Jo-Winam Jimbo,
I have read with a keen interest the contribution of Bob and that of what the former Mayor regarding reason why donors are likely not to invest in Kisumu. There is much to desire about this article and I will further give it serious a thought.

Jo Winam Duto,
I have read the articles with alot of curiosity and interest. I have noted however that donors are a big dissapointment, especially the case of world bank, they are never truly genuine about poverty reduction or development, they want to forever keep you begging, if you look at most projects expenditures of these so called development agencies – contracts are awarded to foreign countries and foreign consultants and only 20 percent goes to the local economy. I believe these projects can be done by the government of Kenya, instead of Anglo-leasing and capital flight, this money if properly utilized in an effective and effecicient manner can go along way into improving infrastructure and services which is what Kenya badly needs at the moment. Kenya raises enough money through tax – this money is enough to do alot for the country in terms of infrastrucutre, but government expenditure on the reccurrent budget is too much, the size of cabinet and MPs salaries are weighing down on the tax payers, Kenyans must rethink their priorities, we need a seismic shift in terms of leadership, we need selfless leaders who are ready to give up wealth and fat salaries for the sake of this country, we need planners, professionals etc to come together and save the country.
I still believe and with great conviction that the answer to developing Kisumu lies in the people of Kisumu/nyanza themselves and of course with support from the government. we need the professionals of Nyanza to come together with a blue print for the development of the Jimbo into the regional hub of commerce, tourism first class infrastructure, we then need thorough fund raising, and now that Raila is the PM, government support should not be a problem. We need people who are even ready to do pro-bono work for the sake of dear Kisumu – city planners, engineers, development experts ( I am one of them) need to come together and save Kisumu, we cannot forever wait for the government. I am convinced that this needs to be a deep seated convictiond and initiative from the natives of Kisumu themselves as was the case of Kerala State in India which is now being used as a “model” for development. Guys keep thinking…..
