Kenya: Secret Mutula died with – WHAT ARE THEY?

From: Judy Miriga

Thank you Tebiti Oisaboke,

May God Bless your heart my sista. Missery and loses such as this before us requires humility and wisdom. It requires keeness of observations looking at possible hints. We engage t consult our deepest thoughts and share opinions leads with a purpose to get the intelligence to move closer to what actually happened.

It is because we want to know why did it have to happen and who are the probable possible suspects to help zero in to who did what and why.

I am still saddened and have not gotten to reality of whether one of our leaders Mutula Kilonzo have actually died.

To see some people making a mockery of our consultation quest just defeat me.

“Birds of the same feather flock together”. We were treated to a dangerous drama in 2007/8 where killings of the innocent were engineered and executed by political thugs. A panel of eminent African Leaders led by Kofi Annan were set up and ICC Hague was formalized. The constitution was put to effect amidst twist and turns where the political gang, although having lost at the Refrendum against the People Mandate, found their way into parliament and changed the constitution to suit and favour their unscrupulous Corporate Special Business Interest who added dangerous clauses to provide for their “Free Business Trade” of acquiring public wealth and resources without check and balances for Transparency and Accountability so they can get away with wrong doing and their unjustified Trading Partners evade paying taxes while they float in explosive corruption.

These Birds of the same feather enjoyed and benefited from the loot of public cofer. This was public money which was stolen and was acquired unfairly, unjustly and irregularly through corruption between the Chinese Agents of the Unscrupulous Corporate special business community from Canada who ganged up with the World Bank and some US Corporate Business individuals to siphone money through the account of Vision 2030 which have no head or tail but created a worse-case-scenario of poverty in Kenya and the East Africa Nations.

For the thieves to stick together and continue to drain the poor into poverty death-bed, “Birds of the same feather” colluded not to complete the police Reform, but use the same to eliminate Evidence of ICC Hague.

Wake up people………more people are still going to die because “Birds of the Same Feather” demands that their fellows who were voted out by the people, are sneaked through the back door to parliament.

This is why, their possible orphans are making mockery of the death of Mutula Kilonzo.

This is why Saitoti and Ojode were killed and we must not take Mutula Kilonzo killing as a joke.

The said secret(s) Sen Mutula might have caused or contributed to his death. If you analyze this article clearly while thinking between these lines, you will find that the devolution issue is out We have very many hanging questions to figure out. So, what could this secret be? We all know that Sen Kilonzo Mutula was Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs before being “pushed” to the Higher Education docket. Was Sen Mutula a principal witness at the forth coming ICC cases at the Hague, Netherlands? Was he got rid off just because of that? In 1992, when the late Foreign Minister Dr. Robati Choni Ouko was brutally murdered set a fire, lots of key witnesses were mysteriously eliminated to conceal evidence. Are we back to the Moi/Kenyatta Senior reigns? Nevertheless, its a little bit encouraging to hear some good news that specialists from United Kingdom will be performing the autopsy of the late Makueni Senator Kilonzo Mutula. That knucklehead by the name of Dakitari Johanstone Odour should not even be allowed anywhere near his body. He already let us down with the Prof. Chochi Kiarie Kinuthia Ole Saitoti-Muthengi’s autopsy. He did a very lousy and silly job. The digital adminstrators are telling us to move forward and not backwards and yet dudes like Dr. Oduor are pulling us backwards. If someone tells you to move forward, please do so in the interests of Kenya. That is what Kenyatta Senior used to tell us, “Kenya Yasonga Mbele”. He used to say that Forward we succeed, Backwards we fail. Its my humble prayer that these expatriates will determine the actual cause of death so that we can either songa mbele or nyuma. Hopefully, this won’t be another of Dr. Ouko’s type of eliminations. Lets all pray to our almighty father to save our souls.

RIP Senator Mutula till we meet again

This is now disturbing, causing spread of rumor mills. So many questions, yet very few answers. Why the house helper and kitchen staff not behind bars for proper and detailed interrogation bits logic.

Already the family have enlisted the services of a foreign pathologist to carry body examining and cause of death…..which should have been done by government pathologist!!! big shame to this scandalous Gava.

