In a move that surprised many, Kisumu County’s Assembly Members passed a list of the early proposed Public Service Board members after they were treated in the house of one of the nominees where they were given plate of beans and chapatis and given two thousand shillings as transport to take them back home.

The hungry and broke County Reps had thought that one of the leading Kisumu businessmen Dr.Hezron Mcobewa would get involved and bankroll them as he did the other time only for them to turn around and vote a list he was favoring.

The County Reps who are an eye sore within the city of Kisumu due to their begging habits are said to be so broke and are always desperately seen converging every morning at the County Assembly hall where they have no major things to do except to way lay business men who goes about their bi\business normally in town and begs from them ceaselessly

Many were surprised further when they cleared a former Magistrate for the seat in the board yet Justice Aaron Ringera had her sacked during the 2003 “radical surgery within the judiciary”

During the vetting the Ringera Committee vetting came to haunt Betty Asuna as she was asked why she applied for the position yet she was declared unfit to hold any public office.

Asuna accused Justice Ringera of bias and never given her a chance to be heard therefore leading to her being sacked as a Magistrate.

She worked in Kisumu and Thika where she was sacked.

The board members comprised of retirees who are said to be close relatives of Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma in one way or the other.

“Its lamentable that Asuna has been cleared it just shows how skewed the County Reps priorities are” lamented one leading Advocate within the Lakeside City
