A SUSPECTED CARJACKER IS FELLED BY POLICE BULLETS IN KISUMU

POLICE in Kisumu at the weekend killed yet another suspected carjacker as the war against crime intensified in the lake side city.
The shooting comes hot in the heels of another, where two suspected criminals were gunned down by the police near Kenya Re junction.
Police said the two slain thugs were believed to be behind a spate of robbery attacks within the city’s Kondele and Migosi estates.
Confirming the incident, Kisumu police chief, Mr. John Mwinzi said police officers on patrol along the busy Kisumu-Kakamega road shot the 25 year old suspect while he was trying to carjack a motorist at a filling station near Kondele City Clock. His accomplice escaped with serious bullet wounds.
According to the O.C.P.D, the officers were attracted by a commotion at the station between the car owner and the two suspected carjackers, forcing them to open fire.
“The suspects were reportedly struggling with the car owner in an attempt to snatch the car keys from him and force their way into the car when my officers moved in”, said Mr. Mwinzi.
A shoot out ensued after one of the suspects withdrew his German colt pistol and began shooting in indiscriminately.
Cases of highway- robberies, bhang trafficking, and house braking ins have become common in the area in the recent past, with the police scaling up the war on crime.
