibaki and Raila.
The Hague is not going to bring peace to Kenya, as long as injustices prevail, you are going to witness even more violent episodes, when citizens are driven into a corner, burdened and disrespected!
TEKERE JELULE
Tekere Jelule, no hard feelings against any Kalenjin by your Luo brothers. We join them in exposing the hypocrisy of the likes of Ruto and you are not him, you are not Cheruiyot. So why equate them to you or to the entire Kalenjin. You are simply attempting to incite the Kalenjin.
This KKK thing is evil and let me assure you it is Kalonzo, and his sidekicks who think the third K stands for Kamba. No right thinking Kenyan. whether Kamba, Kikuyu or Kalenjin should support these silly evil schemes.
I personally voted for Kalonzo Musyoka, but let him be assured that association with this evil scheme, which wants to thrive on tribal differences, at a time when the nation is healing, is going to cost him dearly – I mean his political seat will go and his reputation is fast eroding.
I did not support Raila, and not yet sure if I will support him next time, but we cannot support people who have wrecked havoc on Kenya to undermine noble efforts of conserving water towers. Tekere, please tell them we shall not sleep and watch as they set the nation on fire. We are climbing every tree and rooftop at our disposal to raise an alarm until they disappear from the political scene.
Lastly, you Tekere Jelule should be a candidate for the Hague for stoking tribal animosity. Can you publish your phone number and ID details so that we prosecute you. Pass the message to Ruto, that an attempt to cover criminals with tribal blankets is not going to wash.
WAMBUA,
I AM A KALENJIN FIRST, AND A KENYAN SECOND! WHEN THE KALENJIN PEOPLE ARE SUBJECTED TO THE TYPE OF ASSAULT THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON, I FEEL IT TO THE CORE OF MY HEART!
IF YOU HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING MY ARGUMENTS, YOU MIGHT HAVE NOTED THAT I HAVE NEVER DEFENDED THE RUTO OR THE CHERUIYOT. WHAT I HAVE STATED AND SHALL CONTINUE TO STATE, IS THAT, THE MAU EVICTED CITIZENS, WHO ARE, ONLY THE KALENJIN BY THEIR TRIBE, MUST BE TREATED FAIRLY AND GIVEN A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN OTHER THAN THE MAU ROADSIDE. A PLACE THAT THE PM SEEMS TO INDICATE AS THE MORE ACCEPTABLE IN HIS OWN WAY OF REASONING.
HOW DID I INCITE? IF BY DEMANDING THAT THE ARBITRARY MANNER IN WHICH PEOPLE ARE EVICTED FROM THEIR HOMES, MUST BE DISCONTINUED, IS TERMED AS INCITEMENT, THEN I SHALL WEAR IT WITH PRIDE!
BE IT THE MURDERS OF KENYAN YOUTH USING THE EXCUSE OF BEING MUNGIKI OR CRIMINALS, BE IT MAU EVICTIONS, I SHALL OBJECT TO IT.
KENYAN PEOPLE MUST BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY, FAIRNESS WITHOUT IMPARTIALITY. AND LAWS FOLLOWED.
I WONDER IF YOU ARE INFORMED ON THE VOTING TREND OF THE LUOS, THEY VOTE AS A BLOCK, AND THEY VOTE FOR THE PERSON WHO COMES FROM THEIR OWN REGION, IN ALMOST ALL OF THE TIME! IF THEY CAN VOTE AS A BLOCK, WHY IS IT ” EVIL THING ” TO QUOTE YOU. WHEN A KAMBA OR THE KIKUYU AND KALENJINS VOTE AS A BLOCK!
IF THESE COMMUNITIES HAD VOTED AS A BLOCK IN 2007, WOULD THERE HAVE BEEN THE CHAOS THAT FOLLOWED THE 2007?
THERE HAVE BEEN SERIOUS ACRIMONY BETWEEN THE KIKUYUS AND THE KALENJIN, FOLLOWING THE 2007 ELECTIONS, WHY IS IT A PROBLEM WHEN PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO BRING THEM TOGETHER?
IT WOULD HELP A LOT IF YOU CAN RESEARCH AND UNDERSTAND THE ISSUES FIRST.
YOU HAVE TO KNOW ONE THING, THE OUTSIDERS CAN NEVER, BRING PEACE TO OUR NATION, IT IS ONLY US-KENYANS WHO CAN DO IT. TO MISTREAT OTHER KENYANS BECAUSE THEY ARE FROM OTHER TRIBE IS A RECIPE FOR A LONG CHAOS, THAT IN THE END WILL BE LIKE THE CASE OF RWANDA.
A LESSON THAT KENYA IS NOT SEEING IS THE CASE OF SOMALIA. IT IS THE TRIBALISM, AND IT IS SOON VISITING KENYA. IF THE CURRENT METHOD OF TREATING THE CITIZENS CONTINUES!
