Will I ever learn?

At my age, there are certain things that I should have
mastered by now. As it’s every time I think that I
have it altogether, then lo and behold I commit another
careless blunder.

I just find myself reading into things that don’t
exist. At the end, I find myself embarrassed and
looking rather stupid.

This last week,I met yet another silly assumption that
I am trying to come into terms with. This is what
happened. One of the assistant managers called me to
the lunch room. Usually, such kind of calling does not
augur well with many. Do you understand what I mean?
Check this out.

Do you remember the last time your boss or teacher
informed you that he or she wanted to have a chart
with you? What happened? You found yourself wondering
and searching hard to see if at all you had committed
any crime. The waiting was forever and painful.

It just reminds me a program that I saw sometime back
where a police man stopped motorists who were
apparently traveling at a posted speed. You should
have seen their reaction and self-defense. After they
had poured out their anger, the police went a head to
say that he had stopped to thank them for keeping the
law and then the un-expected announcement ” You are on
Candid Camera!” It was both hilarious and embarrassing
at the same time.

Back to the story,as soon as the boss called me, my
mind went negative. “Why in the world is he calling
me?” As “a good and obedient worker,” I went but with
lots of un-answered questions.

It turned out that he had cooked and brought us from
his home some delicious food, and knowing that I am
a vegetarian,he was showing me my portion of the food
that did not contain meat. Do I need to explain how I
felt?

Back to my station,I recalled one of my elders at
church-Elder Elijah Omirera. For the last several
months now,he joined this kind of business that has
totally changed his view of life. Elder omirera is set
to become a millionaire sometime soon. His business
among other things, teaches them positive thinking. He
is so much into it that he proudly passes it on even
to his pastor,” who is supposed to know it all.”

You will be amazed to realize how much positive
thinking can accomplish in ones life. But when you
approach issues with a negative baggage, you tend to
see anything in light of your
pre-conceived/judgmental mind.

You and I will save ourselves a lot of trouble if we
start thinking positive in all our dealings with
others. Let us avoid reading into things that don’t
exist. Some have lost friends and family members due
to this disease of negative thinking.

Some years back,I thought that I was done with school.
For some reason, the University of Hard Knocks though
free, has proved to be very expensive and painful.
Although in reality no one graduates from this
University, I am going to do my best to avoid the risk
of getting a barely passing grade. How about you?

Just a thought