Annan mourns Mutula
Last updated on 29 Apr 2013 14:53

By Digital Reporter

KENYA: Former United Nations secretary General, Kofi Annan, has mourned the death of Makueni Senator, Mutula Kilozo.

In a statement released to newsrooms, Annan condoled the family of the late Senator as well as the nation of Kenya for losing ‘a true patriot and statesman’.

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the sudden demise of Senator, the Hon Mutula Kilonzo, and wish to express my deepest condolences to his family, and to the Government and the people of Kenya,” said Annan.

Reminiscing on when he worked with the former Minister in brokering the national coalition deal following the 2007/2008 post poll conflict, Annan lauded Mutula for his contribution in the talks.

“While Mutula will be remembered for the distinction with which he served in both the private and public sectors, I will never forget the essential role he played as a member of the Negotiations Team during the Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation (KNDR) process, and its subsequent implementation,” read Annan’s statement.

Kofi Annan, who spearheaded peace talks between Former President Kibaki and Raila Odinga, is the chair of the African Union (AU) Panel of Eminent African Personalities.

Annan joins President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and former presidents Kibaki and Moi who have expressed their grief at the loss of Matula Kilonzo.

Mutula passed on Saturday in his Maanzoni home in Machakos County on Saturday morning.

Secret Mutula died with

Nairobi, Kenya: There is a secret so big that Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo will take to his grave. It is a story he warned Standard reporter Roselyne Obala would shake Kenya.

Though he refused to give details, the late Senior Counsel insisted to Obala the story would not only surprise Kenyans, but could have major consequences.

That was on March 28 after Mutula was sworn in as Senator. A post-mortem scheduled to be carried out on his body Monday will seek to establish why he died suddenly, and without making even a single call to family or friends for help.

Sunday, as those close to him called for thorough probe into his death on Friday or Saturday night, a special team of detectives from Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Nairobi began working to try and piece together what transpired in the former Education minister’s final hours at his ranch.

At the same time, three committees were formed to plan his burial, after a day’s meeting with the family. They are the Senate, National Assembly and Family committees.

“We’ve had a consultative meeting with the family and agreed to form the three committees, the Senate, the National Assembly where he was before going to the Senate and the family one. The committee will meet on tomorrow for other arrangements,” said Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama at Mutula’s home in Gigiri, Nairobi.

According to the Family committee’s interim secretary Mr Musyoki Kivindyo, each committee will meet and come up with a progressive report on burial arrangements that befit the late Senior Counsel.

Straight talking

It also emerged from his friend and former Attorney General Amos Wako, who is also the Busia Senator and was among the last to speak with Mutula, that the former Justice minister was in robust health.

Mutula’s trainer at the Hilton Hotel gymnasium, who took the former Makueni Senator through his aerobic sessions on Friday morning, corroborated this statement.

Later in the afternoon, Mutula would leave for his Maanzoni Ranch in Machakos County, where he would be found dead the following day, with foam on his mouth.

Mutula, a straight-talking politician and astute lawyer, told Obala a month before he died that he would reveal to her the secret he bore ‘with time’, but sadly he died before they could meet again.

On that March 28, after being sworn-in as Senator for Makueni, he said, during a short interview, that he had information that if published in the media, would “cause panic and mayhem”.

Said Obala: “A jovial Kilonzo emerged from the Senate and we had a brief encounter at the Senator’s lounge. It was on Thursday afternoon on March 28, when I engaged him in an interview to get to understand the Senate’s role,’’ reports Obala.

“From the outset, he appeared happy, energetic and raring to go, dressed in a brown suit. We exchanged pleasantries, and I began by congratulating him on his election as Senator for Makueni.”

Suddenly diverted

Obala goes on: “He began outlining the responsibilities of Senators and how they will take the National Government to task over devolution. He then said their role was to be a link between County Governments and National Government.”

Mutula was explaining how they intend to take on the National Government over the implementation of the Devolution, “when he suddenly diverted and stated that there is a lot going on that Kenyans need to know,’’ Obala went on.

Mutula told her that it is no secret that the National Government is trying to frustrate the implementation of Devolved Government. ”

It was at this juncture that his tone changed, he looked serious and stated; “I have information that if I disclose to you Monday, your papers will be burnt the next minute.”

