THE ROLE OF CHILD CENTRED MAGAZINE IN KENYA
In order to be come completely educated, entertained and informed and therefore maximize one’s value in the society, a magazine is of significant importance. A magazine aids in development. It helps imparts, even as it entertains, skills and knowledge that helps in the development of qualities of character and intellect.
A magazine helps a reader to become broadminded, perceptive and capable of discerning various and aspects of life. A magazine should therefore play a role in the life of a readers, since it provides various experiences of other cultures, philosophies and attitudes. This will help readers become more informed and aware the world outside their own experiences.
A magazine also allows readers to compare his society with other peoples and encourage him become more aware of both the virtue and limitation and their values and experiences. To this end a magazine provides insights into the nature and potential of man, thus making reader more aware of their true selves.
Consequently, a magazine liberates one from narrow mindedness and stereotyping of others.
The diversities amongst rural communities in Kenya and communities in Britain shall be explored. These diversities will include issues that are social, educational, economic and personal issues.
A magazine should also be important for cognitive valves since it stimulates constructive thought about such issues and ideas. Analysis, interpretation and response to articles, require a reader to decipher meanings and significances.
Linguistically, a magazine plays considerable role in improving a reader’s knowledge on language, its potential and possibilities. Indeed, the envisaged magazine has one broad objective of instilling communicative competence that should help pupils / students in their career, success and social life.
Further, the magazine should help promote creative writing skills and talents amongst readers, ultimately, the magazine should help contribute to holistic training and improvement of the writers and readers in all dimension of life, therefore it should improves a person socially, cognitively, morally, linguistically and effectively.
The envisaged magazine has the target audience of the pupils, students, teachers and the community in Seme in Kenya. The contents of the magazine will be diverse and varied on a range of issued. Herein included are letters to the editor, poetry, narratives, pictorial illustrations / cartoons, feature and other articles.
This magazine shall be reader centered as they are expected to write, edit and read
Its therefore a magazine for the readers by readers.
