BOAZ Jakotaye Omori Odera, the 37 old primary school teacher-cum-journalist who died last week what was suspected to have been caused by drowning tragedy will be laid to rest next Saturday 12th June ,2011.

The burial will take place at his parents homestead, which is located at Rapogi village, Uriri district. He was staunch Christian and a member of the Anglican Church

This is after the family had abandoned the angle of suspicion of possible foul play after the scribe’s wife had stated that the teachers had suffered a severe headache the previous night and was slightly looking unwell in the morning when he left his house before the tragedy occurred at about 9.am while the deceased was crossing a shallow water stream on a mission to inspect his maize farm.

He was the fourth son of a Kisumu based veteran journalist Leo Odera Omolo, and a retired school teachers Mrs Benter Anyango Odera who is now a petty trader at Rapogi market.

His father described the scribe as a jolly and populist person within the locality judging from hundreds of messages of condolences the family had received from his friends, relatives and contacts country-wide.

Omolo said the young teacher was a hard working person and was his favorite son as he died while following his father foot steps as a budding writer. He has been a regular contributor of topic articles and features to the WEEKLY Citizen and jaluo.com website and other publications such as the LINK etc. He was also a sports enthusiast.

The young Odera was trained as a P1primary School teacher at Kamwenje Teachers Training College in N yeri and had worked at Obuongo Otuagi and Piny Owacho Primary School both located within Uriri district. But after serving for only a couple of years he had made many friends due to his easy and outgoing characters.

The young Odera left behind a widow and four small children. His father said he had suffered irreparable loss, adding that he had lost a friend and regular companion.

Pole sana to the Leo Odera family on the loss of his son who was following in his footsteps. The report should have been given by another colleague isntead of the father giving it in the narrative as if the story was written by someone else.It is however,my prayer that you have another son or daughter who will also take up the pen.Nyasaye obed kodu e kuyo maru

Indeed why would the father narrate the sad story by himself as if he is just a reporter?
Anyway, we dearly understand him- jounalist with a passion- and this one was a son following in his treads. may be he had handed over to him the ‘Oderaizm journalistic cult’
Not to forget too is that a sibling to the deceased should take up the pen to ensure continuity of the whizz scribes and as a homage to OMORY.
    RIP- bro
