Kenya: Tough Talk ahead of Consensus Meeting

Folks,

Look at how miserable these grown ups politicians behave. They are so desperate to scuttle, hold back, delay, confuse and block the onward move of the Constitution.

People of Kenya, the Constitution package has moved from Parliament to AG Wako for publishing. What is left is the Referendum for Kenyans Republic to say “YES” they want it or “NO” they don’t in a consensus, which will provide the next move to election.

What do we see? Desperate manoeuvres of special corrupt interest groups of people trying to block and kill the constitution, and they have the fields day to command and turn heads, yet we all know too clear their interest is to scuttle and kill completely the Reform Agenda.

There is no amount of convincing left to be done. They just want to be stubborn and tire people. We must all stand up and challenge these character of people and make sure we send them home for good, but slam them Judicial counts of charges. It is time for them to pay up what they stole in ten folds people. They also need to go test and sample Kamiti and tell a story how it feels wajamaa. It is now up to Kenyans to stand united and decide never to be fooled again.

I said before, they will run but will not hide. Lets not give them more rooms for them to test our patients. Lets put fire on their bottoms so they find it hard even to sit still. They need some lessons at Kamiti folks. Think people, think. Then give them what they truly deserve.

Cheers !

Subject: NO to Multi-choice Referendum

Friends,

I like taking positions based on facts.

1] Let us look at the Constitution of Kenya Review Act of 2008 at Section 37;

37. (1) The Interim Independent Electoral Commission shall within seven days of the publication of the draft Constitution by the Attorney-General under section 34, frame and publish the question to be determined by the referendum.
(2) The question referred to in subsection (1) shall be framed in consultation with the Parliamentary Select Committee.
(3) The question to be submitted to the referendum shall require the voter to indicate whether the voter approves or does not approve the Proposed New Constitution and shall be so framed as to require the answer “Yes” or the answer “No.”
(4) The voting at a referendum shall be by secret ballot.
This section does not talk of questions. It is talking of question.

This was debated in parliament and passed. I want to believe that the Hon VP Hon Kalonzo Musyoka, the Hon DPM Hon Uhuru Kenyatta and the other No guys were all present in parliament. If they could not propose what they are saying now in parliament then, we have the wrong people in the right offices, and as Kenyans, we MUST act with speed.

What was passed in Parliament and for which Kalonzo, Uhuru and Ruto were part of does not give room for Multi-Choice Referendum. That is the law they passed.

2] Let us look at the composition of those saying NO;

President [Rtd] Mzee Moi- He was President for 24 years and it is during his reign that most things went heigh-wire. It is during his tenure that impunity, corruption and abuse of land was entrenched. He then refused to give room to reforms until he was forced. He thereafter took us in circles for ever in search of a new constitution. The man, with all due respect, should rest and leave us in peace. He failed to do what he is now telling us to do.
The Hon VP Kalonzo Musyoka- As Kenyans started agitating for change and a new constitutional order, he was busy singing Nyayo Juu Juu Zaidi. It seems he is still in that time warp.
The Hon DPM Uhuru Kenyatta- He is a beneficiary of the extensive land abuse associated with the last 2 presidencies. He has no option but to waver.
The Hon William Ruto- When Kenyans wanted multi party democracy entrenched in our system, we can all remember that he teamed up with Cyrus Jirongo and they formed Youth for Kanu ’92. It is this 2 men and their handlers who messed our economy. It has taken Mzee Kibaki pain to bring in some semblance of order.
The Hon Cyrus Jirongo- I do not know anything about him except that the was the chairman to the much discredited YK’92, and that the 500 note was renamed after him.

The top church leadership; John Cardinal Njue and Cannon Karanja; I remember they were in the fore front in the pulpit in the Banana campaign and during that time, the provisions as captured in the current Proposed Constitution were the same as they are now. So, I basically cannot comprehend what they are saying NO to. Largely, these are forces that denied Kenya reforms for so long. They are simply regrouping.

As we approach the final bend, it is good to read the Proposed Constitution and make sound judgement as to which side of history you want to belong to; is it with the forces that have agitated for reforms all along, or is it with the forces that denied us reforms for all that long?

Lastly, it must not be lost on Kenyans that when the Parliamentary Select Committee on Constitutional Review took their retreat to Naivasha, Migosi Uhuru Kenyatta and Migosi Ruto spent sleepless nights fixing Raila, not the constitution. For them, constitution making was to deny Raila access. They hence opposed what Raila would have prefered; a Parliamentary System of governance. They proposed the Presidential System as currently captured in the Proposal.

We must ask them, what went wrong?

They were busy focusing on Raila instead of the constitution. And now, Kenyans are focusing on the constitution, not Raila. They must bite the bullet. They must not bring in more confusion by proposing Multi-Choice Referendum to redress their own short comings. They must not use Kenyans for soft landing.

Register enmass as voters and let us put these guys where they belong.