I DO NOT FEAR THE HAGUE. I CAN BE FOUND AT;

TEKERE JELULE
Bw. Kaloki tell them, this Tekere Jelule talks as if he is Ruto himself. Tell them that with the evil KKK scheme, their days are numbered.
The messages most of us are passing across are:
1)let there be no political games over the sanctity of lives(both present and future) and that of the environment.
2)Let not the unbridled ambition of Kalonzo, Kenyatta and Karuto(KKK) bring tribal animosity. KKK is not Kikuyu, kalanjin and Kamba alliance.
3)In as much as all of us do not support Raila, he is not Kenya’s number 1 enemy. In any case he has better credentials in fighting for the down trodden.
4)The so called ‘saints’ making noise, have been part and parcel of systems that ensured public land was grabbed and the poor became poorer and for their hypocrisy let them be exposed.
Mr. Fuambo, Thanks,
Would you now please pass our thanks to, Mr. PM, Odinga, tell him that;
He should not cease the cause. For he is not playing politics on the lives of the Kalenjin Mau residents! Let him know that their lives deserves to be held with sanctity! Today and in the forevers to come.
Remind him also: and thank him for us, for;
Not creating tribal animosity-between the Kalenjin and his tribe, while he is on his, ” UNBRIDLED AMBITION ”
As he is truly our friend, (Kalenjin ) friend. And he, as a person, possessing the,
” BETTER CREDENTIALS IN FIGHTING FOR THE DOWN TRODDEN ”
He has showed to us, the evicted, homeless-Kalenjin. That we are too, people, who deserve his care.
And please remind him too that if he is not able to help us, at this moment, he should leave others who want to help us to do so. Beg him not to try to stop help for us in the form of Harambee, like the one done, at the Pan Afrique Hotel! For he is not like those others who attempted to do so!
We know he is having sleepless nights, at his Runda Palace, thinking about our plight. We too, in our homeless, shacks on the Roadsides, adjacent to our former homes, pray, for ASIS, to give him a good sleep so that he would be able to carry on his great tasking work. Saving trees and ensuring that we disappear from the face of Mau!
Thank Agwambo for us, for making sure that we are better off, from our earlier poverty. We are very grateful, we left the, huts we used to call home in Mau to the Palaces on Mau Roadsides.
They are the very palaces that you, and Minister Wekesa, Noah, Prepared for us! The palaces are called, Twigs ramshacles, comfortably leaved and up to the environmental standards. Just as good as your Runda. And very fit for the Kalenjin.
And also, Mr. Fuambo, do not forget to remind ” JADUONG’ ” Dinga. We the Kalenjin Squatters, are happy. For he is not like, ” Those other so called Saints, ” He is different, and not part of the system.
We enjoy a much better life, under him. We are experiencing great wealth, we ( Each member of the evictees )are no longer getting poorer! Each month, we smile all the way to the bank, and we receive as much, as you, Hon. Amollo, the PM. receive! Over, $ 11 000.00 dollars.
With this kind of life style; Palaces on the Roadside, Is it not better than living in the Forests of Kenya?
We all support you and we can not wait to vote you in as the 4th. great President of Kenya, come 2012!
NDALAT MOSOP
Briother Tekere.
When I wrong you by stealing your cow, it is I Kaloki who has wronged you Tekere. When you start to tell your cousins and brothers that the Kambas have wronged the Kalenjins, you are simply fanning tribal animosity between the Kamba and the Kalenjin, and any casualty that would arise out of that would be your responsibility.
It is even worse when one is accused of discharging official responsibility, and people like you unashamedly stoke tribal feelings, and went ahead to display the same arrogance that the people who have messed Kenya are displaying.
Do you think the lives of the Kikuyus, who were burnt in Kiambaa church are more sacred than the one who is told to give room for Mau restoration.
I am not afraid to tell you and your likes and I mean you Tekere, not the Kalenjin, that your kind of thinking will never take any Kalenjin anywhere.
In a modern global village, where you can settle in Uganda without problems, it is shameful that a Kisii cannot stay in Eldoret in peace.
Rogues have have been incited before to kill Kisiis, Kikuyus and Luos in the past in Rift Valley. What do you think will happen if these people were to use the same distorted thinking and gang up against you? Do you think Kenya and kalenjins would remain?
It is a high time, we are saying enough is enough and to hell with tribal sentiments.
Your attitude is representative of impunity that is displayed by thugs who messed the national resources, and now pretend to be better custodians.
I am not a Raila supporter, but I can confidently say, he is not Kenya’s enemy number 1. He is not kalenjins enemy number 1.
You Tekere, Ruto and your likes are the enemies of kalenjin. instead of restoring relationships, you are severing links. As a result, you deserve somewhere worse than Hague, and I assure you, unless you shun your wayward thinking and ways, you shall surely be there.