The statement came as a surprise, but when Obala pressed him, because she was curious to know more, and even offered not to name him in the story, Kilonzo retorted: “No, No, No.”

She pleaded with him, saying, “Please Mheshimiwa (Honourable), I will use an anonymous source,” he declined.

When she insisted he reiterated as they walked down the stairs: “Save the company (Standard Group Limited) and yourself. I promise to give you the information at the right time.”

Those were Mutula’s last words to the journalist as he walked away and, unfortunately, that is where the big story that never came to life ended.

Sunday, the officers from the CID’s Homicide Unit based at Mazingira Building along Kiambu Road took over the probe from their colleagues in Machakos. The team, led by the unit’s head Mr John Kariuki, will work with those from Machakos and are expected to attend Monday’s planned post-mortem exercise.

Officials at CID headquarters revealed the Homicide Unit revisited the scene where the body was found and was set to take over all samples that had been collected. They also interviewed Mutula’s workers who prepared him supper on Friday.

“They will visit the place where the food was prepared as part of the investigations into the death. They have also taken away samples of the food for testing and analysis,” said a senior officer aware of the probe.

The cause of the death is yet to be established.

Sitting alone

“I do not know why I was not alarmed by this odd attitude. He was not keen on participating in Senate sessions, but wanted to talk more about his family and his career fulfillment. I should have prodded him further,” said Senator Wako, remarking wistfully about his last meeting with a friend he had known for over 35 years.

Wako last met Mutula on Thursday in the Senate during the afternoon sessions. He remembers seeing his friend walking in and sitting alone on a secluded seat. Mutula appeared dull and engrossed in personal thoughts; or may be it was just mental fatigue, said Senator Wako.

“I quickly moved to where he was and sat next to him and asked where he had been all this time. I was concerned that he had missed out on the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) retreat at Naivasha, and other party engagements,” Wako told The Standard.

However, the Busia Senator does not remember getting a clear answer to his question. Instead he asked his friend, whether he was prepared to make any contributions to the ongoing debate on the floor of the House.

But Mutula, indifferently, said there was no need.

“What is there to discuss about?” he asked, as if to suggest the issue at hand was not beyond his parliamentary colleagues to handle.

According to his fitness instructor of six years, who identified himself only as Tim, Mutula was at the gym at 6am in the morning, and went through his routine aerobic paces for 30 minutes before leaving.

“He was jovial as usual and quite physically fit as I took the aerobic class through the usual paces. Mheshimiwa was fit and went through the paces non-stop, without showing any signs of slowing down,” Tim told The Standard.

Tobiko appoints team to guide probe on Mutula’s death

Nairobi, Kenya: Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has appointed a team of prosecutors to assist and guide police investigating the death of Mutula Kilonzo.

Updated 2 hrs 57 mins ago

By Cyrus Ombati

The team to be headed by Senior Assistant DPP Grace Murungi is supposed to assist and guide the team of police led by deputy head of investigations at CID headquarters Mr Pius Macharia.

“Further, I do direct that upon completion of these investigations, do kindly cause the resultant inquiry file to be submitted to this office for perusal and appropriate direction,” said Tobiko in a letter to Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo.

Tobiko’s move is indicates the seriousness that his office is giving the death of the Makueni Senator whose body was discovered in his bed on Saturday long after he had died.

The investigators have been unable to point the time and cause of his death but have since recorded statements from almost a dozen of people.

Those interrogated include workers at his Maanzoni home where he died. The team on Monday said samples of food they collected from the scene are still preserved to wait for the results of the post-mortem exercise that is scheduled to be conducted Tuesday.

The samples will be tested by experts locally and internationally and the Government Chemists to establish if they contained any poison that may have caused the death, said an officer in the team.

Meanwhile, the burial of the late senator is scheduled for Wednesday May 9.

