From: KENNEDY KORIR
Having just spearheaded the realization of the new Constitution together with his co-principal Kibaki, methinks that this is the right time for the Rt.Hon.Prime Minister to hang his gloves and completely retire from politics (not the Moi type retirement but the Mandela type)
For the following reasons;
* In 2012 Raila will be nearly 70 and the current age of progressive world leaders is 50 – 55
* His health is not favouring him
* Having fought for the 2ND liberation for more than 30 years he needs to leave a legacy, that yes I fought and here I leave you with a new Kenya, a new order.
* Should he contest the presidency in 2012 and fail (which he will most likely) that will be the end of him and that is what he will be remembered for – the man who contested the presidency 4 times and failed.
Now go ahead and lynch me
Raila has not attained what he suffered for under the repressive regime of Moi.Had he became the President in the last marred elections of 2007 and helped pass a new constitution the year 2012 could have been his last and with it s end the right time to exit politics as you are suggesting.Raila has alot still to do for Kenya as a country and this he can only do if he ascends to the presidency of the country as he has untarnished reputation.Those 50-55 you are talking about have proved to be for the status quo and will not lead kenya anywhere.Among the young politicians especially the ones who were opposed to the constitution were doing it for the sake of safe guarding what they nyakuad under Mois leadership.Unless we have a new crop of fresh politicians who are not tainted with anything then Raila is still not to rally for the masses.You asking to be lynched indicates that you have you head buried under the sand of tribalism and since this is a luo website then whatever you say about Raila will bring you the wrath of the luos,then you are wrong.You would have named Railas accomplishments that he has made so far but you didnt so give him the time to take us to canaan the land of milk and honey though it wouldnt be that easy.
Ndugu Korir,
State your intentions clearly without feigning affection for Raila. It seems to me you get frights when Raila is in the mix. Don’t be a coward. I have been a Raila political skeptic for along time but he has won me over with the middle of ground concessions he has been giving his opponents in the interest of tne national stability.
He is a nationalist we are much the better with him minding the consolidation of the new state of things.
Why should Raila resigned? Korir,if you are true Kalenjin and a true Kenyan then youshoulkd directyour politicalanticstio the retured Presiudent Moi and tell him to go hom and rest!!Otherwise youcomments should be treated as “the work of a “aper Tiger”
Leo
