Other than what the good book says in Mathew 25:31-46-a day when the Lord of the Universe will separate the entire world into two groups- the sheep and the goats, I have no idea whatsoever what format the terminal graduation will take! What I do know though, is what happened yesterday, Wednesday, June 4th, during my daughter, Mary Anne’s 6th grade graduation. I therefore wish to start from there.
1.The graduation started and ended on time, something that I have come to admire and appreciate in this society.
2.The hall was packed with jubilant and well mannered parents, grandparents and well wishers of all races. They were there with their cameras and video cameras taking pictures of their loved ones. They patiently waited until all the students were handed over their certificates before they applauded. In this way, no one felt left out.
3.The graduates-more than 60,behaved like graduates, way above their age.
I was proud of each one of them
But, there were sad moments too!
Among the graduates were children with disabilities. As their parents wheeled them to receive their certificates, I was reminded of the ugly consequences of sin. I was immensely touched; so much that I found myself crying! With so little to do to change it, I whispered a silent prayer on their behalf.
Then, there was this couple who sadly lost their son about two months ago. He was to graduate yesterday along with his 6th graders. The mention of the student and the show of some of his photos spoiled the whole graduation for me. Their pain was manifest. I tried imagining myself in their situation and it was nothing but pain and anger! God alone understands their pain. From the time their tragedy was shared, my mind moved away from this particular graduation to the terminal one!
What about it!
1.Isaiah 25:9 tells us that some will be very excited.
2.Revelation 6:15-17 tells us that many will prefer rocks to fell on them
3.Mathew 7:21-23 tells us that many of those who taught that they had made all the requirements will find their names missing. Oh, what a sad moment!
4.Mathew 25:31-46 Part of the major requirements will be based on how we treated God’s children while on earth.
5.There will be no cameras/video cameras or cheering as everyone will be thinking of his/her own graduation.
The good news is that there is still time to make up and that the good Lord as always, wants all His children to be the candidates of the heavenly kingdom.
And so the big question is! Are you willing to prepare? Am I?
Just a thought