Margaret Gichuki,

We are not rushing into judgement, we are sick and tired of how people are slaughtered, exterminated, are brutally killed and are forcefully driven out of their homes, their dwelling places and community by the gun in Kenya and yet the Government is doing nothing but cover-up…. You know I love everyone equally the same and by how much God has Blessed me, I am in a position to simply reach out to acquire enough for my family, settle down and enjoy life to the fullest. Ask your self why I do not do that and worry about nothing. It is because life is not complete when Peace, Unity and Love is absent and it has been stolen by the wicked evil spirit.

The purpose of God’s creation is LOVE. It is the commandment through which, God gave us care and share. God did not creat us to live in isolation and be selfish and greedy. He Blessed us and demanded that we be Responsible at rendering services cordially in harmony and in a balance share fairly gifts of God. Through our hard work and in pain, we shall enjoy the fruits of happiness on earth; but, God warned us to beware and watch out on the devil, the wicked evil one who come to steal, kill and destroy. It is in caring and sharing that we shall be at peace in unity enjoying fruits of the commandments of LOVE.

Margaret, this is the reason why I cannot relax secluded in my corner.

We have a job to do. We are not in judgement, like Tebiti has put it so uptly, “There are lots of explanation lingering” why the Government is slack and slow to act in the investigation of Sen. Kilonzo Mutula. There are lots of lose evidence in the public place that provide for lead to investigation instead of leaving the world in suspense. These are clear leads that are causing panic and serious speculation to the general public and the world. We want to know what the Government did with the information Mutula put to the Parliament and the security he was given when he complained about his life with that of his family being in danger. These are leads the Government must come clean about.

These are reason I feel Mutual was not given his obligated rights for security and protection. Could these be reasons for dilly dallying of getting to the bottom of what happened, what did the intelligence get, what could have possibly led to circumstantial foaming found on his mouth, what was the state of the body when found, who could have been the first suspects, why was he sad, sorrowful and remorseful the previous evening when he met with coleagues at Parliament and so on and so forth, summary of which he was found by his death-bed.

These are preliminary issue-based details the public want to know in order they can trust governments’ investigative process to ascertain trust. But the way things are, and the way the situation is handled by the security is suspecious and worrisome.

Because of excessive corruption, organized terrorims, threats also including Land Grabbing and Human Rights crime, violation and abuses in Kenya, we are very worried and anxious that Kenya and Kenyans are not safe under the corrupt police and political cover-ups. It is the reason why many more lives will be targeted and people shall be killed.

Considering that we recently lost Saitoti and Ojode with 6 occupants in Chopper, we shall not take this matter easy.

We are not going to give the Government’s political agents a soft carpet intimidate and oppress people through fear-factors mafia tactics. This world does not belong to a few special interests, but to all of us.

To get to the bottom of our pain and sufferings, why we are in extreme poverty and have no happiness; we demand for a right to independent investigative experts to be determined and expose the truth for action to be instituted.

Yes it is a huge shock indeed to every peace loving Kenyan. We are yet to come to terms as to how he died in a such painful yet quiet death in his bedroom without anybody hearing when he straggled to get to the birth-tab sick to emit orally. Yes he was by himself, that could be one of the reasons. However, how come our state investigative organs haven’t picked any suspect for questioning about his death? The only info we have is that they asked the house help about his condition and how he looked like when he arrived at his ranch. Just a few days ago, two bombs were planted at a marathon even in Boston, Massachusetts which exploded killing three innocent bystanders and maimed dozens of hundreds people. It only took a couple of hours to know who the suspects were and a manhunt pursuit to apprehend them was instituted immediately. It has been about 48 good hours and yet the Kenyan authorities have “absolutely NO clue” as to the events leading to Sen Mutula’s demise. This is a high profile investigation which calls for the suspension of whatever what these guys were working on and address this crucial issue. Kenyans are eagerly waiting for the answers because Sen Mutula was a national leader. When our national leaders start dying in such uncalled for ways, then that means we are in for a rude awakening-TROUBLE!! When some kind of leader said that he did not want to be sworn in holding a Bible yet he is not a Muslim, then that meant a whole lot of explanation as to WHY??? Mutula’s investigations should start with the house help tracking his route backwards. Where did he stop and what did he consume or drink prior to arriving at his ranch? I hope we will come to the bottom of this matter and justice awarded to Sen Kilonzo Mutula’s family and the entire Kenyan community. May he rest in peace, AMEN

May God Bless Kenya as we go forward in darkness!!!!!

