Hello:
Is there anyone who knows how I can contact the Police via e-mail?
I took my time to look at this today, consequent upon some post here a week or so ago. I am particularly interested in what the Police Reforms is all about and wanted to request for the Blueprint for the process or whatever name you’d like to call it. I feel that as a Kenyan, I should have a say on the process implementation as there is a lot I’d like seen changed.
The Kenya Police have a website – www.kenyapolice.go.ke – which looks like it was done in such a hurry. It turns out as less helpful as it is unmaintained.
They have given some contact addresses – commissioner@police.go.ke, spokesman@police.go.ke, etc. The problem here is that the domain name “police.go.ke” does not even exist in the .KE registry as of today’s date.
I am wondering if our Police Force is going to modernize and embrace ICT. When will they computerize? I see no modernization coming in the absence of proper ICT systems. Managing crime manually, in this age, is just not it.
This prompted me to look at other websites for Police Forces across East Africa.
1. Uganda Police – http://www.upf.go.ug – the website is not friendly to the eye, but seems to have some updates. They encourage input into their review process, via a gmail.com address. Not funny!
2. Tanzania Police – http://www.policeforce.go.tz – the website is in Kiswahili, which is not my favorite language and as such does not attract me. However, given the EAC, shouldn’t they have an English version?
3. Rwanda Police – http://www.police.gov.rw/ – this website looks nice, and appears to have constant updated information, but has so many broken links. It’s in English though. No mention of EAC at all.
Then I looked at a foreign Police website. Cyprus Police (www.police.gov.cy) and I thought to myself – why does the Police Forces in EAC want to reinvent the wheel anyway? They can simply copy and improve, no???
