Kenya: African Churches Umbrella body now hosts government officials, convenes crusade

The newly formed African Churches Foundation (ACF) recently held a four day conference and crusade in Homabay district whereby they hosted the top government officials-from provincial administration, police and education sector-and unanimously resolved to work in tandem with them to realize their set goals.

Under the flagship of its president Bishop Phoebe Onyango, the ACF officials Dr Bishop Maurice Orawo, Reverend Walter Angienda, Bishop John Ochieng and apostle David Kweyu promised the conference, that was attended by the deputy PC and the area’ deputy mayor, DC, DO, DCIO and DEO, that they will assist the police in curbing the crime through peaceful means, promoting girl child education.

And help in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS and also to agriculturally, sensitize the locals on the importance of the usage of artificial fertilizer.

The government lauded the ACF conglomeration, which was also attended by the entire leadership of homabay churches and local councilors, for such a move.

Not left out is the UK based body CONNECT INTERNATIONAL(IC) officials –Mr. Tony Rose, president, flanked by John Chaffe who sits in the magistrate court in UK and Allan, an executive director of multinational companies-which partners with the ACF ,further praised the government for according the foundation such an audience unlike other countries.

The conference attracted over 1000 people and 200 churches with the crusade pulling a flock of over 3000 congregants from homabay and its surrounding.

Officials of homabay chapter were confirmed during the four-day convergence: Chairman Bishop Peter Nyokeya, vice chair. Maurice Oguta,Sec.Patrick Limumba,treasurer pastor Walter Ochieng,vice sec.Domnick Ombija and Michael Oyundo as vice treasurer.

Other committee members are Pastor Francis Aradi, Salome Athiamo and Bishop Marenga.And, Elijah Kwaya and Cardinal Nicholas Obado of Miracle of Lights of Jesus as the patrons.

And in a bid to spread its tentacles across the country with an aim of promoting development through capacity building, the ACF is soon holding similar conferences and crusades in kisii, kakamega among other far flung areas.

It’s further planning to dispatch a delegation consisting of regional representatives to seek audience with the respective presidents, of the organization’s member countries.