The country was Saturday thrust into mourning following the sudden death of Makueni Senator and former Cabinet minister Mutula Kilonzo at his ranch in Maanzoni, Machakos County.

Mr Kilonzo was found dead in bed yesterday at around 11 am by his workers. Brother-in-law Chris Musau, who was the first relative to arrive at Mr Kilonzo’s home, confirmed the death after he was notified by the workers.

Police and medical personnel were called in to investigate what had caused the sudden death that left the family devastated and the country searching for answers.

Mr Kilonzo arrived at the ranch on Friday at around 3 pm as is his routine on most weekends when he does not have engagements that would keep him away. The workers said he was in a jovial mood when he arrived at the ranch driving himself.

“He alighted and went round the flower beds, giving instructions here and there on how the place should look,” a worker said.

He was alone and inspected the ranch before he was served dinner at around 7 pm. The rest of his family lives in Nairobi and the former Education minister visits the ranch regularly.

According to the workers who cannot be named because they were instructed not to speak to the media, the Senator went to bed immediately after dinner. He had been served githeri (a meal of maize and beans) but instead asked to be given roast meat.

He ate alone and then retired for the night. Breakfast was served yesterday morning but the workers noticed that Mr Kilonzo had not touched it at around 10 am which they found unusual.

After calling him out without an answer, they proceeded to his bedroom that had not been locked and found him lying in bed with foam covering his mouth. There was vomit in the sink in his bathroom.

The workers then rushed to call Mr Musau who heads the Maanzoni Lodge located about five kilometres away from Mr Kilonzo’s ranch. On arrival, Mr Musau tried to wake him up but the Senator did not respond.

He then rushed to the hotel where members of the Kenya Medical Association (KMA) were holding a conference and called in doctors who accompanied him back to Mr Kilonzo’s home where they confirmed he was dead.

Family members, close relatives and various leaders were then called with information about the death.

In the afternoon, Mr Musau emerged from the house to brief the media.

“For now all we can confirm is that Mr Kilonzo is dead,” Mr Musau, speaking on behalf of the family, said.

His son Mutula Kilonzo Junior, daughter Kethi Kilonzo and wife Nduku Kilonzo had arrived at the ranch from Nairobi.

Mr Kilonzo’s house was immediately secured by police officers as investigations got under way to establish the cause of the death that shocked the country.

As at 6 pm last evening, Mr Kilonzo’s body was still at his ranch as medical and police investigators got down to establishing the possible cause of death.

The team of doctors included a government pathologist and his personal physician.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, former Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka, Machakos County Senator Johnstone Muthama, Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka were among the first leaders to arrive at the ranch.

Mr Musyoka said it was difficult to say what exactly happened.

“We leave it to the team of doctors who have come to work on the body and we hope that they will get down to the bottom of the matter,” he said.

“The death of Mutula has shaken us all and is one of the most unexpected news. It’s hard to say anything,” Mr Musyoka said.

Mr Odinga described the death as a tragedy coming soon after the Senate opened its door for business where Mr Kilonzo served.

He revealed that he had lunch with Mr Kilonzo on Thursday in Nairobi.

“At this moment, speculation is high but we ask Kenyans to remain calm. We in the Cord coalition will do everything possible to make sure that the truth of Mr Kilonzo’s death is told,” he said.

“It is a big loss for the Cord team as Mr Kilonzo was a pillar and central to our operations.”

CID Director Ndegwa Muhoro said the cause of death could not be immediately established but the police would liaise with pathologists to establish what happened.

All the persons who interacted with him last will record statements with the police, Mr Muhoro said.

Later the body was moved to Lee Funeral Home.

“Since the circumstances surrounding the death were not very clear, it was necessary that proper investigations be carried out to establish the cause,” he said.

Police said that a pathologist was called in since he would be better placed to handle the samples to avoid contamination, and conduct preliminary investigations at the scene.

According to the pathologist, Dr Johansen Oduor, who was at the home, the body had no marks of physical injuries. Dr Oduor collected samples from the bedroom and the sink and later escorted the body to Lee Funeral Home.
