In as much as I would want to agree with you, the Luo must look at this thing with some keenness,

Culture has never been static, and the many communities in the world have ways of doing their things. The people of Moses and Joshua had a way of doing their things as opposed to Ramogi and his people.

Before the white man came to Africa with the Bible on the left hand and the gun, yes, the gun on the right side, we had our own ways of reaching out to our Gods. The white man brain washed us to only believe that their God was the only true God to be worshiped by all.

We became converted into their ways and with that, get engrossed also into their mess. The purity with which we lived with each other got eroded and we assumed some sorts of behaviour that was alien to our fore fathers.

It is then that we started missing the track.

We discarded the Luo culture of removal of the 6 lower teeth as modern science came up with better means of managing the lock jaw disease. Other modern ways came into being. I do not contest all the modern ways that came to our advantage. But I do contest modern science that has been proved ineffective.

Examples abound, and figures do not lie, that only a small percentage of the people whose things have been cut are immune to the ravages of HIV/AIDS.

In Kenya, we have proof that having your thing cut is no panacea to HIV/AIDS. What is, is your behaviour and conduct. If you are as randy as a bull, your days on earth are as numbered, whether your thing is cut or not.

Allocation of AIDS money in Kenya also tend to be over concentrated in other regions other than Nyanza. And yet, the reverse should be the case. Why do we give bigger votes to those whose things have been cut, if the argument for the cut is that it reduces the rate of infections?

We must not engage in double standards with our lives. Being cut does not minimize HIV/AIDS. What does is faithfulness to your spouse, or remain celibate.

Jairus,

As Christian Jaluo, keep one woman but give her meaningful responsible satisfying naturally protected sex.  Healthwise, keep yourself clean by flip open wash dry and shut. Culture that are outdated dies naturally, does not need schooling or lecturing.  Jaluo is Jaluo come rain come sunshine, you dont force him to do things.  Jaluo is a social habit being that enjoys its environ at its best and does not like to be rediculed.  He is at peace with everyone and does not understand why others prick on them.  They change at their own onset.  But Change changes them slowly but surely in other areas that require genuine change like tero buru, girl child inheritance and polygamy.  Circumsicion is not a social change nor is it health issue. It is at will, if you like it.  There is no modern sex, what you see is animal kingdom.  Dogs and chickens do it, that is why there is homosexualism and lesbianism, there is the animalism in those who so call the modernism sex fashionable.  Therefore human beings are not animals, come on people stay sober ….. God created sex to be honourable and be enjoyed as God purposed it.

Thanks Alai, Konyiego check your facts.

God Bless,
