Kenya: Yesterday’s Peaceful Demo: Thank you All

From: Mr BENJI

A big THANK YOU, to every one who worked so hard to make yesterday’s demonstration successful. We managed a good size crowd, totally peaceful yet full of energy and anger at rogue MPs.

I didn’t know mobilization was such hard work, we had to talk to so many organizations and with the police back and forth as they said NO, WAIT and we said no we can’t wait we WILL, we MUST.

Thanks a lot to Christine and ICJ, CRECO, Dorah and TISA, BUNGE, NUBIAN RF, WAREMBO NA KATIBA,VINCHO’S FACEBOOK, YOUTH AGENDA and many others.

The challenge now is to sustain the campaign and keep the MPs accountable on this issue. To that effect, we are calling a meeting of organizations and individuals who can work to sustain the campaign ‘AGAINST MPs increasing their salaries’ to be held at CLARION offices on Monday July 12, at 11am.

Let’s remember Civil Society is strengthened when different organizations work simultaneously on different fronts but speak with one voice. We are less effective if we all focus on one thing, say Human Rights, then Katiba, then Bunge Salaries.

Let’s support each other through all the different efforts as they happen concurrently. This purposefully increases our foot print and diversity.

Thanks again to every one.
Sincerely,

Benji Ndolo
