If the CoE says it has been printing the draft KATIBA at Ksh. 27/= and Treasury channelled cash to the Govt. Printer to do the same job at a whopping cost of Ksh. 180/=, is this another case of a scam going on?
In Kenya, the corrupt will never fail to find opportunities to “milk the cow” especially with any national undertakings. The way Uhuru is playing around with money for Civic Education leaves a lot to be desired considering a total of Ksh. 2 billion was budgeted for the constitution making process.
Where is this money and what has it done so far? It is welcoming to note that the Parliamentary committee concerned with the constitution is getting ready to probe the use of these funds as soon as the referendum is over.
The President needs to be more firm with Ministers who are sabotaging not only the realisation of the good constitution but also his legacy to leave Kenya better than he found it.
KIbaki is a President bestowed with a historic moment to unite Kenya twice, in 2002 when he was the flag bearer of the combined opposition that removed the dictatorial Moi regime. Kibaki’s Presidency has been characterised by a better democratic dispensation than that of his predecessors Kenyatta and Moi except for the bungled elections in 2007.
This is yet another chance history has bestowed on President Kibaki to move Kenya forward in reforms, shake it from the shackles and grip of the greedy elite now coalescing around the NO camp fighting the impending revolutional moment.
Kenyans need to support both the President and the Prime Minister on this as forces stronger than the two are out to scuttle reforms, it is a combined force of those who have stolen and looted this country for decades, control vast resources that are even mesmerizing Bishops to close their eyes to the evil schemes of these slave owners.
I call them slave owners for there is no other name for men who steal national resources, some of which are borrowed from foreign countries and institutions and then subject the common man to pay for the same. They still wish for us and our children to carry the burden of the billions they stashed in foreign accounts, and it is regrettable that many ordinary Kenyans are agreed with them on this.
We must all rise up to fight any type on Anglo-Leasing or Goldenberg scams being brewed during this historic moment, we must be on the look out for such greedy schemers, we must ask how the Ksh 2 billion for constitution making has been used so far.
