KARACHUONYO leaders have launched a Constituency Referendum team that will push for mass registration of voters and champion the Yes campaigns in the area.
Under chairmanship of local ODM branch chairman, Mr. Jack Nduri, the leaders have resolved to hold a series of campaign rallies across the constituency with a view to educating the people on the need to register as voters in large numbers.
Briefing the press after a consultative meeting attended by ODM, PNU and KANU officials at a Kendu Bay hotel – the leaders said it was important for political parties within the constituency to join forces with other stakeholders to bring results.
Nduri said the team will officially launch the Yes campaigns at Kendu Bay Bus park this coming Saturday, with follow up rallies in various parts of the constituency.
He said this follows a directive from his party headquarters that such campaigns are kicked off in various parts of the country.
Nduri announced that the Constituency referendum committee will comprise of all party branch and sub branch leaders from all corners of Karachuonyo, former MPs Dr. Adhu Awiti, and Mrs. Phoebe Asiyo, ODM officials Mr. Tom Dola, Mr. Donny Opar, Mr. Sammy Opiyo, Councilor Okuta Ogot, Mrs. Jane Ogot and SUPKEM official Mr. Saad Khairalaah among others.
He said other stakeholders whose names have yet to be identified will also be incorporated in the team so as to involve everyone.
“ We have also instructed our Location Officials of respective political parties to come together and form committees in their areas of mandate so that we can give the campaign a multi faceted approach,’’ said Nduri.
‘‘It will be an all inclusive team irrespective of an individual’s political affiliations within the party or constituency leadership,’’ said Nduri.
Nduri declared Karachuonyo a “Yes Zone” and directed the locals to “protect” their “territory” and ensure every eligible voter was registered.
The campaigns , Nduri said , will be held at Omboga , Wikondiek , Andhoge , Adiedo , Kadel , Kandiege , Kodula , Kanam , Pala , Wagwe , Nyakwere , Mawego and Otaro areas among others.
The ODM official, who was flanked by his PNU counterpart Mr. Paul Amenya, KANU chairman Japheth Ali Olonde and all ODM officials appealed for support from well wishers and party members to ensure the success of the campaign.
This man , Jack Nduri , is a real great young man. He needs to be supported to ascend to higher archelons of Kenyan leadership. He has single handedlty restored sanity in Karachuonyo leadership and operned up the democratic space that now enables the youth to be heard. Let huim be supported with ideas , resources and otherwise.
