At the height of 2007 General Elections campaign and the violence that followed I recall exchanging with Mr. John Kamau on Ruto’s political style. Although, I was well aware that Hon. Ruto had intimated to Mr. Odinga during the ODM primaries that the PM was unelectable because of his ethnicity. Ruto quickly realised that he was on the wrong side of history and changed his position before serious damage could be done, he went ahead and worked tirelessly esp. in RV to secure the PM the votes and was promoted deputy party leader. Ruto stood tall and talked tough during violence that followed and indeed played a central role in the negotiating the National Accord. At the time I thought I saw something special in the young man and compared him with a future Raila. Kamau objected to my assertion
Mr. John Kamau, my friend you are now vindicated. The gerrymandering manner of William Ruto in the last I year has been confusing and left many wondering to say the least. He has demonstrated his deficiency in focus, larger than life ego and a terrifying ethnic dependence. His attempt to cut deals in both parliament regarding Mau vs Ringera sage and now during the constitution making attest to this.
Within a short span of time Uhuru Kenyatta has betrayed him twice. he has now joined JUDAS demanding again changes to a document that he has helped authored. ONLY time will tell if Ruto qualify to be Kenyan President at the current rate. I doubt.
OPEN LETTER TO WILLIAM RUTO
Greetings Mr William Ruto!
With a vicious rage and hate for Raila Amolo Odinga, William you joined the Uhuru camp at Naivasha to not only remove the post of Prime Minister but also to remove devolution. William Ruto in in all intents and purposes you are more concerned with the destruction of Raila Amolo Odinga than justice for the Kenyan people.
In blind rage and fury you have chosen to join the opponents, the Uhuru Kenyatta group who have effectively thus denied the majority of Kenyans the justice they have fought for for so long, the justice for which many Kenyans have been maimed, detained and even killed.
This said group shamelessly ditched you in Parliament leaving you on your own by absenting themselves during voting time on your motion. Since the new found love Uhuru Kenyatta has ditched you twice.
In joining Uhuru Kenyatta’s group I hope you have now realized that you have effectively done bad things to the majority of the Kenya population because your stand has now:
1. Denied Kenyans devolution which could have assured all Kenyans a fair share in the national economy.
2. There will now be restriction in the amount of land a Kenyan can own to 4 acres which only GEMA will be the main benefactors.
3.Another powerful president from GEMA this time will outsmart Mwai Kibaki by annexing the Rift Valley to Central Province as Mwai Kibaki has been straining to convert Central Right into Central Province.
Mr William Ruto, what is it that is so difficult in Uhuru Kenyatta and GEMA that a brilliant man like you could not decipher at a glance? We have all the history to guide us since 12.12.1963 in our political economy. What was so difficult for you that you could not see the truth before you led Kenyans again into the GEMA stranglehold at Naivasha?
Please try to see Kenya and not Raila Odinga in your dealings with matters of national affairs. Kenyatta and Moi chose to see Oginga Odnga rather than Kenya and so made laws that led to the PEV. Beware the Ides of March, Mr William Ruto. I am on of your admirers. Do not let me down.
Good luck Mr William Ruto but think hard! This time round it is not as easy as it was for you in during the KY92!
DR ODIDA OKUTHE.
It is unfair to call Hon. Ruto JUDAS because he is expressing his position in the search for a new constitution. I do not entirely agree with the position he is taking. I think he is being more regional but I suspect he is being mindful of his constituency. In that region they are advocating for for more counties as a vehicle to a devolved governance. It is political self preservation. Ruto would kiss goodbye to his political career if he went against the grain of his constituents wishes.
My point is Hon. Ruto has a right to agitate for his interests so long as he stays within the legal framework. He can position and reposition himself until the referendum. At that point the YES or the NO will carry the day. Beyond that point he, and every body else, must respect the will of the majority.
Bearing in mind that every kenyan is entitled to have an opinion as regarding the democratic pace in the country,I beg to differ when it comes to the Eldoret North MP. The desperation, anger and dishonesty that the man is employing to destroy The Prime Minister’s career cannot go unchallenged. His main agenda has completely shifted from developmental politics to that of blackmail, name calling and deal cutting in the corridors of power. That leaves me with one question to the Eldoret North Mp, ‘ What will you do when Raila is finally elected as the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya?’