Bwana Wambua Kaloki,
No need for threats! I have already taken precautions.Since 2007 december, I been in a state of preparedness!
You are missing out something, we, ( The Kalenjin ) I at the apex of the list, has never advocated anything other than, the unity of Kenyans. But when my people are haunted, by eviction after eviction, I do not have to consult Einstein, to make me understand that, there is something fishy taking place!
I can not be silent and let it go by because I have to be politically quotable and very acceptable! I shall call it what it is! ( The Deliberate attack upon the Kalenjin ) Ask your self why is it only the Kalenjins who are evicted?
I have not evicted anyone, YET. But if you are with Mr. WEKESA, the waziri, and the PM, then surely, if you are advocating that every one came from somewhere, then it should apply to all across the board! Those other people, who came from somewhere, should go back, so that my people who are evicted from Mau can have a place to come back to. Why should people who came from some other place, continue to occupy our home land when we are told to leave Mau?
Did I ever say, we do not want to be with other tribes? We have given away so much but it seems it does not matter, does it? The Kalenjin have tolerated other ” kabilas “, but what have we got? People who came and cohabited among us turned into murderers. Do you remember the Ainamoi MP? murdered by a Kisii, in Eldoret?
Mr. Wambua, that means there are Kisii, living among us! Did we ever asked that all the Abagusii leave our town? NO!
What is wrong if we, The KALENJIN, want to unite with the KIKUYUS, and the KAMBA? Should you not be celebrating, rather than, crying? We are trying to bring a healing yet you are ganging up against it, then you turn around and accuse us of hate! I find this type of reasoning really absurd!
Until Raila and Kibaki arrived in the scene, we had lived in peace, with the Kikuyus. What happened in 2007 had never happened in our land, why don’t you blame the people responsible-Kibaki and Raila!
I shall always stand steadfast in defense of Kalenjin no matter what! I shall never shy away from it!
Mr. Wambua, Can you clarify. ” WORSE THAN HAGUE…” and, ” YOU SHALL SURELY BE THERE ”
Is this a threat?
TEKERE JELULE
Tekere,
Many of us still think Hague is the worst thing, forgetting that there are worse destinations than Hague. If you were to die with blood in your hands without repenting, you face eternal death-the so called HELL.
Woe unto him who takes a shower of gasoline and goes to torch a neighbours house. The consequence for him would be worse than Hague. He would simply be burning alive.
Yes I can see some of you taking a shower of gasoline with match boxes to go and torch your neigbours houses, and you shall surely burn most probably before the neighbours houses are burnt.
-I remember a policeman shot the late Hon. Too dead. This was wrong and I guess he got punished for it. However when you talk of a Kisii, you are off the mark and fanning tribal animosity, and we have to tell you off. You can call it a threat, but that would not stop us from pointing to you the consequences of your recklessness.
-For the Mau, I do not know if any Kamba, Kisii or Luo was illegally allocated land there. If not, you do not expect a Kisii, a Luo or a Kamba to be one of the evictees.
-Unity is good but exclusive unity is evil. Why KKK and not the other over thirty tribes? Why not front an ideology and coalesce around it as Tekere, Kaloki and the rest like minded people? This is fanning tribalism, and like taking a shower of gasoline. Do not be deceived by numbers, and end up tearing the nation apart, but use ideas for the prosperity of all.
-Remember the ethnic cleansing rituals oof 1992, 1997 in Rift Valley. We do not want to blame the Kalenjins for the crimes but the indiividuals who were responsible. How did kibaki and Raila contribute to that?
-I personally witnessed Kisiis being removed from public vehicles by rogues around Kapsabet during PEV and know of Kisii friends whose houses were torched in Eldoret by rogues, after being ordered to leave. Surely, was this protesting against bugled elections? Again we did not accuse the kalenjins.
Lastly, the imperfections in life makes it necessary that for every step taken in the right direction, there must be a sacrifice. In this case, moving from water towers is a sacrifice. You only need to tell the government to make it as comfortable as they can.
People like Tekere do not represent the Kalenjins and they think we forgot the tribal clashes in Rift Valley in 1991 and 1997 when Riala na dKibaki were nowhere in the picture and Mopi was at the helm.
It is an age old strategy that the guilty shall always look for innocent scapegoats in their attempts to cleanse themselves. Even the old devil had to be at the forefront of crucifying the innocent Jesus not knowing that the very act of crucifying Jesus was the one that would vanquish him.
People like Ruto who pretend to know the bible inside out should be able to know what i ‘ma saying. AN ATTEMPT AT CLEANSING THEMSELVES BY CRUCIFYING THE INNOCENT SHALL VANQUISH THEM COMPLETELY.
Their only way out is repentance, change of ways and restitution-returning back the ill gotten wealth to thye public coffers.
