Kenya: City wide clean-up; Thank you EBDA

From: odhiambo okecth

The City wide clean up received a boost today when the Eastleigh Business District Association offered us 200 T-shirts, 1,000 bottles of water, Kshs 100,000.00 cash and Kshs 4,000,000.00 in their partnership on road repairs covering the 300 metres stretch between 3rd and 6th Street.

That is not all. The Youth Kenya for Social Development also gave us a promise of 3 banners.

We then visited Captain Mungai Street where rehabilitation works are on going and Eng Karatai took us through the works.

Later, we paid a courtesy call on the District Commissioner Kamukunji Madam Matilda Sakwa where she met us in the company of DO1 Mr. Peter Ng’entu.

In our entourage we had the Director of Environment at the City Council of Nairobi Eng Christine Ogut, Assistant Director Environment [SWM] Mr. Mario Kainga, Madam Petronila Nafula and myself.

The Eastleigh Business District Association was led by the Vice Chairman Mr Hussein Haji.

On behalf of the City Council of Nairobi Stakeholders Evaluation Team, I must register our appreciation to the EBDA members for this generous support for the clean-up scheduled for this Saturday 18th September 2010, and for their generous support of Kshs 4 Million towards the rehabilitation of the 300 metre stretch along 1st Avenue Eastleigh.

This is a positive effort and we are calling on more Kenyans to step forward and engage the City Council of Nairobi. Only then can we complain if they fail to deliver to us the residents of Nairobi.

In the meantime, we are calling on all of us to come forward, roll our sleeves on 18th September 2010, and help clean Nairobi.
